For sale is a 1950s 2 arm industrial Jielde multi angle articulated machine ... morelamp. The aluminium elbows have been polished. The lamp is in working order and comes with 2.4 metres of new flex but not the plug as it is a French one. It is in very good used condition with some very minor signs of use to the reflector's surface. The reflector has its original high temperature painted surface and still has the bulb wattage/voltage sticker intact. The switch is in the base. I have included the lamp's weighted vehicle brake disc base in the sale. These lamps are very sort after and nice examples like this are becoming difficult to find. The photos don't do it justice! The lamp takes a Standard Bayonet cap bulb(B22) which are available at all DIY outlets. Bulb not included. The maximum wattage is 150w. Jielde lamps were designed by Jean-Louis Domecq for direct mounting on machine tools and for use in workshops. The lamps have now become particularly fashionable for use in loft style apartments and in homes generally as desk lamp/floor or wall lamps. So, hence I have fitted a trailing flexible lead to make the light more useable in the home. I have displayed this light using a vehicle brake disc which provides a solid base to show a typical method of mounting the light. Heavy sprockets. Hardwood- anything heavy will do the job. The light can also be fixed to a wall if required using its mounting base/bracket which has 3 holes in it. Although the light isn't heavy, it will require a solid wall and sturdy fixings to mount it as the movement required to adjust the lamp to the desired position will put stress on the mounting. If you do not want the brake disc included in the sale, then I will discount the postage by £10. Dimensions: Maximum extended height is 110cm( 44" The shade dia. is 16cm. This is a turn of the century wood lap desk with some issues. It measures about 11-5/8" by 8" by 3-1/2" deep. The wood is probably walnut or mahogany and does have age wear- a solid box- both the cover and the bottom have splits as you can see in the photos- has the compartments- one of the small dividers is missing- not sure if the locking mechanism works as there is no key. This is most likely late 18th, early 19th century, but possibly Civil War era. These first started to appear in the last decades of the 18th Century. This particular Desk isn't as ornate as many of the writing desks that I have seen here on ebay. Or online. This one seems to have been made purely for it's practical purpose. It shows it's age. But is still in good solid shape. It does have a few stains though. But. I guess it could possibly be refinished. I could say. circa 1880's" but I wouldn't want to sell it short(it could be much older) It's made of solid wood, with flat head screws and square headed bolts. Top measures 42" wide by 31" deep. Dovetail. Tongue and groove, set cross beams under the entire length of the top. Estate sale find. Talked to the owner and it was used as a lectern at the University of Chicago until 1950. He saw a professor getting rid of it. And saved it from the dumpster. It is Stamped" Geol. 2815" in a few places. Underside marked in yellow crayon. Every surface shows hand planing marks on this classic and functional furniture. The beautifully figured one-board drop front rests on pull out supports. Lock and key work. Inside are tiny drawers with exquisite dovetail joints and compartments for papers- old India ink stains show this was a working desk. Brasses appear original on lower hand dovetailed drawers with chamfered bottoms. The bottom drawer has a warp, also there are numerous shrinkage separations from age, see photos. This paymaster desk was used to record work hours and pay the staff in cash before the age of income tax. The slanting top has galleries to hold ledgers and journals. Distressed saddle leather in the center panel has an adjustable easel underneath. Drawers and the back of the case are all hand dovetailed. Inner surfaces are hand planed, drawers have oak sides. Wrought iron locks work with keys provided. Mahogany with matched flame grain has a superb gleaming finish. This well preserved antique from northern Europe has clean and contemporary lines. French Louis XVI Style Bonheur Du Jour Antique Writing Desk France c. 1890-1910. Mahogany Veneers with Brass Stringer Inlay Cylindrical Top Desk with Mechanical Movement Item# 120012OWP03 This is a simply gorgeous French Louis XVI style Bonheur Du Jour Cylinder Top Antique Desk. A wonderful visual accomplishment. This desk revives the Napoleonic tastes of the late 18th Century, in every way capturing the Neoclassical taste for clean lines and stoic structure juxtaposed with lavish ornamentation. Mounted with precisely executed brass and bronze hardware and embellishments, the desk is mutually reserved and royal. Crafted almost entirely by hand, this is a stunning and highly complex work, using gorgeous mahogany veneers to cover all visible