This desk is in beautiful condition considering it's age. I have used it for over 30 years when it was sold to me by my brother-in-law who inherited it from his Lt. Colonel Uncle. It has been in the family since the 1890s when it was manufactured and purchased here in the United States. A truly lovely item. I have been clearing the house of many things.my daughter doesn't want antiques as they decorate in contemporary style. I hope you will love this desk. This is a antique Eastlake style Victorian Oak roll top secretary cylinder desk that dates from the late 1800s. Made from solid oak(NO VENEER) and in very good condition with some light scratches and rubs from age and use. Measures 42 1/4" tall. 34 1/8" wide and 21 1/2" deep. A nice space saver desk. All drawers slide in and out good and the slide out writing desk top slides in and out very good as well.Appears to have been refinished at one point in time and the handles are not original to the desk. We are pleased to be offering today this true Victorian burl walnut secretary bookcase desk that dates from the Eastlake era of the 1870s to 1880s. This desk is truly Eastlake as it has the circular dove tail that was used for a short period of time and really pin points the date range of the desk. It came out of a pretty nice estate on the east coast. It appears to have been refinished years ago in a medium walnut stain finish. It has all the hardware intact. All the burl walnut panels are intact. The only thing we did was replace the felt on the pull out tray as the other one was stained. The desk comes with the original wavy glass on the bookcase glass doors top. Three adjustable shelves that appear to be true original shelves, the doors have burl panels on all four sides with ... morerosette covers and even comes with a key. It has a crown molded top, beautiful burl walnut center and the pull tray. The base cabinet sports three graduated drawers with the circular round Eastlake dove tail and carved columns coming down both sides and lots of burl walnut. The overall size is 40 inches at the widest point, 23 inches deep, 31 inches high to the writing surface and 87 inches high overall. One thing I would like to add is that these desks usually have white wood sides or non walnut sides, but this one is truly all walnut as you can see in the numerous pictures. The original backboards are all in place. The desk is a nice original desk. The more I look at it, it appears like they just put a clear coat of shellac on it to brighten it up back years ago. Antique Cylinder Desk Furniture in Texas
Cylinder Desk This is an antique desk that I had for many years and my daughter used it for several years herself but no longer wants. I believe it is a Eastlake piece. There are 3 drawers and when the cylinder top is rolled back it reveals a work surface which can be pulled outward. The work surface is covered with green felt. This allows you to pull up a chair and work at the desk. At one time there was another piece that was placed on the top of the desk but that has never been with the desk as long as I have owned it. Otherwise the desk is in good condition for its age. These are the measurements for the desk. height-41 1/4 inches. Depth 21 inches, width 35 inches. pull out 19.5 by 30 inches. Drawer#1 4 1/8 inches drawer#2 and#3 7 1/8 inches. The drawers are 30 inches wide and 16 inches deep. The hardware is in good condition as are the ... moreknobs. This is a local pick up only! That means you must drive to my home in Canyon, Texas to pick it up. Because of its size it can be used in a normal size home. Many pieces of furniture now are so large that older homes can not accommodate it. Victorian Eastlake 1840 Cylinder Roll Top Secretary Desk, Bookcase Top
Trying to get someone to help move this away from the wall so that I can take pictures of the back. There is the stagecoach information where this traveled from the east coast to the west coast. I believe it says in 1864. Its been a few decades since I saw it back there. The skeleton key locks the cabinet. No one walks in my door without commenting on it.
