They've been in air conditioned storage since that time. These were commonly used by the medical profession. They are rare. That's for sure. The finish of the paint is still in remarkable condition, though they still need a thorough cleaning. Many of the pictures show the shiny surface of the paint, which was manufactured by DuPont. The metal surface was prepared and sprayed with a rust proofer by the Parker Rust Proof Co, with their product called Bonderite. From the"How to care for SIMMONS FURNITURE guide" SIMMONS FURNITURE protected and enhanced with Du Pont satin-finished HI-BAKE DULUX. SIMMONS Steel furniture is specially finished with Hi-Bake DULUX for outstanding beauty and durability. DULUX is an exceptionally hard finish with excellent moisture resistance that protects against rust or corrosion. With proper care. SIMMONS furniture remains beautifully new for years. Overall condition is good. The drawers are in good condition. With the top drawers showing a little rust on the inside. The second drawer down has only a small amount of rust showing, and the bottom drawer shows no rust. The drawer guides could use some graphite to restore the smooth fluid movement of opening and closing. Each piece has it's own forgivings. I tried my best to display in detail the extent of the abrasions. Dents and scratches. Examine the pictures carefully. If you need larger pics, or perhaps a different view, contact me and I'll send you the requested pics asap. The footstool's fabric is intact- no rips. Tears, holes or cracks and the material is soft and pliable. Someone removed what appears to be shipping tape- and that managed to remove some of the color in a small area which is more noticeable in the pictures than in person. WHAT YOU ARE BUYING/BIDDING ON One Antique Desktop Secretary DESCRIPTION This antique desktop secretary organizer is most unique and exceptional. It comes to us from an 78 year old lady who acquired it from her mothers old barn. The stuff she brought us had been stored and untouched for at least 40 years. It was most likely a one of a kind creation from an Ohio farmer or carpenter. The secretary was rough planed and you can still see the circular saw marks(see pictures) The circular saw was invented in 1830s. So the secretary was made no earlier than 1830. There are also cut nails used at most of the jointings. It is very primitive and excellent example of early craftsmanship. CONDITION Overall. This piece is in ok condition for its age. Just removed from local estate is this Rare 19th century English Architect Desk. On 4 legs with castor wheels. The top is covered with a beautiful gold tooled leather. There is one large drawer which features a desk interior. Fitted with a pair of removable ink jars with Sterling silver lids. There is one more narrow but long drawer on the other side. Two sides have a pair of great candle stands that pull out. Top it seld is adjustable, it has a support legs below, that help you set the incline to your liking. This is a beautiful and rare piece. It is a 19th century and I was told possibly 18th century French desk that was painted and gilded to be free standing as the design is also in the back. It has lovely lines and it is beautifully painted with flowers and medallions. The dimensions of this desk is 39 inches high x 24 inches wide and the depth is 16 inches. the interior is painted a reddish color. Here we have for auction a stuning Napoleon III Empire style mahogany and brass inlaid twin pedestal desk dating to the mid 19th century. This beautiful example has a moss green baize inset top over a bank of three frieze drawers being raised on twin pedestals with column detailing on spread pad feet. The cupboard doors open to reveal sliding drawers and shelves. The desk is also finished to the rear in a similar style so could easily be used in the middle of a rom. The drawers are finished in similar brass inlay as are the cupboard doors and pedestals and a key is provided to open the drawers. DESK Elaborate hand carvings throughout the entire desk include 2 beautiful ladies protruding from sides of desk. There are 5 carved open compartments for organizing and a hidden drawer that opens the full length of the desk with 4 divided sections inside. The top center includes a compartment that incases the original clock. On the lid is a hand carved cupid. Underneath the desk is a paper disposal original period brown velvet sack with a hanging cord attached to a lovely ivory pearl stone set within a bronze circular ring with designs. A walnut wood weight is attached. The desk is in very ... moregood aged condition without repairs. There are two tips missing from the delicate finials located on left side underneath the desk and on the right side bottom between the legs. You will need to really search in the pictures because they are very hard to find. The desk measures 52" high x 34" width x 21" depth. This is Italian workmanship from the old days that can not be found in modern times. CUPID measuring 9" height and 6" at the widest part attached to the top that covers the compartment