surfaces of the desk. The cylinder top has an interesting mechanism whereby the opening of the lower ... moredrawer opens the roll top. Once the cylinder top is opened. The desk lid is accessible, now easily opened to lay supported on the open drawer- this reveals an original tooled black and gilt leather writing surface, three small hand dovetailed drawers, a pen rest flanked by inkwell cubbies and a storage space inside. Resting over that are three larger drawers. Again each hand dovetailed with solid mahogany secondary woods, the bottom of each drawer chamfered along the sides to rabbet into the frame and nailed at the back with tiny nails. A curious inscription on the pine beneath the middle top drawer is a possible attribution to it's maker, an upside-down V with an S scrolled inside- the same inscription appears in very large proportions on the backboard as viewed by removing the top drawers and peering back into the antique french desk. The interior is inscrutable unfortunately. Much of it being locked up with the dust boards, roll top and lower drawer that is not removable. Each drawer is framed in brass tubular molding around the gilt bronze drawer hardware. The top is a piece of mottled red and cream marble. Antique small Captain's or Davenport desk. Mom and Dad collected antiques for decades. Starting in the 1950's, this is from their estate. Dad often would provide cards on some of their antiques. The following is his writeup: Captain's desk. 32" high by 21" wide by 20" deep. Height to writing surface is 27" at front, 29" at back, has 18" wide by 5 1/4" deep raised compartment with hinged lid. Has four drawers, each with two pulls that open on the RH side, false fronts and pulls on LH side, each drawer 11" wide by 4 1/4" high by 16" deep. Has two inside drawers under writing surface. VERY NICE ANTIQUE FOLD OUT WRITING SLOPE/ DESK- LATE 1800's? MAHOGANY? Up for sale is this very nice writing slope. We don't know the age of this item but it looks like it's from the late 1800's. It might be oak or mahogany. But whatever it is it's very nice. It has a little drawer below the writing slope area. The slope folds out and has a leather surface, this may have been replaced at some point. The hinges on the side also don't look original and were probably replaced. You can tell around the hinges where the wood failed and they replaced the hinges. The top flips up too to allow access to the slots for papers and envelopes that is in the back. Behind the writing slope is a wider area to hold other things. We've tried to show how the whole thing works in the first five pictures. The top has a lock but it doesn't ... morehave a key. The drawer has a lock on it and it does have the key as you can see in the pictures. It's very nicely done. The drawer is dovetail mortised on the sides. It's a very nice size and would be fairly portable if you needed it to be. It measures 14.5" W x 9.25" D x 10.25" H. The slope part is 13.75" H by 13.25" W. It weighs 9 lbs. This heavy old oak railroad desk has a hinged. Slant top with storage under lid and book storage in the back with a latch on the door. It was made to be a free-standing desk that could be in the middle of a room or train station rather than against a wall(although I have it against a wall in my home due to space limitations) Top has a pierced decorative piece; also slot for pen and ink wells. Original patina; never refinished. Desk measures 25.5 inches wide x 25.75 inches deep x 36.5 inches ... moretall/high. Great piece of railroad history. Condition: You can see cracks in lid and bottom of drawer along seams of where the wood was glued together at point of construction. Ink stains/spills inside drawer. offered for sale is a fabulous r j horner true mahogany partner's desk. it is the largest model i believe. the top is 56 inches wide. 34 inches deep, and 32 inches tall. the knee hole is a bit over 24 inches tall. on each side there are two drawers on the right and a middle drawer over the knee hole. on the left is a door on each side that opens with folder dividers placed within. one side is a mirror image of the other, there are no fake doors, drawers, etc. on this piece. it is a very clean and neat piece and in near mint condition. there are few bumps and bruises here and there, but none that are noteworthy nor do they take away from the structure, function, and beauty of the desk. the mahogany in the piece is very good and is flame mahogany with wonderful grain throughout. i hope the pictures are good enough to display the beauty ... moreof this desk. of course the desk is not for everyone, just for those who want the best. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. i can help arrange transportation if that would be beneficial to anyone. good luck. by the way, these are quite rare and hard to come by. the last one i saw sell brought 16K at an auction with a 15 per cent buyers premium, which put it up to 18,400 when the smoke cleared.

