I am unsure of the exact age of the desk. It is most likely a 1970's reproduction of an 18th Century Georgian Design. It has beautifully carved ball and claw feet, and chunky cabiole legs that are also carved at the knees. This desk has five (5) substantial drawers with the original brass bail pull handles, and five (5) faux drawer fronts on the back side also with brass bail pull handles. The drawers have dove tail joints. The desk was in front of a window for years, and therefore the finish on the back side is a bit faded.

Condition: Used Location: Novato, United States I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite ... morelike it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. The dimensions are 40 1/2” tall its tallest point. 33 1/2“ wide at its widest point at the base, and 19” deep when closed,and 34“ deep when opened. Local pickup only.

FINE FLAMED MAHOGANY EMPIRE SECTRETARY CIRCA 1840 GLASS TOP DRS/SOLID LOWER DRS
This is a fine empire secretary circa 1840. The front is flamed mahogany that is stunning. The piece has been professionally refinished and is exquisite. The overall heighth is 96 1/2" with the casters which makes it slightly over 8' tall. By removing the casters the height drops to 94 1/4" The piece is in two parts. The top bookcase section is 48 3/4" tall x 46" wide and 13" deep. There are two glass doors that measure 43 1/2" x 23" The top holds three shelves. The lower section stands 47 3/4" high with the casters and 45 3/4" without the casters. The base is 21" deep. There are three small drawers at the top of the lower section followed by the hidden writting space. The writing area is 16 1/2" deep. Below that are two solid doors that measure 20 1/4" x 22" The inside ... moreof the lower doors are hand beveled. The base is finished with a scalloped edge that makes a fine detail. There is a key that works the locks for the top and bottom doors and a seperate key that works the lock to the writing area. 19th Century Solid Mahogany Bench Made Partner's Desk W/Ornate Details Ball/Claw
A beautiful antique desk! This is a solid mahogany partner's desk that dates to the second half of the 19th Century. We do not know the maker or the region of origin. This piece is bench made and hand carved. The desk measures as follows: width = 50 1/8" depth = 27.75" height = 30 3/8" height to bottom edge at center of kneehole = 23" height to bottom edge of trim at kneehole = 22" The top of the desk has carved designs in all four corners. The edge has an ornate dental mold style trim all the way around. The secondary woods are also mahogany and the drawers have champhored bottoms and dove tails in the front and back. This piece was refinished some time in the early 20th century. There is an area on the top that is sun bleached on one of the ends as well as one of the legs. This same leg has a repair on it as ... morewell. Two of the legs have been repaired on this piece. They appear to be professional repairs. One of them has a very slight movement to it but the desk remains solid and sturdy. This is th eleg that has sun fade on it. The four legs have a beautiful carved design running vertically that ends just above the ball& claw foot. The knee hole has corner mounted pieces that are carved as well. A very fine and imposing antique. Circa 1890's- 1900's, Empire style solid mahogany and flame mahogany veneers pedestaled partners desk. The carved claw feet have above carved acanthus scrolls, the pedestals partly turned and partly reeded. The kneehole entrys have carved acanthus leaf and half rosette. The three top surface boards have carved dagroon edge. The six drawers are bow fronted with flame veneers, the original glass knobs reeded. Includes the lock to both center drawer, the drawer interiors in maple and pine. The cross stretchers are squared and flame mahogany veneered. Desk measures 31" tall by 54" wide by 33" deep. From center half rosette at kneehole down to floor is 22-1/4" tall, by 15" deep to cross stretcher. Antique 1800s Lap Desk Sturdy Solid Mahogany Campaign Style w/ Lock and Key
This solid wood lap desk was made to hold up to heavy use. Probably for a Military Officer. A Traveling Official, or a Businessman that required a durable portable desk. Closed it measured 15 in. by 10 in. and 6 in. high. When opened it had a 13 ½ in. 5 ¾ in. writing surface and with another flip of the top would become a 13 ½ in. by 13 ½ in. surface. Made with solid Mahogany using hand cut dovetailed joints, it has Brass Handles recessed into the sides. Overall condition is good with wood patches in the back and along the inside edge. At some time in the past the felt was replaced and the leather hinges on the interior compartments are torn with the felt now supporting the writing surface. The top has a tight age crack, the felt has a tiny hole, and the old finish shows marks, scuffs, and fine scratches. It is sturdy ... moreand ready for use. This desk in in perfect condition for it's age and craftsmanship. The Desk was made by Louis Berman at 127 Columbus Ave. Manhattan between 1900 and 1917 when the shop was closed due to bankruptcy. It is reported that the furniture was of such high quality the price was higher then many other manufactures of the time. This desk is 100% mahogany. All draw sides back and bottoms. The desk has two side draws with no visible draw pull, the center draw has two brass circle pulls. The last picture shows the original Louis Berman label on the bottom of the center draw.
