The carvings. Period details and burl walnut accents on this 19th century desk are just beautiful and this desk is definitely heirloom quality.a beautiful statement piece for your home! This fine desk measures 45 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back.Height to the top at the front measures 46 inches, with a total width of 48 inches, total depth of 26 inches and this desk weighs approximately 200 lbs. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The knee hole height of the desk portion measures 25 1/4 inches and knee-hole width measures 18 3/4 inches. The cylinder portion of this desk raises and lowers very smoothly and has a large brass lock mechanism on the bottom which is marked: Indianapolis Cab. Co Pat. The lock is intact but we do not have the key. The inner desk portion is beautiful maple with a multitude of various sizes of storage drawers and cubbies.The old green felt on the pull out writing surface appears original and does show some wear and some spots. The left offers a stack of four storage drawers with period dove-tailed ends and the original pulls. To the right another drawer is found with a storage cabinet below. The lock is missing from the cabinet door. As you can see in the pictures this desk could easily be in the center of a room for it is as lovely on the back as the front and is finished beautifully all the way around. This Victorian Eastlake cylinder roll desk circa 1880 is in fabulous antique condition. The desk features ... morea gorgeous original finish and period hardware. There are four graduated drawers over flared french feet and shaped skirt. The drawer fronts have book-matched crotch mahogany veneers and cockbeading. The fitted interior(sorry for the dust) has burl walnut veneers, ebonized pulls and boxwood stringing. The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. I don't think we want to try to address this particular issue but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. This is a nice antique 19th century Victorian era burl walnut cylinder/ roll secretary desk bookcase. In pretty nice shape as the pics show with various wear throughout like that shown from age and use and comes exactly as shown. It has a little tag on the piece that says"Best Wishes of Brothers Francis. John, George April 19th 1887" It measures 38" x 23 1/2" x 92 1/2" It comes in 3 pieces the lower section being one piece, the upper bookcase section being another and the crown on top. It has 3 shelves as shown and a little lever that tilts the writing section up so it's easier to write on the letter and the interior drawers are a bird's eye maple veneer. Estate ~ 1800's Walnut Burl Trim Library Table w/Drawer & Original Working KEY
Please scan to the bottom to read shipping details and payment: From a local estate this week ~ this good looking 1800's walnut burl trim library table/desk with drawer and original key with the working lock. Measuring approx. 43" wide x 25" x 28.5" tall. Striking burl panels all around four sides, replaced leatherette vinyl blotter top. The detail in this piece is beautiful with the carved walnut lock cover! This desk looks like it's ready to use right out of the shipping box. Keep in mind this piece dates to the Civil War Era and will show signs of wear from years of pampered use that include faint scratches. Dings& dust! I believe the green top is a replacement it looks very good. Use the enlarge button on the photos to get a good look at what you are buying. Condition: Sturdy ready to use. Good condition. The finish could be original? It looks satin like in nature and smooth to the touch. The drawer pulls in and out working very well. The original key is included and works the lock the way it was meant to. I will pick at the not so obvious flaws ~ The rollers are original with metal castor and wooden wheels. One of the metal caster attachments is missing a piece see photo#10, photo#8 is how it should look. This does not deter from its use just pointing it out. The turned decorative walnut knob on both sides of the stretcher base have some slight chipping. Keep in mind these chips are on the bottom of the knob so it's hidden when you look at the table see#11. The original manufacturer tag is still attached inside the drawer reading"F. Geldowsky of E. Cambridge Massachusetts" The last photo show the bottom of the drawer that has one piece wood! SOLID WALNUT W/ BURL WALNUT FRONT ANTIQUE WALL MOUNTED DESK CABINET 1880'S-1890'S FOLD OUT SHELVES& WRITING SURFACE It really is hard to know where to start with this Antique piece. It is a gorgeous piece of furniture! The solid Walnut is in wonderful condition given the age of this piece. This is truly Unique. I have spent at least a couple of hours trying to research this piece or find one like it-I have not been able to find another like it! It is made of Solid Walnut. The wood has aged and seasoned beautifully. It was a true Craftsman that created this piece. The front is a Burl Walnut. Inside. There are five separate shelves. Two are removable. Three are attached to an arm and they swing forward and out. The desk surface has a track where two other arms come out and support the surface. These are of brass. The surface of ... morethe writing area is covered with velvet that was the covering of choice during that era. It is in Good to Very Good condition for the age. It does have some spots and stains on it. This is bordered with a veneer that I am not sure was wood or paper. It has peeled off in a couple of places, but is still in generally good condition. There are doors on each side of the piece that open up to reveal two small shelves on each side. These are the only thing that may not be original, but they may. They are a curved triangle. They do need to be glued in-I would say back in, but they do not look as if they were glued originally. I believe they were cut to fit very snugly without glue, but they would need to be glued to use with anything that has weight to it. The cabinet measures appx. 28" in width. 