Lenoir, North Carolina-the underside of the table is also stamped: Oval Table-Cherry-29-etc. Made of Cherry wood-medium, chestnut brown stain allows for much of the grain in the wood to show. Set consisted of table with removable center piece-5 regular chairs and one captain's chair with arms-hutch and buffet. I bought these 20 years ago and now am getting different furniture. I had the seats professionally reupholstered long ago to match my decor(olive green/goldish print)I have always kept seat pads on the chairs when in use-so the seats are in great condition. Table measures 58" x 40" x 30 1/2" tall-with an additional center piece that measures 12" wide. The Hutch is 47" x 15" x 70" tall. The Buffet is 57" x 17 1/2" x 30 1/3" tall. Overall very nice condition-normal wear for being 84 years old. Some things I would mention are that the wood color of the center piece section is darker than the rest of the table, it was like that when I bought it-possible meant for contrast or maybe because it was stored out of the light)also a slice of the corner wood has broken off as can be seen the the picture-back rt corner of section. Also-a bit of wood had chipped off the top corner of the table leg(tiny but I mention it to be exact-not seen from the top) The legs screw off with attachment bolts to remove them for storage. Also, one chair missing a decorative wood curve on front leg-shown in pic. Also- scratch on table top-6" and 1 1/2"shown in last pic. If I missed something-please ask. The color of the hutch in the first pic is the true color-rich and beautiful. As you can see-the hutch and buffet hold a ton of things(none of which are included in this sale) Pick-up only in Traverse City Michigan. C. 1860, ADJUSTABLE LETTER INLAID CENTER& SIDE COMPARTMENTS This is a handsome early Victorian English mahogany reading and writing table dating to approximately 1860. The rectangular top has rounded corners and an adjustable center section inlaid with a brown leather panel decorated with gilt tooling. Flanking the center section are two hinged panels which open outward to reveal compartments. One open and the other with dividers. The front of the piece has a frieze center drawer with its original brass lock. Flanking this center drawer are two keyholes and locks which secure the compartments above. The side opposite the drawer has a slide which pulls out to provide a second writing surface. The table stands on beautiful leaf carved trestle feet with concealed brass ... morecasters. The drawer fronts are solid wood and not veneers. It measures 47 inches long by 30 inches tall 18.75 inches deepest depth. Here's what I stated about this gorgeous desk's condition: Some chips and wood splits in area but overall strikingly beautiful condition very strong. Sturdy, and stable and nothing broken. Some minor scratch marks on surface areas. Looks like possibly a repair or replacement wood on one side because of the two slabs of wood evident. A wonderful antique. Circa 1890's- 1900's, Louis XV style writing table in mildly stripped mahogany veneers, the legs of solid mahogany. There are three drawers to one side, the other side with three faux drawer fronts. There are elaborately cast heavy bronze mounts, the leg corners with lady figureheads. The top has a single piece of black leather having stamped gilt borders. Table measures 2'6" 30-1/2" tall by 5'9" 69" wide by 3'1" 37" deep, the leather 5'1" 61" wide by 2"5" 29" deep. From floor to bottom of center drawer is 23-1/4" tall. Excellent condition: mahogany legs without chips or cracks, veneers all around are complete and original finish. Circa 1890 Victorian Mahogany Cosmetic issues on top(see description) Sturdy and strong No key, This is a mahogany washstand that was made during the Victorian era in England. Around 1890. Today it would make a wonderful little writing desk or side table. Originally this washstand was used with a large bowl and jug on top. People would wash their hands and face there either in the morning after waking or before a meal. It is made from a lovely selection of mahogany wood that has developed a very attractive patina since ... moreits construction. Complimenting the wood are lovely brass pulls and a brass escutcheon. While there is a lock present in the single drawer. There is no key. The drawer is constructed with hand cut dovetails, a sign of age and authenticity. On the top you will notice a mahogany cross band and ebony string inlay around the edge. This is a common and attractive feature from that era. The top also has a small back splash that does not remove. We have rated the condition of the washstand/ desk as fair because of the cosmetic condition of the top. Structurally the piece is sound and strong. It will last for many years to come. The top does show an age split. Ring in the finish, a dark patch in the back right corner, and various small nicks here and there. None of these compromise the structural integrity of the washstand and do add character and history to the piece. As stated earlier, it would be an excellent piece to use as a small writing desk or as a side table. There are 25″ from the floor to the bottom of the piece. AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE STYLE MAHOGANY DRESSING TABLE OR KNEEHOLE DESK An Exceptional Benchmade Work After the Boston Originals. Circa Fourth Quarter of the 19th Century Item# 1408AWV10S This is a wonderful find. Crafted entirely with period techniques, tools and fasteners during the Centennial era of the late 19th Century. It is one of the truest representations of the Boston Kneehole Desk we've seen from this era, the craftsmanship positively impeccable. The dense mahogany planks for the top and sides of the case present a marvelous display of swirling grains and symmetry. Likewise, the boards used for the drawers have a fine swirling that augments the bow of each drawer to create a sense of greater bend and depth than actually present in the wood. The top is crafted of two planks of mahogany thumb molded of the solid, conforming to the ... morecase and projecting softly over all three sides- it affixes to the case by sliding onto dovetails along the sides, allowing the top to expand and contract over time without threat of splitting. The front of the desk features a broad single drawer over three graduated drawers on either side, flanking a single hidden drawer over the tombstone kneehole door. All drawers are crafted with great skill, the dovetails precise and perfect at each joint, the bottoms set perpendicular to the frame and affixed with tacks around all edges beneath applied runners on the sides. They retain their original hardware and working locks. The drawer bottoms, like much of the desk, are sawn by hand and lightly planed by hand- the kerf marks of the uneven saw are evident throughout these secondary surfaces. The feet are untouched and entirely original, the blocking still intact and in place other than a single missing corner block. An original Boston Kneehole desk would be beyond prohibitive in pricing- this fine object is as close to the original as is otherwise possible. Writing desk, or computer desk. We originally thought it was turn of the century, but the hand cut dovetails place it into the 1800's. It appears to have been refinished. The stunning lines of this table allow it to mix and blend with any of today's decor. It is oval shaped with columns and an Empire base. It has hand cut dovetails in the drawer and a carved style border around the skirt. It measures 30 1/4" tall. 42 1/4" wide, and 24" deep. It is sturdy and in good condition. This we would attribute to the Karpen furniture company of Chicago at about 1905-1910. A real survivor that is impeccable restored condition. Gilt& blind tool leather. Below. There are three working moulded drawers to each side of the table(six in total) All drawers feature working locks and keys and the original brass key escutcheons. Lock is stamped as pictured and in the bottom it stated"brevete sgdg" which implies that the patent pending for the mechanism of the table was not a liability of the French government as so implemented after 1844. Fantastic mahogany construction to the frame with simple and elegant bronze accented to the leaves and corner as well a a the leg sabotts. Opens up to show new felp padding and dark mahogany border. Great state of conservation for its age of about 1890 to 1910. Minimal loss to one of the drawers in the back part as showned. 31 3/4" by 31 3/4" open close it measures 23" by 23" top and 29 1/4" tall.