where the clock sits. Very good aged condition. CLOCK The clock has 3 different hand designs and incased in bronze? solid brass. The face is a natural cream ivory? porcelain with black Roman numerals. The face is aged with some hairlines but the numerals are bold without any color loss. The clock has 2 front legs and a weighted bronze pendulum that you can view from the photo. The drawer fronts are solid wood and not veneers. It measures 47 inches long by 30 inches tall 18.75 inches deepest depth. Here's what I stated about this gorgeous desk's condition: Some chips and wood splits in area but overall strikingly beautiful condition very strong. Sturdy, and stable and nothing broken. Some minor scratch marks on surface areas. Looks like possibly a repair or replacement wood on one side because of the two slabs of wood evident. Cutler& Sons roll top desk. This is a very rare antique desk accessory marked A. Cutler& Sons Buffalo. New York with a pat. date of 1884. It is in excellent condition and would allow the owner to have his pens and inks ready and able to be switched by simply rotating the cast iron holder. There is a catch on one end that would allow you to hook this to a drawer or possibly there was another spot on the desk to attach. Solid mahogany and original matte gold painted cast iron, this would be a fancy accessory for any roll top desk owner. Measures 13" long x 5" wide x 3" deep. RARE ANTIQUE MILITARY OFFICER'S TRAVELLING CAMPAIGN DESK VANITY
This is a hard to find. Original Antique Military Officer's Travelling Campaign Desk and Vanity. We believe that this piece is English in origin and may date to the early 1800's. This piece measures approximately 25" wide by 19 1/4" deep by 33 1/2" tall when closed. This piece has so many features and functions. The main body has a horizontal and vertical drawer. This can be seen in the 8th and 9th photo, with the dovetailing and interiors shown. There is one large drawer which pulls out to reveal a vanity compartment, which is metal lined, this would have most likely contained bowls and implements for washing and shaving, etc. Directly above this drawer is a pull out writing ledge, which is topped in leather(obviously replaced) and contains a secret storage for documents or what have you, which is revealed when one ... morelifts up on the tab on the back of the writing surface when fully pulled out. The top of the case of the desk/vanity opens up.The lid can be supported by a brass hinge on the right or by a prop up stick which sits. Hidden in the top compartment of the desk, serving also as a holder for writing implements, or the top can be supported by the mirror. The mirror, which is wooden backed folds down in order to close the top, however it is adjustable with an easel back and a notched base, the mirror also slides back and forth. There are numerous compartments in the top of the piece. Many of which are removable. There is one secret drawer in the top left rear.which is revealed by removing a lid, then sliding out a small wooden divider. This can be seen clearly in the sixth photo provided. Although there are some condition issues. This piece, overall, is in remarkable condition considering its age and the fact that it was a functioning piece which was transported perhaps on and off a ship or into a tent on a battlefield. Hand sand, made a drawer, made two carved handles and made one wooden knob. You will call me when you see this desk in person to say“John I can’t find it” after you look all over for the replacement parts and I will say“that is because this guy is phenomenal at what he does. The desk is very unusual with swing side ends, which means that they flip around with a latch that allows it to go to the back side so the“S” top(which normally is a pain for people with computers, will not be a problem with this desk) Someone had lost the original thumb latch locks, and has replaced with modern day locks, which work fine. The roll has been all re-canvassed and re-glued so it won’t rip apart as original rolls usually done. While doing a little remodeling to my home and having to move everything around. I realized I have far too much stuff. So I will be listing several items for sale. Please check out my other items. This is an extremely rare antique schoolhouse, or possibly a university, desk. It is hand hewn solid wood, very thick for todays standards. It was manufactured by the George M. Hammer Co. Ltd. in Strand London in the late 1800's or possibly the VERY early 1900's. They were builders of church and school furniture in England. It still has the brass ink well cover as shown in the pictures and also still has the porcelain casters. The desk part slide in and out for comfort and fit. The bas is 34" long, 11" wide in the front and 14" wide in the back. The desk section measures 22" long, 19" wide, 10" tall in the back ... moreand 6" tall in the front. It is 38" tall in the back. It is missing one small wood brace as shown in the pictures. I have had a lot of school desks over the years but this is by far the most unique and rare I have ever found.

