This is a beautiful and rare piece. It is a 19th century and I was told possibly 18th century French desk that was painted and gilded to be free standing as the design is also in the back. It has lovely lines and it is beautifully painted with flowers and medallions. The dimensions of this desk is 39 inches high x 24 inches wide and the depth is 16 inches. the interior is painted a reddish color. This desk was painted more than 40 years ago. Not a faux paint job. The colors are ivory(creamy) and the stencil work is in a brown and white. The age showing is natural not intentionally painted. Measuring 25 1/2 inches tall, 21 1/4 inches wide, 26 inches deep from the back to front with the seat down. The seat is 14 inches from the floor. All measurements are including the wooden planks attached to the iron legs. The seat folds up to save a little space. Please ask any questions prior to purchase. Italian antique Ventian secretary desk. Hand painted cupids.
Here is a very well cared for and in mostly original condition with original hardware and original finish and art work of painted cupids and landscapes throughout. And these painted cupids/landscapes are on a slightly raised. Built up surface which, when complimented with the gold paint, sets off well well lit dim or full light. Secretary at one time was modified with two lighting fixtures that are working in the upper section. Lower section was modified, floor has a plywood floor. Small wood loss on knee of leg(pictured) but in general, in outstanding condition for it's age. Unique, lavish embellishments, beautifully conceived and created. On of a kind and the scarlet color with gold trim is to dye for! Measurements are 86" tall, 43" wide, 21" deep.
