The writing surface is inlaid with rich brown leather bordered by gold tooling-which was replaced during a recent restoration that also included a new coat of hand-rubbed wax. In total, this desk features three drawers and two cabinets on one side, with seven standard drawers and a file drawer on the other. Conveniently this desk disassembles quite easily: like all pedestal desks, the top simply rests securely on the two pedestals. Some of the surfaces show some minor wear marks, particularly on the feet, but they are very minor indeed, so overall condition is excellent, especially for a desk from this period. Partners' Desk- Antique English Mahogany -London- circa 1850
This over-sized partner's desk was made in England circa 1850. I found it in an antique store in 1974 and restored it. It served as my desk in my 40 years practicing law. And it never failed to draw compliments. It is the ingenious"pedestal" style, meaning that it consists of three pieces: 2 side pedestals(on concealed rollers) which contain locking drawers on one side and cabinets on the other, and the top which is inlaid leather. The top is grooved so as to fit perfectly atop the pedestals for a solid connection,yet easy moving. The tops of these desks were made of one solid piece of mahogany. As such, they are prone to crack along one line across the desktop. This was the case when I bought it. We repaired it and recovered the top using an ENTIRE cowhide. This is a superb large mahogany writing desk bureau made in England circa 1850. The condition is very good. The desk is far better than the pictures suggest. It has all the original brass handles the drawers are run fine and are solid oak with dovetail joints. It sits on bracket feet and has the original carrying handles to the back. The center door to the inside has the original key. Measurements are 44 wide. 44 high, 24 deep.

Antique Burl Wood Plantation Desk Circa 1850 Custom made in Indochina
This plantation desk was custom made in Indochina circa 1850 it was commissioned by my Great Grandfather and fabricated by local craftsmen He had on staff during the time. The time period was during the French Occupation of Indochina in 1850. It is made of Burl Wood and I have a current appraisal on this piece from a reputable appraiser. The appraisal is a month old. I've listed this for what I was told is a low fair market value for this unique item. This obviously has been in my family since fabrication. I dont have the room for it, although I love this desk its always complimented when people come to my house. I am asking what the fair market appraisal is for this item. Antique American Antebellum Period Writing Desk Circa 1850-1860
Beautiful antique American made writing desk made in 1850. Writing area slides out to reveal compartment below. The accents and carvings are all hand done and are in excellent shape. Very nice deskin excellent condition. Made from a variety of woods including maple and walnut. There are a few screws used in the construction and these. Along with the construction, date the desk to 1850 or before. A great piece of American history. It can be shipped if buyer arranges for shipping.
