The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

The desk was refinished in the last 10 years or so and whoever it was did a wonderful job. The desk has dainty carved cabriole legs with brass fillagree on the elbows and castors. The drawers are all dove tail with brass ribbed knobs. The doors have locks, but there is no key. The desk is in wonderful condition apart from two small cracks on the solid oak top that has nothing to do with structure and you wouldn’t want to touch it. The overall size is 52 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 30 inches high.

The two side doors open revealing shelves; the bottom middledrawer does the same; and the top drop-down door reveals small drawers. Nooksand crannies. There is no lock inside the key hole/lock compartment. It has recessed panels on both sides and back. The Roll Top slides up and down. Not a smooth slide. You have to hold both handles to open and close. It tends to stick when sliding. The flat surface of the desk appears to have been refinished at one time and it has a brownish stain on the desk. The top portion of the desk sets on the base. It does not bolt into the base. There are signs of wear in the form of scratches. Chips to the wood and repairs that I tried to show in the many photos. I have never seen a roll top desk quite like this one. It might have been custom made for use in a office. It is all original, in obvious need of refinishing, unless you prefer the original condition, albeit stains, scratches, etc. typical of piece of this age. There is a large roll up door on left with compartments and one drawer, the board pulls out allowing leg room to work at desk, it seems a big short, but if you measure to top of pull out board it measures 25" high, appears to be ample room for your legs. Overall dimensions of the desk are 45" wide by 31" deep by 44" tall. The right side has small roll up door with compartments for files, note the name"Dearborn" stamped on surface. A very fine and probably one of a kind antique American R.J. Horner highly carved mahogany full standing winged griffins with tails Ca. 1890's. This a rare large oval solid mahogany top which measures 59" inches long. It also has four original draws two in the center one on each side and two on each end of the oval top.The only one I have seen before. This desk is in very good to excellent condition for its age.All of the original wings are present none have been broken or repaired. A very fine and possibly one of a kind mahogany partners desk attributed to R.J. Horner highly carved mahogany very large full body standing winged griffins with tails Ca. 1890's. This a rare large oval solid mahogany top which measures 59" inches long. It also has four original draws two in the center one on each side and two on each end of the oval top.The only one I have seen before. This desk is in very good to excellent condition for its age.All of the original wings are present none have been broken or repaired. Note in one photo you see the oval top lip on one end its up a bit off the apron just missing a couple screws forgot to screw it down they are in the draw. Antique Solid Oak Cylinder Desk circa 1875-1890
This is a solid oak hand carved work of art that anyone would have proud to adorn their home. A cylinder desk that purportedly was once owned by the tobacconist Philip Morris. His name is stamped in the upper right hand drawer of the desk. This unit is a handcarved and handcrafted work of art and was built between 1875 and 1890. There is one lock missing from one of the drawers and it cannot be replaced with an original as we were not able to locate one. In addition. The top of the desks surface has had an insert set in as the desk once had some mechanical device mounted in the top two drawers of the main part of the desk and apparantly rose through the top and was later replaced with matching oak boards, however, this was done before the turn of the century. This exceptional partner's desk is in the Queen Anne style/ design and probably dates from the late 1890s to the early 1900s. I believe the main wood to be rosewood. It is in great original found condition with the ordinary wear consistent for the age and use. There appears to be no damage. Or missing pieces. The stretcher base is separated( unglued- not broken) in one place in the center but can be put back together with little difficulty. The carvings are all well done and seem to be of some Oriental designs. The surface, drawers, sides and legs are all exceptionally carved. Up for sale are a pair of Heywood Eclipse wooden school desk chairs with adjustable metal bases. On the base is the Manufacturer name and the#3. I believe these date to 1890 time frame. They have been in my family since I was a child and at one time we had the desks to them that we used at home as kids. One chair is in better shape than the other but both are very solid with no major issues. One of the chairs does have some separation in the glue joints although nothing is loose. The surface is slanted and the 2 1/2 inch drop/slope starts at 8 1/2 inches from front of desk and stops 21 inches down at a'pencil stop' piece of small well-rounded oak molding. The 4 drawers along the top are all 16 inches wide-3 deep and 23" long-one of them is a coin drawer*see photos) One side column consists of five 14 1/2 inch drawers all 5" deep and 23 long. The other column has a 24 inch'roll top' section X 14 wide followed by a bottom drawer also 5" deep and 23 long. The top section, w/ the 4 drawers, comes right off-as it sits on pegs/dowels. ... moreThe middle panel is slotted into each column and has a small mounting brackets at the inside top of each side. The only markings found underneath the desk were the word STYLE and the# 757.
