All new modern sockets and wiring but with high quality brass casting and design. This is a large fixture and the pictures may not convey the scale. It measures 63" tall x 33" wide. It is perfect for a Victorian entryway or stairway. You would need tall ceilings for this one. Check out the pictures. The detail is beautiful. Cast Griffins and torches are right out of the 1800's. This fixture is not marked but in excellent condition. The 5 brass arms have gas key turns and nice solid brass shade holders in a period style. Shades are hand tooled glass. The design on each shades is of flowers and trees repeating around the base. The shades are French and marked"CVV Vienna and Made in France" They have a wonderful blue tint at the ruffle rimmed top. The 2 brasses sconces used to be gas and have been fully converted to electric. On the rim of the one of the fitters it shows the patent date of"Pat'd.Dec896, Sept2996" The twist knob says"P& S" on the fixture it's also engraved"Weber Patents" They are in excellent working condition. The wire is newer. Upon looking at them. I'm not sure how you would mount them as there's no hardware and I don't see how you would fit it to the wall(even with the bar that's on it) I will leave it up to the new owner to determine. I figured you could drill holes into the canopy and mount it to the wall. The brass is VERY delicate ... moreand it shows it's age very much. There are some dents in it etc.which are hard to see in photos. The pictures show the cosmetic condition a little better than they actually are.The glass shades for the large fitter seem to be heavy for this lightweight of a fixture. You could replace them with something lighter or maybe more of that period. Also, one of the screws appears to be newer. The large fitter is 4 1/8" the small fitter is 2 1/4" The diameter of the canopy is 4" All of the glass shades are free of chips or cracks but do show some wear. Antique Vintage Light Fixture Gas And Electric Hanging Fixture No Shades
Here is a great old gas/electric combo fixture. And all of the gas plumbing appears to be intact. The finish is worn over the entire piece, all components except for the gas plumbing are brass. The gas valves move freely, though there is no wiring at the moment. One of the sockets is frozen, so the pull chain doesn't move. A complete rewire is needed anyway, so all of the issues can be addressed at that time. There are no shades included. And there are 2 fitter screws that are missing. The fitter size is 2 1/4" for the electric, and 1 1/2" for the gas shades. The finial appears to be a replacement(see pics) There is a nipple at the end for mounting/gas connect. But no other bracketry. There is some paint on the canopy as well(see pics) This will be partially disassembled for shipment. Beautiful little sconce. And has a very unique acorn finial on the pull chain. The set screws on the pierced top fitter are pretty little flowers, and all three are present. It was in use in our 1891 home until just recently when we opened up a wall to the reading nook it was in to make a master bath. I suspect it was there from when the house was wired to replace the gas lights. Our town. Bellefonte, was the second town to be electrified after Edison's home town! The sconce is wired and ready to go. But please an electrician or knowledgeable person double check the wiring to your satisfaction since it is not a new piece. The wiring is cloth covered, but doesn't look original, so may have been rewired more recently. The piece is marked 250V Hubbel 250W on the socket. And Pat Applied For on the arm. I polished it about 4 years ago, ... moreand it has mellowed to a lovely light brass patina. Antique Arts& Crafts Victorian Slag Glass Gas Shade from the Pittsburgh Glass Miller B& H Era. I have sold Pittsburgh Shades Previously and this shade is very similar with the Brass Cut out Silhouettes Used of That Era. This Shade is Original to my late 1800's built home. The top brass fitter portion would take the old spring type gas fitters. All glass is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips seen. The glass is all original to the shade with butterscotch and caramel colored slag/ stained glass. The fitter measures 1 5/8 inches across with the tabs measuring an extra 1/4 inch for a total 2 inch fitter end. The shade is six sided measuring approximately 8 1/2 inches tall and 6 inches across the bottom. Up for sale is a gorgeous antique gas brass wall sconce. It has been converted to electric. But it is a vintage/antique original conversion, with the original cotton wires from the early 1900's. Stamped with the maker"Crescent B.M. Co Pat'd" on the back(there is also a patent number but it is unreadable to me) I would caution any buyer who purchases to please rewire for safety reasons. Those wires are not considered safe anymore, needs new wires if going to be used. Also needs a switch. Is in good condition, with only one notable issue. It appears that at one point there was a decorative accent on the top, it has been snapped off, it looks like it never had been there in the first place, so the break happened in a natural looking place. 5 Antique Small Shades Gas or Oil Lamp Chandelier Non Electric Frosted Hobnail
