Antique Art Deco Ceiling 5 Light Chandelier Polychrome Paint Fleur-De-Lis
Antique Art Deco Cast Aluminum 5-Socket Ceiling Light Fixture/Chandelier. Fleur-De-Lis Design, Original Polychrome Paint The ceiling light retains the original wiring in very good condition. I used the light in my home and recently decided to go with a little more formal Art Deco crystal chandelier. Hence. The offering of this wonderful ceiling light. The ceiling light is in working condition. You'll notice a small ring directly in the center on the bottom. The ring shows some light wear most likely from some type of ornament or prism. that was hung. The 5 matching fat boy sockets with paddle switches are original. The chain is original but was shortened to a drop of 21 inches(top of ceiling cap to bottom of bobeches) Inserted bulbs will add to the overall drop. The ceiling light was meticulously cleaned and professionally sprayed with ... moresemi-gloss top coat lacquer to preserve and enhance the original paint. Close inspection of the ceiling light will find only small and minimal areas of paint loss and/or wear. The wiring is original in good condition. The wiring doesn't appear to be brittle. There are no insulation breaks or fraying of the outer covering. Heat shrink tubing as been applied to the lead ends but will be obscured by the ceiling cap. Notice how the wire covering picks of the colors of the paint scheme. Because of the original wiring I cannot underwrite or indemnify the use of the ceiling light. You may want to replace the wiring. Each socket has a switch. There is a little play in one of the switches but will stay positioned. Many similar light fixtures used a cast iron hanger under the ceiling cap. When these lights were used originally there were no electrical boxes in the ceilings; only a hole for the wire. The cast iron hanger was attached to lath above the plaster. This ceiling light has outfitted with a pipe nipple and crossbar for easy and updated installation. As noted previously. The drop is 21 inches. All fixtures are cast iron with a remarkably intact polychrome finish. Sconces and chandelier have been outfitted with candle covers. These French candelabras are made out of wrought iron in the Gothic style with a Fleur-de-lis design. I am not sure about how old they are. But the construction looks crude and they have a great patina. This pair did come from a 1920's mansion, but not sure if they were original to the house. There is a hook on the back to hand them up. Nice pair of brass sconces with a Fleur de Lis motif. One is a two arm sconce. The other a single.Both take the small base bulbs. Quite heavy for their size. One would think that the backing plate would be thin but it's not. It's a good 1/8" thick and not the typical 1/16" thick brass. Both could use cleaning but generally on good condition as shown. Neither has any bends. Wiring on both look fine. They measure about 4 5/8" X 7 1/2" and the 2 light sconce is about 9 1/2" between sockets. They both protrude about 6 3/4" out from the wall. Really fancy& lovely ornate raised relief designs of a Fleur-de-lis design at center. Many curled scrolls and vines(see pics) geometric designs, and flowers and lilies abound-all in raised& deep inset relief, there are also inset striated ray design on background with a hammered surface finish on background as well-it is very elaborate(see pics provided and close-ups) There is a copper color finish on surfaces of cast iron which makes it additionally pretty. I believe this was at one time a'Double' sconce holder-it has at one time I believe 2 round oil-lamp cast iron holders-it now has only one-please view pics of this feature ... moreprovided. French Iron Candelabra Fleur de Lys Large Antique 3-Candles Hand-Forged
For your consideration. This stunning antique French iron candelabra is a large scale piece that was made in France in the late 19th century. This was hand-made, so its crudeness is the highlight of its charm. I hope you can see what I mean by magnifying the pictures. You can see the texture and where seams of iron meet, etc. It's really a gorgeous piece. I love those swooping arms of the fleur de lys. The pointed bottom of this is bent forward some. As is the top, but only very slightly. There is an opening at the top for hanging and an old wire on the top and bottom that doesn't serve a purpose. I just like selling things as I found them. These wires can be snipped off. They seem to be as old as the candelabra. The back of this has some white areas were it looks like some of a wall came off with it where it had been hanging, which ... morewas in the home of a 95-year-old Los Angeles collector. This is 32.5" wide. 36" from tip to tip, and the candle arms protrude 15.5" from the wall at the farthest point at the top of the candle holders. Speaking of the candle holders, these are fashioned like opening blossoms and they each will hold a 4" pillar. Think how gorgeous that will look! Antique Wall Lamp Gas VALVE Late 1800s Brass Single Flame Ornate Fleur De Lis
This old flame valve measures about 3 3/4" long and 2" wide. The top piece with 6 holes does turn nicely. As does the screw directly below it. That screw has a scalloped layered paper( piece that is missing part of it(see pics) The half circle piece(7/8" wide) with the fleur de lis doesn't turn. The interior opening, which would be attached to the lamp arm, measures 3/8" across. I have not cleaned this valve at all and there is some debris on it. Neat piece!
