Condition: Used Location: Novato, United States I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite ... morelike it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. The dimensions are 40 1/2” tall its tallest point. 33 1/2“ wide at its widest point at the base, and 19” deep when closed,and 34“ deep when opened. Local pickup only.

This is a great antique 19th century French slant front desk with excellent craftsmanship shown in the carving work and the lid where you can see the hand planing that was done to the piece. The hardware is all original on this piece but the leather has been replaced. Tall Antique Victorian Oak Cylinder Desk Carved Secretary Glass Front Shelves
Fantastic Victorian era cylinder top desk. Made from oak with pine secondary woods. Panelled back and sides. The large upper cabinet has flexible. Movable shelves and period glass doors. It rests atop a cylinder or roll top desk area with a small drawer and several pigeon holes. The writing surface is covered in black felt and pulls out to provide a larger area. There is a large overhanging drawer as well as two smaller drawers and a cabinet below, for even more storage. All of the drawers have brass pulls and escutcheons and dovetail joints. The lower area is spoon carved in a charming leaf pattern. This piece most likely dates from the late 1800's. This piece is in good condition. But does have some cosmetic flaws, as is to be expected in a piece of this age. Several of the escutcheons are missing as well as the door pulls on the upper ... morecabinet. The drawer pulls are loose as well and one of the escutcheons looks like it has been reattached. There is a piece of wood missing from the molding below the desk top as well. Antique 1800's desk slant front top or possibly a counter top desk for a country store. Etc. I believe that it's all original with the original outside finish and interior light green paint. The wood is walnut, popular back in the old days. The early desk hardware is pictured in photos# 3 and# 8. As you can see it possibly is a desk that just sat on a counter, etc. because of the way it's not finished on bottom and not much of evidence of any nails or screws holding it on to a base, so possibly a complete unit in itself and all complete. Photo#9 shows the pencil or pen holder that extents the whole inside front. In photo#4 the hole for an early ink well can be seen. It measures about 26 inches wide, about 20 1\4 inches deep and about 8 1\2 inches high in back and about 6 1\2 inches high in front. You can notice in photos#2,3,and#8 that the interior top looks lighter than the outside which is common with antiques where the outside is exposed to light, smoke, dust etc. thru the years darkening the color and I would say the exterior is close to a medium(Early American Minwax) color which is a desirable color for antiques.It's a fairly heavy piece about 26 lbs. and shipping will vary depending on where it's going just to let you know. Antique Georgian Federal(?) Secretary Slant Front Desk Four Drawer Bureau 1840
Family lore has it that this was made in 1840 but I don't know for sure. This was my father's father and. Given to me but I'm headed to. South America and none of our children want it. All the drawers and top are joined. With dovetails at the corners. All the drawer bottoms have chamfered. Ends that fit into a tight track in the drawer. Sides. I'm guessing that drawer facewood. Is cherry(mahogany? and hinder parts of drawers made from boxwood. All the drawers fit precisely. The large drawers have grooves worn in them. From riding over guidance rails in the front of. The drawer entry points(see pics) It looks like. This was by design to accommodate the heavy. Drawers(which are prob mahogany. Not cherry) Veneer is poor in several areas. Esp the slope top front. The back view pic shows two arrows pointing out the width of a single ... moreboard which is a whopping 21 1/2 inches wide. Included in this pic at the bottom are shown. The three pieces of molding that need to be glued back onto the'ankles' The brass balls in the feet at each corner rotate. In fact, as I was rolling the 200 lb desk back inside after the photo shoot. I'll put it back in place with some wood screws. Before sending it out. Here is a fantastic find.an antique SOLID walnut slant front desk probably from the Pennsylvania area circa 1830 to possibly 1850. The walnut has a deep and beautiful grain and patina. All of the drawers are inlaid with satinwood stringing, each drawer is hand dovetailed, the brass hardware pulls and escutcheons are original, the hidden drawer is shaped and in the interior section behind small door, bracket feet are original, secondary wood is pine and the back boards of pine are hand planed. Scott" Norfolk, VA" The piece measures approximately 43-5/8" tall, 40" wide, and 20-3/4" deep. The cuts of wood used for the front drawers are absolutely beautiful. The drawers feature hand cut dovetailing and hand planed bottoms. The hardware appears to be all original, and all of the drawers retain their locks. We think the wooden pulls are replacements, but they are very well matched and we are not certain of that. Real Nice C.1870's Slant Front Desk We are pleased to offer this Early Victorian Circa 1870's Slant Front Desk in Dark Oak. It has all the original brass hardware. Three drawers and one small lower cabinet. There are nice floral carvings on the top drawer and on the Slant Front door. The drawers do open and close smoothly. There is an old slide lock which seams to have been added a very long time ago to keep the Slant Front door closed. On the inside there are 16 various size compartments and one small drawer. All drawers are dovetailed. The writing area has a leather surface but is worn with some rips to it and should be replaced. It is usable as is but we can replace it for you for an additional $175.00 if you wish. The desk overall is very solid and in very good condition with no movement whatsoever. Early 1800's American Antique Federal Slant Drop Front / Secretary Desk
This is a gorgeous. Early 1800's, American Federal style secretary. Solid wood made from cherry and tiger oak. Has a beautiful tulip inlay. It has some slight cracks on the slant top of the desk shown in photos but is in great condition for being 200 years old. The right pull-out support for the desk is missing the knob but an easy fix.
