Up for auction is a great antique desk with wonderful slant front and turned legs. I think the wood is called tiger maple. I found this desk in Bucks County Pennsylvania. Now relocated to CT- selling lots of antique furniture. Measurements are about 25" wide. 25 1/2" deep and 36" high. See photos for condition. Missing most of the inside drawers. Wood(especially the edges) have nicks. Dents and scratches. There is writing and a stamp(name) on the underside of the slant top. Great character. 1800s Antique Schoolmasters Desk Cherry and Tiger Maple w/ Functional Flat Top
This circa 1850 Antique Desk is 35 ½ in. high. With the gallery, and has a 32 ½ in. writing surface. The width is 38 ½ in. and the depth is 24 ¼ in. The top is level not tilted; this makes for a versatile table like surface. It is made of Cherry with a Tiger Maple drawer front. Hand cut dovetails were used on the gallery and drawer. It has had a recent restoration with replaced bottoms on the two left hand legs, reglueing the frame, and repairing some losses on the wood surface. An overcoat was added to the old finish without removing the aged patina of marks, stains, and color of the wood surface. There is a small chip at the bottom left hand side of the gallery. Overall it is in good sturdy condition for a piece over 150 years old. Please look at the photographs as they are considered part of the description.
