It is in great antique condition with no chips. Breaks or repairs. It has a bronze finish push on and off button switch below the arm. It is very decorated with embossed roses and flowers with a big ribbon at the top and a smaller at the bottom. It has been rewired and has a ground wire. The plastic candle cover has been replaced and is cracked. It has 6 holes for prisms and probable originally had teardrops. It is quite heavy for its size and has double mounting holes on each side of the center medallion. It measures 17 1/2 inches long by 4 1/2 inches wide. The arm extends approx. 7 inches out. I believe this is an early French fixture which was completely restored in the 1980s. Solid bronze, very heavy. Overall good condition. One drop shade is cracked and repaired. Another shade with several small chips. Oxidation to the gilt surface. Especially around the drop bulb sockets. All wiring is good. I have for auction this fabulous gilt bronze traditional hall lantern. It is french and was found in a house clearance here in the South of France, so it is vintage, I have not cleaned the lantern except for the glass, I understand that some dealers do not like their metal ware cleaned, but I am sure it will be much brighter still with cleaning if you want it to be. I would think it will date to C1930s, it is wired for use, but this is old wiring and with all second hand electrical items, it is always wise to have this checked out before use, it is designed to take two standard edison screw type light bulbs, the light bulbs displayed in the chandelier are for display only and are not part of this auction. This classic style of hall lantern is highly sought after at present, you often see them displayed in beautiful homes in the high end interior ... moredesigners magazines, adding great style and class to any entrance hall. This lantern is a beautiful early example, it is lovely quality, it would have been very expensive when first purchased. What I love so much ab out this lantern is the wonderf u l glass cylinder shaped liner. The glass has so much charact e r. That you get with early glass, such as the wavey fluid like effect. It emphasizes it's age and adds great charm. The maximum drop from the ornate ceiling rose is approx 19.5" or 50cms, this could be easily lengthened or shortened by adding or removing chain, the diameter is approx 7.25" or 18.5cms. I have for auction this magnificent genuine antique gilt bronze and fine french crystal chandelier. It will date to the late 1800s, it came to me through a house clearance here in the South of France, as you can see in my photo's, this chandelier is for candles, as it was originally, in approx the 1920s/1930s it was wired for electricity, but this wiring was so old and distressed. It literally d i solved in my hands. So it has been removed and put back to its original state, I still have some of the old bulb holders and faux candles from the 1920s. Made of wood, please see last photo, I am happy to include these for you in this sale; I am sure it could be easily and inexpensively changed back to be lit by electricity if required. They are superb quality made of cast gilt bronze with wonderful lead crystals that really catches the light and sparkles. This lovely quality chandelier and matching wall lights were found in a house clearance here in the South of France. They would have been extremely expensive when first purchased and they have obviously been treasured. Please look at all 12 of my photographs to see all the wonderful detail. The maximum drop of the chandelier from is pretty ceiling rose is approx 30" or 76cms, this could easilly be lengthened or shortened if need be by adding or removing chain, the maximum width is approx 15.75" or 40cms. Pair Early 20th Century 2 Arm Bronze Sconces w Gilt Leaves Acorn Finials & Brass
Here we have a really great early 20th century pair of 2 arm bronze sconces with both gilt& brass leaves and acorn finials. These heavy sconces have a super deep time aged patina and we believe they date to the turn of 20th century. Each sconce has two arms and seven gilt leaves staggered along the length of the main bronze shaft. One sconce has four brass leaves between the gilt leaves and the other sconce is missing two brass leaves leaving two. All of the leaves have curved copper stems which are also used to hold the leaves to the main bronze shaft. These sconces are in untouched as-found condition with a wonderful deep time aged patina and we have not cleaned or dusted them. The patina is very deep and it is possible that it is remnants of red or brown paint. Each of these sconces will need brackets. Lighting parts, rewiring and ... morehave loose acorn finials. They each measure 13 1/4" tall. 4 1/4" across the arms and weigh 1 pound 10 ounces. This is a really interesting early 20th century pair of sconces with gilt leaves and with a little attention will make a wonderful usable pair. A pair of vintage gilt bronze sconces in a very good condition. Large and impressive in the style of Louis VX each are double branched with electrical fittings for candle bulbs. They are approx. 28cms long and 21 cms wide. The candle sleeves will need to be replaced and all bulb fittings and the rewiring must be checked by an expert. They each measure 16” tall. 12” wide and 8” deep. They have a great warm, gilded bronze look but may be brass. They also have Allen screws for a very secure connection for all of the parts, so I think they are 20 th century at least. That said. When you put them on the wall, that warm gilded bronze glow looks great in person This set of sconces is well constructed and is in excellent condition. I can find no flaws with either sconce.