Up for auction are five small light/ lamp shades. I believe them to be oil or gas because when I purchased them they had large amounts of soot inside of them. I cleaned them lightly but. Some of the residue still remains. They are very sweet looking, and are frosted hobnail with a top crown made of brass which does unscrew. Here it is and you can see it was hanging an being used until I just took it down. This is a fantastic solid brass chandelier that will come to you complete and in very good condition. This chandelier is original and early. Circa 1900-1910 made when no one was sure if electricity was going to stay around and be reliable. It is original made to use both gas and electricity. The 3 glass shades that point downward are for electricity; and the 3 glass shades that point up are for gas, also those arms have the gas shut off valves. This as found chandelier was recently removed from a house built in 1896 and it appears to be all original. The fixture measures 33” tall x 18” x 10” and is all brass with ¾” diameter stem. 5” diameter canopy and lots and lots of finely cast brass ornament in the French Rococo flavor. It retains original surface color overall and boats an outrageous asymmetrical design with twisting gas arms flanking a 3 ¼” drop shade holder, presumably for a stalactite shade. Combination Pendant- Restored Gas/Electric Light Fixture
Previously restored Combination Pendant-Gas/Electric light fixture. This fixture was completely restored at some point in the past. The cloth covering on one set of wires is disintegrating but the wire underneath has a modern plastic jacket. Someone replaced the sockets and the shades. Shades are cut glass and the bowl shade has a nice single clover detail amongst the diamond cuts. Lights can be wired together or switched individually. ANTIQUE 1890's Gas/Electric Combination fixture with filigree and etched shades Beautifully restored late 19th century fixture with ornate brass filigree. Original chain pull sockets and fantastic acid etched shades. Underneath several layers of paint the original 2 tone finish was just visible enough to restore. Finished with a dark bronze coating and natural brass highlights. The gas arms have been wired and bronze candelabra base sockets are used that look very authentic inside the gas shades. I have wired the electric lights separately from the gas lights so you can wire each to a separate switch or dimmer if desired. The fixture has very long. Antique Spelter Gilt Wall Sconce Light Lamp Gas/Electric Fixture
Up for sale is an antique gas wall sconce I purchased at an estate sale. It is made of spelter and painted gold. It was originally made for gas. But has been converted to electric. It has a 2 candlestick design and is in good to fair condition. I noted a crack in one of the arms(it doesn't appear to be weakening the arm, but there appears to be inner hardware that is preventing the piece from falling off) and I also noted the the mounting plate is missing a piece, but other than those flaws any other issues seem to be minor wear and tear. I do not see any rust or corrosion. This lamp would look fabulous on a wall as an accent light, or perhaps used in a hallway. It would even look great in the garden on a fence or barn. This fixture is meant to be hard wired to a switch, if wanting to use as a light, I'd recommend the electrical work ... morebe done by a trained electrician for safety reasons. Antique Brass GAS & ELECTRIC CHANDELIER - Gasolier - Light Fixture
This combination gas and electric brass ceiling fixture/ chandelier was salvaged from an San Francisco estate. The fixture contains four curved tubular arms. Two which are electric and two which are gas. The two candelabra style gas lights are positioned upward and are controlled with a decorative ribbon-shaped key. The two electric lights point downward and have a black on/off switch. Glass shades can be added to the fixtures, however they are not included. The original 42" long stem and ceiling canopy are intact and show a nicely developed patina. The gas arms extend 12" from the center while the electric arms reach out 10" The electric fixtures should be rewired before using.
