Very Ornate with Scrolling Leaf ... moreDesigns and Turning Swirls. Both with 5 candle holding arms. Very attractive pair of early Wall Sconces or Candelabras. No markings found. One sconce still has the gold gilt leaf on the wall mount and on the scalloped candle arms holder. The other one is still showing mostly silver paint which has been on for a long time and has the Gold Gilt Leaf showing through the silver paint. No damage or repairs on either one. I believe they could be solid bronze but can't guarantee it. There are two top candle drip pieces that screw off and were stripped years ago showing the old solid bronze metal(Pic. 5- 8) It also shows through in different areas on both sconces. All 10 top 2 piece drip plates unscrew off for easy cleaning. These were bought out of an old Hotel which was being torn down. The two Candelabras were mounted on the sides of an old Marble Top Fire Place Mantel. They are complete and ready for mounting. One has the two original wall mounting brackets and the other one has only the one(Pic. 11& 12) These will be beautiful if refinished. They are also beautiful in the condition they are presently in. Entirely up to the buyer. This is a very useful set and would look lovely in a restored Victorian Home. Please see all pictures and ask any questions. Be sure to use close up. I am not an expert on Guilted Bronze Items but these appear to me as Bronze but I can't guarantee it. So, be sure to ask me any questions before bidding. At first I thought they were cast iron but now I am not sure. With the two top pieces stripped and definitely being either brass or bronze and seeing a brassy/bronze metal look under the layers of old patina and paint. They could be bronze. In heavy solid gilt bronze with a gorgeous warm patina. Dating to the late 19th century it is classic Louis XV with roccoco foliate scrolls and detailing. It has three beautiful curved branches carrying the electrical light fittings with the original wooden faux candle covers. It comes complete with three charming petite creamy white satin shades finished with gold thread passamenterie braiding. It is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs and is in working order although the wiring is old and so should be checked before use. These sconces are believed to have been made in the early 20th century and were removed from a demolished Victorian house in Portland. They are intricately cast in brass and feature designs culled from the Louis XIV. XV, and XVI periods, in typical Victorian style. The sconces have been recently stripped of old wiring, cleaned, and polished by a professional and are ready to be re-wired and hung. They can also be used with real candles, if desired. Pair 1880's Antique French Louis XV Rococo Style Bronze Wall Candelabra Sconces
Up for auction is a Gorgeous Pair of 1880's Ornately Detailed French Style Heavy Bronze Guilted Wall Candle Sconces. Very Ornate with Scrolling Leaf Designs and Turning Swirls. Both with 5 candle holding arms. Very attractive pair of early Wall Sconces or Candelabras. No markings found. One sconce still has the gold gilt leaf on the wall mount and on the scalloped candle arms holder. The other one is still showing mostly silver paint which has been on for a long time and has the Gold Gilt Leaf showing through the silver paint. No damage or repairs on either one. I believe they could be solid bronze but can't guarantee it. There are two top candle drip pieces that screw off and were stripped years ago showing the old solid bronze metal(Pic. 5- 8) It also shows through in different areas on both sconces. All 10 top 2 piece drip plates ... moreunscrew off for easy cleaning. These were bought out of an old Hotel which was being torn down. The two Candelabras were mounted on the sides of an old Marble Top Fire Place Mantel. They are complete and ready for mounting. One has the two original wall mounting brackets and the other one has only the one(Pic. 11& 12) These will be beautiful if refinished. They are also beautiful in the condition they are presently in. Entirely up to the buyer. This is a very useful set and would look lovely in a restored Victorian Home. Please see all pictures and ask any questions. Be sure to use close up. I am not an expert on Guilted Bronze Items but these appear to me as Bronze but I can't guarantee it. So, be sure to ask me any questions before bidding. A very fine antique. Circa 1920's, French Louis XV style brass chandelier. The fixture has a brass circular frame with three satyr masks below the coiled brass arms with frosted glass shades. The frame holds a colored marble, or stained alabaster, dome shade. There are three cast brass floral chains to hang the frame that gather to a collar below the brass chain up to the original brass ceiling canopy. It is in working order with new wiring and plug for ceiling connection. From ceiling canopy down to dome brass drop finial measures 47" tall, the brass dome frame 18" diameter. The frosted glass shades are not original to the chandelier. They are without damage. Excellent condition: brass in original finish, no dents or breaks. The dome shade is without chips or cracks.