Antique Letter Hand Note Clip Silver Plate Mother of Pearl Paris 1889(RARE FIND)
This in an antique letter/ hand note clip. It is silver with a shell inlay. It does have the felt lining on the bottom. The base is mother of pearl inlaid in a silver plated dome. The stem has beadwork. The top has a hand that has a tight spring clip. It is gorgeous and beautiful! I am listing these as I originally found them. I have not polished them. This is a unique and rare find. It's been in my family for some time now. It is 4 ¾” tall and the bases are 2” in diameter. These are in excellent vintage condition. They have some very minor age wear but no other damage. The picture in the photo is not included. It's an old family photo of mine. It's original sticker on the bottom said"Paris 1889 Berkeley CA" but came off and never to be seen again.

Very very old rare piece. Needs cleaned and polished. Comes with scuffs. Scratches and surface wear. Very nice sturdy piece. Has been refinished a long time ago. There is some peeling of the polished/ stain/ paint. It looks like a think stain but not sure so you be the judge. The door does come down for writing. The door does not have a key. Measures when door is closed, 56"x33"x23" Has both square and round nails. Has a couple wood chips but nothing bad. Very nice piece. You are bidding on an Rare 19th Century Antique Rosewood Sliding Fliptop Davenport Writing Desk This is a beautiful Antique 19th Century Davenport Desk. Circu 1820's by what I could find in my research. Its finish, internally and externally is excellent. sometimes refered to as"Ship's Captain's" desks. Davenports had a compact design that took up very little space. Reputed to have gotten their name from the inventor. Captain John Davenport, back in the days of Clipper Ships trading to the Far East. This Davenport Desk is a beautiful example of old world workmanship enhanced with inlaid designs. The top of the desk is tan leather with an embossed design running along the perimeter. The Desktop slides forward for a better writing position. And had a hinged lift top with inside storage and 1 usable drawers. The inkwell ... moredoor on the desktop does not latch. But is still in great shape. The Drawers on the Left are fake. Allowing for the deep right side lockable drawers. The Fliptop desktop and sidedrawers are lockable. And the unit comes with 2 keys(Pictured) Antique item in excellent but not perfect condition. A few trim pieces are loose or missing, and there are some marks and chips in the rosewood venner. The Left Side Faux drawers have some splitting that is not as noticable from the outside. Usable as is with minor repairs. But deserving of a much more in depth restoration than I am capable of. nice estate find a 1800s lap desk crazy with mother of pearl inlay on the top this thing has been around for a long time i think the wood might be ebony i am not sure it has some damage to the coners so look at the pics good it show wear all over but is a neat old part of history the velvet show wear inside and has crackling of the black paint all over has a little ink bottle in it also could you think about pulling this out to use instead of your hp laptop who know what they will be useing 150 years from now its 15 1/2 inches by 12 inches by 4 3/4 inches. UNUSUAL rare Antique Oak Portable ROLL TOP Desk File Box with Drawer 1800"s
This is so cool. Beautiful oak file box. It is marked with what looks like a K in a circle and reads Office Equipment. It has a smooth moving roll top. And a small drawer below. I got this at an estate sale and it had calligraphy ink and pens inside. There are ink stains. But wow, this is so neat it's a file cabinet box, and I'm not sure of its original use. Dove tailed edges, and 2 small metal handles, one for the roll top and the other for the drawer. Other than staining, this is in excellent condition. Beautiful tight grain oak. This measures 10.25" long, it is almost 6'5" wide and it's height starts at just over 3" in the front, rising to just under 4" at the back. Really an unusual piece. I have never seen another like this. I am guessing this is from the late 1800"s Thanks for looking.
