There are brass accents and a lock mechanism. But no key. The sloped writing desk still contains the original wood pen holder(7 1/2" long, 2" wide and 3/4" tall) and the glass powder jar with cover(1" tall and 1 1/2" wide) There are bits of wood veneer missing on the top and corners. There is some staining. And a few minor rips to the black and blue velvet on the inside. There is scuffing and scratching on the bottom. An amazing. Substantial piece weighing twenty-eight pounds. Additional storage is found below the desk area consisting of an area with a ornate door measuring 20" x 14 1\2" deep. The drawer below this storage area measures 2" x 14 1\2" deep x 5" High. To the left of the desk is a tall shelf area with four adjustable shelves for storage or acting as a bookcase again having fine ornate wood carving over the glass door front. The ornate carvings on the front of the fold-down desk and upper glass door appear Victorian. Work is needed for refinishing this piece to bring it back to its original beauty. Some wooden back pieces shown in front. Need to be fixed to the back of the desk area and one more missing piece to make the back complete. Overall measurements: 63 ½” high 42 3\4" Wide 14 ½” deep The carved decorative top piece laying in front is shaped to hold a mirror which fits between the pieces and sits on the top of the desk area. So I will be listing several items ... morefor sale. Please check out my other items. This is an extremely rare antique schoolhouse, or possibly a university, desk. It is hand hewn solid wood, very thick for todays standards. It was manufactured by the George M. Hammer Co. Ltd. in Strand London in the late 1800's or possibly the VERY early 1900's. They were builders of church and school furniture in England. It still has the brass ink well cover as shown in the pictures and also still has the porcelain casters. The desk part slide in and out for comfort and fit. The bas is 34" long, 11" wide in the front and 14" wide in the back. The desk section measures 22" long, 19" wide, 10" tall in the back and 6" tall in the front. It is 38" tall in the back. It is missing one small wood brace as shown in the pictures. I have had a lot of school desks over the years but this is by far the most unique and rare I have ever found.

VERY NICE ANTIQUE FOLD OUT WRITING SLOPE/ DESK- LATE 1800's? MAHOGANY? Up for sale is this very nice writing slope. We don't know the age of this item but it looks like it's from the late 1800's. It might be oak or mahogany. But whatever it is it's very nice. It has a little drawer below the writing slope area. The slope folds out and has a leather surface, this may have been replaced at some point. The hinges on the side also don't look original and were probably replaced. You can tell around the hinges where the wood failed and they replaced the hinges. The top flips up too to allow access to the slots for papers and envelopes that is in the back. Behind the writing slope is a wider area to hold other things. We've tried to show how the whole thing works in the first five pictures. The top has a lock but it doesn't ... morehave a key. The drawer has a lock on it and it does have the key as you can see in the pictures. It's very nicely done. The drawer is dovetail mortised on the sides. It's a very nice size and would be fairly portable if you needed it to be. It measures 14.5" W x 9.25" D x 10.25" H. The slope part is 13.75" H by 13.25" W. It weighs 9 lbs. This is a beautiful Antique Victorian Eastlake style Writing Desk. It is walnut with leather type writing top. It is very well made and in very good condition for its age. I estimate it was made in the late 1800's. It is all original. It measures 45 3/4" high and 25 3/4" wide and 19" deep. There is a 5" shelf above the writing top and inside has areas for pens. Etc. Antique Walnut Cylinder Desk Victorian Era c. Late 1800's Roll Top Barrel
Outstanding Victorian walnut cylinder desk. This intricately detailed piece has definite Eastlake influences including a decorative grid pattern that borders the panelled sides and back and elaborate scroll decoration below the writing surface. Cylinder top conceals pigeon holes and a pull-out writing surface covered in emerald green felt. Brass hinges. Diamond-shaped escutcheons and rosette-mounted bail handle drawer pulls. One long shallow top drawers as well as three half-size drawers and a generous cabinet space. Dowel construction throughout including the drawers, top and back. The locking mechanisms in the drawers have two patent dates- April, 1875 and August, 1882. No maker's marks. Over all this piece is in very good condition. Especially considering its age. Antique oak slant top desk. Slant top section lifts on brass H-hinges from the top providing an excellent storage space beneath. Secondary wood is pine. The flat side area has been covered in green felt and has two small drawers. Drawers are framed with molding and have decorative wooden pulls and sturdy dovetail joints. Antique Walnut Stand Up Drafting Desk - cica late 1800
Unique antique stand up American Walnut drafting desk. I purchased this desk 30 years ago and now no longer have a place for it. It came out of a beer brewery in Cincinnati Ohio. I estimate it to be over 130 years old. I was told it was 100 years old when I bought it. It is perfect for a stand up desk or for drafting blueprints. I also have a wooden screw stool which is correct height and can be purchased separately( stool is not an antique) Top does not lift but three drawers pull out. The whole top lifts off leg stand and held in place by balance and wooden pins.Two small nicks in surface which do not show on photo. Buyer will arrange for moving and pay all moving costs.In storage so cannot measure but about 5 foot wide and 3.5 foot deep.

