New York City Circa 1920-40 Item# 130001OTY27 This is a French Louis XVI Style Antique Writing Table or Desk crafted in solid mahogany and mahogany veneers by Jacques Bodart. Inc. The desk retains the original photograph from when it was retailed by Jacques Bodart, Inc. during the first quarter of the 20th Century, noting this as#1681. It is a gorgeous piece, the original gilt highlighted tooled green leather preserved in remarkable condition, framed in well patinated molded mahogany over five drawers. The desk rests over four tapered and stop-fluted legs with square brass caps over each leg and terminating in plain brass capped feet. Jacques Bodart. Inc. crafted very fine reproductions of Louis XVI 18th and 19th Century antique furniture, ... moremarketing these to interior designers and decorators around the country from their showroom in New York City. This is a simply outstanding selection, only more so due to the fine patina and character developed throughout, perfect for home decorators and those passionate about original French designs. Measurements: 55 1/8" wide x 28 1/4" deep x 30" high; wings are 12 3/4" across when fully extended. 21 5/8" deep. Condition Report: Nice patinated and almost certainly original surface. Sunbleached on the front and sides, color well preserved in the back. Very minor dings and abrasions here and there throughout, including minor blemishes and stains to the leather top. No key. 19th C French Mahogany Desk w. Red Leather Top
Here is another nice functional piece. This is a Mid 19th Century French Red Leather Top Desk. It still be used for the purpose it was made for. 5 dove tailed drawers, 2 on each side and one across the middle, all with individual locks. Writting surface is covered with red leather, which has darkened with age and has some discoloration that does not take away from it's beauty. Offere d for sale is a Diminutive Mahogany Empire Ladies Desk circa 1840. This wonderful slant front Empire desk features a tooled leather top. Hidden compartment for inks and quills and slide out candle shelves. The top lifts to reveal a storage area with fake drawers with little ivory knobs. A lovely carved molding is around the bottom of the desk. Fully turned columns with carved capitals support the desk. Beautifully carved corner brackets can be found under each corner. Scrolled feet hold cupped rollers, hiding them from view. There are a couple of piece of veneer missing from the feet. Not uncommon for a piece of this age. On the inside there is an age separation in wood, again not uncommon and one candle holder has been replaced, please look closely the photos. SORRY FOR THE PICTURES FOR SOME REASON THEY DIDN`T COME OUT GREAT. This is a very nice mahogany partners desk made in England circa 1870. Its in very good condition. The only thing I can see is that there has been a repair to the top right of the desk but looks fine, there are a few marks in the leather again nothing really bad. To either side of the desk there are pull out slides with leather insert. The quality is very good the drawer linings are solid oak with dove tail joints. This comes in 3 parts two pedestals and the top. It has brass handles and also brass key plates. There is one key plate that is missing. Measurements are 60 wide. 45 deep, 32 high.

A wonderful antique. Circa 1890's- 1900's, Louis XV style writing table in mildly stripped mahogany veneers, the legs of solid mahogany. There are three drawers to one side, the other side with three faux drawer fronts. There are elaborately cast heavy bronze mounts, the leg corners with lady figureheads. The top has a single piece of black leather having stamped gilt borders. Table measures 2'6" 30-1/2" tall by 5'9" 69" wide by 3'1" 37" deep, the leather 5'1" 61" wide by 2"5" 29" deep. From floor to bottom of center drawer is 23-1/4" tall. Excellent condition: mahogany legs without chips or cracks, veneers all around are complete and original finish. This is a very nice small desk which is called a Dickens desk in England. The top comes of the twp pedestals so its easy to move. It a light mahogany color to the top it has a slope which pulls up and opens inside is great for storage. To the front it has several drawers with dovetail joints and run smooth. The partners side of the desk has faux drawer facings. Both sides and the knee hole is accented with paneled moldings and very attractive base molding surrounding each of its double pedestals.
