The secretary is in fair condition, and unfortunately has some ... moreissues. The shelves are loose within the bookshelf / Vitrine section although the glass is intact on the front of the door. The secretary has a mirror, that is on the top at the right side and unbelievably gorgeous carved details and applied accents all throughout. It also has the original metal hardware, which is absolutely incredible and ornate as well. The front door of the secretary that would open down as a writing service has been broken off, and in half horizontally, however, the hinges are intact and it could easily be repaired. This door is 14" top to bottom, 20" wide. There is a lot of light staining and wear as well as scratches and dings to the finish.

It has burl walnut panels coming down both sides, heavy crown molded top and a crest with big ball finials on each end. It has a commode base with three drawers and a door. The only thing I don’t like about this cylinder desk is that the finish is light, similar to a cherry, but it is walnut wood. It has the original heavy bold brass hardware, and is in really nice shape. The pull-out writing surface has green felt on it. When you open the double panel cylinder roll, it reveals a simplistic double drawer interior that is simplistic.

A telephone number is necessary to give to the shipper. Description: This is a Country style side by side from the late 1800’s. This side by side has a drop front secretary on one side and a glass door bookcase on the other. There is a bevel mirror at the top of the secretary side. Just below it sits a lamp shelf. When an oil lamp was placed there the mirror would reflect to illuminate a larger area. The mirror appears to be the original; it has some dark spots and discolored areas. There are applied scroll moldings around the mirror and ... morethe moldings on the top of the bookcase side match. The lamp shelf has a ring stain on it as well as some marks and a little discoloration, typical of a piece this old. One of the moldings on the bookcase side is split. The finish is matte and smooth. The feet are carved paw and clay style. The shelves in the bookcase have been replaced with 5 glass shelves that are adjustable. Just below the drop front desk is a drawer and then a door with a lock. I do have the key. This door has a small piece of veneer missing just below the knob in the keyhole area. I do not know the maker or exact date this was made. It is antique and will not be perfect. Measurements are: 72 1/8 inches tall, 38 7/8 inches side to side and 12 7/8 inches front to back. 1800s Secretary Desk With Glass Door And Post Office With Key
Authentic 1800s secretary. This piece has had no restoration at all. It would be a great project or just the way it is! On one side there is a mirror. A small post office and 3 sturdy drawers. The other side is a beautiful rounded glass door with 5 shelves inside. It is numbered on the back. There are some cosmetic damages as nothing has ever been touched. The Mirror and the glass door are also original. Golden Oak Side by Side Secretary, Curio w Curved Glass Door, Mirror, EUC
This secretary has been with us for over 40 years. Sadly. It is time to downsize. It is a graceful and lovely piece of furniture. As far as I know(since this is not a family piece) the curved glass and mirror are original to the piece. We have a key but it is probably not original. However, it does lock and unlock all doors and drawer. There are 4 adjustable shelves in the curio cabinet. There is a crack in the left side panel about 12" long. It is not lose and does not separate. We suspect that is was glued prior to our ownership. Dimensions are 72" tall, 39" wide, 14" deep. Please ask any questions you may have.