Beautiful Oak Butlers Desk from the middle of last century(1840's to 1870's) Nice condition with some minor issues that you would expect from being used over the last century and a half. Oak is the main wood with Walnut and Birds Eye Maple as the secondary(drawer fronts and desk top) Needs a cleaning and a light touch up but otherwise a great desk that would make a statement in your home! Scuffing along the bottom where the shoes would be as you sat there and one spot on the top(picture 11) Light scratching along the front and top as normal wear would occur. The desk retains the original photograph from when it was retailed by Jacques Bodart, Inc. during the first quarter of the 20th Century, noting this as#1681. It is a gorgeous piece, the original gilt highlighted tooled green leather preserved in remarkable condition, framed in well patinated molded mahogany over five drawers. Tall Antique Victorian Oak Cylinder Desk Carved Secretary Glass Front Shelves
Fantastic Victorian era cylinder top desk. Made from oak with pine secondary woods. Panelled back and sides. The large upper cabinet has flexible. Movable shelves and period glass doors. It rests atop a cylinder or roll top desk area with a small drawer and several pigeon holes. The writing surface is covered in black felt and pulls out to provide a larger area. There is a large overhanging drawer as well as two smaller drawers and a cabinet below, for even more storage. All of the drawers have brass pulls and escutcheons and dovetail joints. The lower area is spoon carved in a charming leaf pattern. This piece most likely dates from the late 1800's. This piece is in good condition. But does have some cosmetic flaws, as is to be expected in a piece of this age. Several of the escutcheons are missing as well as the door pulls on the upper ... morecabinet. The drawer pulls are loose as well and one of the escutcheons looks like it has been reattached. There is a piece of wood missing from the molding below the desk top as well. See picture) There is also significant wear to the felted writing surface. No other significant damage or repairs. The entire desk stands about 88" 7'4" tall. New lowered reserve- This Secretary Desk was purchased in New York@ the end of the 19th Century and was passed down from my great great Grandmother finally to me. I couldn’t find any specific maker or label anywhere. But I just might not know where to look. It’s in pretty good overall condition considering its age. My Grandmother said it was from 1897( 115 years old) She died in 1982 and I have had it since. There is one portion near the top edge( 3rd from last pic) which must have come off when I moved last year, but it seems nominal and the repair should be straight forward. I was able to simply hide this in a right side corner configuration and it was not really noticeable looking at it from the left side or straight on, only unless you were looking from the right. Very Rare Antique Eastlake Desktop Desk Secretary Organizer Primitive Federal
WHAT YOU ARE BUYING/BIDDING ON One Antique Desktop Secretary DESCRIPTION This antique desktop secretary organizer is most unique and exceptional. It comes to us from an 78 year old lady who acquired it from her mothers old barn. The stuff she brought us had been stored and untouched for at least 40 years. It was most likely a one of a kind creation from an Ohio farmer or carpenter. The secretary was rough planed and you can still see the circular saw marks(see pictures) The circular saw was invented in 1830s. So the secretary was made no earlier than 1830. There are also cut nails used at most of the jointings. It is very primitive and excellent example of early craftsmanship. CONDITION Overall. This piece is in ok condition for its age. When closed it is structurally very sturdy, but when opened, the front part separates a little. This could ... morebe fixed depending on the purpose of use and desire. Antique Walnut Cylinder Desk Victorian Era c. Late 1800's Roll Top Barrel
Outstanding Victorian walnut cylinder desk. This intricately detailed piece has definite Eastlake influences including a decorative grid pattern that borders the panelled sides and back and elaborate scroll decoration below the writing surface. Cylinder top conceals pigeon holes and a pull-out writing surface covered in emerald green felt. Brass hinges. Diamond-shaped escutcheons and rosette-mounted bail handle drawer pulls. One long shallow top drawers as well as three half-size drawers and a generous cabinet space. Dowel construction throughout including the drawers, top and back. The locking mechanisms in the drawers have two patent dates- April, 1875 and August, 1882. No maker's marks. Over all this piece is in very good condition. Especially considering its age. There ... moreare also some cracks or seperations in the wood, probably caused by drying, most notably in the scroll on the right side and on the side just above it. Also pictured. There are a few small dings and dents and some light wear associated with age, but otherwise no significant damage. The desk stands 40" tall. Eastlake 1875 Victorian Antique Secretary Desk. Carved of solid walnut about 1875 during the late Victorian or Eastlake period. A charming secretary desk has burl panels. The finish is in very beautiful condition with a few mars and stains at the edges plus a few warps for antique character. There are also old India ink stains inside. See photos. Hardware is original. The lock and key work on the dropfront of this American hand made furniture. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and there is gallery bookshelf on top. Victorian Eastlake 1880 Antique Secretary Desk. Sliding Top. A spectacular secretary desk with a lift and slide front dates from about 1880. During the late Victorian or Eastlake period. Solid walnut with incised carving and burl panels. The satiny finish is in excellent condition with especially warm antique patina. Brass pulls are original on deep drawers with"pin and cove" dovetails, characteristic of the period. Bottom right and left are file drawers. Leather with 24k gold tooling is new on the writing surface and both pull out shelves. Inside are tiny cubicles for papers and pen trays. There are losses to the bottom lip of the lift lid.