26" in height, 6" deep. The fold out writing surface comes out appx. 18" It weighs about 25 lbs. We will package it VERY carefully and would send it insured where applicable. This is a classic Eastlake Secretary circa around 1880. That has a curly walnut burl on the roll top, which is really beautiful. The upper bookcase has the origianl wavy glass in the doors and adjustable shelve with wooden slats and a key lock on the doors with the key. Above the leather pull out writing surface area are campartments including 2 small pull out drawers. The 3 drawers below the desk top are dove tailed. This 19th century writing table is a unique and beautiful piece. It is in excellent antique condition. The desk is made of walnut with walnut burl inlays. And it has four pillars with carved leaf motifs. The top of the desk opens to reveal a mirror, a drawer with a writing surface, and storage for writing utensils and ink. This desk is a very uncommon design, possibly of Eastlake origin. Dimensions: 20.5"W x 19"D x 34" Please inquire about shipping costs. A very fine and unusual antique. Circa 1880, Renaissance Revival Davenport lift top desk. The solid walnut case has burl walnut veneers in recessed and raised panels. There are four drawers on the left side with brass ring handles. There are matching faux drawer fronts on the right side that are decoration only. The top brown leather writing surface on lid opens to a pine and maple compartment, the cubbyhole with two burl fronted drawers. The bottom front doors have burl veneer panels. The right door opens to a compartment with stationary maple shelves. The door reverse has a birdeye maple veneer panel. The left door is faux and does not open. There is a nice top spindled walnut gallery, and carved walnut front scroll feet and drop finials. The desk measures 40" tall by 31" wide by 26" deep, the leather writing surface 26-3/4" ... morewide by 14-1/4" deep. From bottom of desk overhang to floor is 25-1/2" tall. Excellent condition: original finish, pine board under writing surface has cracked horizontally and crack filled with wood putty. Missing a ring pull from right side. The back gallery is missing the two acorn finials, the side gallery with acorn finials. Ring spot to top surface, not on wood frame around writing surface.

The crest has a gutta percha molded panel with ribbon and flowers, spoon carved flowers on walnut as well. The back boards of the bookcase have maple. The bookcase doors have the original wavy glass panels. There are three adjustable walnut fronted maple shelves. Includes the lock and key. The secretary has a butterflied burl veneer roll top. The writing surface frame pulls forward, the cubbyhole in maple with walnut drawers. Shown on the red felt writing surface is the walnut finial to the center bookcase crest that needs gluing back on. This desk has one drawer and one fake front on each side of the desk making it a Partner's Desk. This desk is in very nice condition with a chip to the original finial's bottom. The base is gorgeous with multi-turnings, finials, fluted, reeded, applied buttons, burl walnut raised panels and a 2.5” burl walnut border trip across the top. We are pleased to be offering today this true Victorian burl walnut secretary bookcase desk that dates from the Eastlake era of the 1870s to 1880s. This desk is truly Eastlake as it has the circular dove tail that was used for a short period of time and really pin points the date range of the desk. It came out of a pretty nice estate on the east coast. It appears to have been refinished years ago in a medium walnut stain finish. It has all the hardware intact. All the burl walnut panels are intact. The only thing we did was replace the felt on the pull out tray as the other one was stained. The desk comes with the original wavy glass on the bookcase glass doors top. Three adjustable shelves that appear to be true original shelves, the doors have burl panels on all four sides with ... morerosette covers and even comes with a key. It has a crown molded top, beautiful burl walnut center and the pull tray. The base cabinet sports three graduated drawers with the circular round Eastlake dove tail and carved columns coming down both sides and lots of burl walnut. The overall size is 40 inches at the widest point, 23 inches deep, 31 inches high to the writing surface and 87 inches high overall. One thing I would like to add is that these desks usually have white wood sides or non walnut sides, but this one is truly all walnut as you can see in the numerous pictures. The original backboards are all in place. The desk is a nice original desk. The more I look at it, it appears like they just put a clear coat of shellac on it to brighten it up back years ago. Antique Eastlake Mahogany and Walnut Burl Secretary
This is an Eastlake secretary from the late 1800s. I think. It's solid wood construction, mostly mahogany with walnut burl panels, very tasteful Eastlake geometric details, original wavy glass and beautiful original patina. Three adjustable shelves in the top book case; drop-down writing surface with original felt, two drawers, file bins and pigeon holes; one fixed self in the base. The two locks work with a replacement key, but they are a little sticky, and one of the rosettes that covers the writing panel pivot is missing. Measures: 42 x 85 x 11.5 top, 20 base.