I believe this lap desk original came from SPAIN. This travel lap desk has been used through the years so there are expected signs of wear from normal use. The wood on the bottom has a split. I am sure not too difficult of a repair. The red cloth writing surface is worn and a bit soiled. The wood is overall nice but there are some minor scratches and scuffs from age and use. This is a original antique secretary desk. It is a beautiful piece and in nice condition considering it's age. The original company sticker is inside the bottom drawer. It is the Udell Works company. This company built furniture in Indiana and Chicago. At different times. The company existed from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The wood grain is beautiful. It has a fold down top, two drawers, and space inside the fold down top for storage. There is a key hole lock but no key. The measurements are approximately 27-1/2 inches wide, 17 inches deep, and 41 inches high. When the fold down is open for writing, it extends another 13 inches, which makes a total depth approximately 30 inches when opened. There are some stains inside the desk and one of the drawers and some fading of the wood. Oak Secretary/Bookcase Desk - Antique - Late 1800's
Oak Secretary Desk/Bookcase– American Late 1800’s– one of a kind. Refinished and restored by a professional company. Medium oak with original hardware. High quality detailed claw feet in front and carved design on front of drop down desk top. Carved design on the front of the canopy at the top of the desk. The mirrors are original and are beveled around the perimeter of each mirror. The mirror on the left was broken. But has been put back together, but shows the crack. There are three drawers below the drop down desk top which are functional and slide in and out easily. The bookcase on the left has four shelves which are adjustable plus the bottom is also a shelf. The curved glass on the front of the bookcase is cracked from stress when moving this piece of furniture. It can be replaced. See photos. Astounding Late 1800's / Early 1900's Texas Folk Art Desk Furniture Tramp Art
An exceptional Texas folk art desk made circa 100 years ago. Possibly longer. Very fine craftsmanship and in very good condition. Top is 28 x 21 inches and overall 36 inches. Sections of it have been varnished within the last 30-40 years. And we believe the back end of the drawer has been refurbished within the same period. Antique Writing Desk (Early 1900 or Late 1800)
Acquired by family in early 1900's. Grandfather believes piece was made in 1897-98. Nice Writing Desk. Great workmanship with a lot of features. Everything seen functions well for its age. A great solid piece of furniture. I made two drawers for the inside if you would like to have them at no cost. Locks do work on generic single key. No key provided but easy to acquire. Folding support braces that support writing lid are missing. Easy to find and replace if desired. I always used top desk drawer as support.

This is an exquisite antique handcrafted schoolmaster desk. It is in excellent condition and as you can tell from the pictures has a vibrant walnut finish. We believe this to be a hardwood such as walnut or birch. Not entirely sure. There are no markings on this piece, but any knowledgeable professional dealing with antiques will tell you that not all antique furniture needs to have markings on it to make it special.
