I could say. circa 1880's" but I wouldn't want to sell it short(it could be much older) It's made of solid wood, with flat head screws and square headed bolts. Top measures 42" wide by 31" deep. Dovetail. Tongue and groove, set cross beams under the entire length of the top. Estate sale find. Talked to the owner and it was used as a lectern at the University of Chicago until 1950. He saw a professor getting rid of it. And saved it from the dumpster. It is Stamped" Geol. 2815" in a few places. Underside marked in yellow crayon. C. 1860, ADJUSTABLE LETTER INLAID CENTER& SIDE COMPARTMENTS This is a handsome early Victorian English mahogany reading and writing table dating to approximately 1860. The rectangular top has rounded corners and an adjustable center section inlaid with a brown leather panel decorated with gilt tooling. Flanking the center section are two hinged panels which open outward to reveal compartments. One open and the other with dividers. The front of the piece has a frieze center drawer with its original brass lock. Flanking this center drawer are two keyholes and locks which secure the compartments above. The side opposite the drawer has a slide which pulls out to provide a second writing surface. The table stands on beautiful leaf carved trestle feet with concealed brass ... morecasters. The piece measures 36"w X 18"d x 30"h. Condition: Overall. The piece is in very good condition considering the piece's age and use. There is a posting slot for mail(this allowed people to post mail into the desk while the tambour was locked) There is an oak modesty board, with two pullout-writing slides above 4 drawers in each pedestal. The interior has 14 internal drawers and 13 internal compartments and with brass finger hooks and knobs. The desk features a locking mechanism when the roll-top is closed. One drawer and ring turned legs. The paint is all original and untouched. It suffered some kind of fading of the paint on the right side of the back gallery. Our guess is that this is from prolonged sun exposure from where it was placed for over a century. The dressing table has lovely brown folk art painted accents with pinwheels floral motifs in addition to the original knobs and ring turnings on its legs being accented by this brown paint. Offered today for your consideration! A very important American Victorian mechanical desk/ games table. A very rare find made by the Brushke Furniture Co. In Chicago. A one of a kind survivor this piece is both a parlor or games table the is convertible to a writing desk. The top swings up and the desk portion emerges for the center of the piece as if by magic! Tis is Victorian ingenuity! The piece is carved with faces in the renaissance revival style and is made from beautiful tiger oak. The center desk portion lifts and descends by a gear and cable mechanism. This is one of the most unusual pieces of American Victorian and we are thrilled to offer it! Note the ornately carved legs and figures at the center which hide the desk and mechanisms. It was made in Chicago circa 1860 to 1880. There is a very light stamp bearing the name Brushke ... moreon the inside of the lift up drawer lid that is visible when the desk is open. The piece is very solid and in over all good condition and would be as usable today as it was 150 years ago. There is an age crack at the top of the letter compartment that pops up. Antique French Rococo Style Dressing Table/Vanity with Beveled Mirror C1885
This high quality antique French Rococo dressing table is made of walnut which is in superb condition. The beveled mirror and frame are in excellent condition. There are a full width drawer to the front and two small drawers on either side of the mirror frame. There are a few small signs of its age on the table top that are shown in the photos. It is in strong and sturdy condition and the hand carving is not chipped or damaged. It measures 35" wide. 22" deep, 28 1/2" high from floor to table top, and 59 1/2" from the floor to the top of the crest. This desk has been in my family for several generations and now it is time to send it to a new home. It looks to be an old desk. But I have used it for an end table. Kind a primitive looking piece. I don't know much about it or it's age, but it is quite old. Local pick up only or you arrange shipping. French Rosewood lady's writing desk with a cylinder top. C. 1870- 1890. The piece stands 53" tall, 25.5" wide, and 16.5" deep. It has a pull-out leather top writing surface, and several drawers. It has many gilt bronze and ormolu additions, and the bottom stretcher is especially unique. It has a marble top, and beveled glass mirrors. It is a piece of the highest quality. The desk is in excellent condition. Showing only modest wear. The leather top was replaced professionally several years ago, and is in excellent condition.

English faded mahogany writing table. Circa 1880, nicely fitted with a lift top revealing interior drawers and a slide out felt top surface. Also with a second side drawer and bottom tier shelf. Please scan to the bottom to read shipping details and payment: From a local estate this week ~ this good looking 1800's walnut burl trim library table/desk with drawer and original key with the working lock. Measuring approx. 43" wide x 25" x 28.5" tall. Striking burl panels all around four sides, replaced leatherette vinyl blotter top. The detail in this piece is beautiful with the carved walnut lock cover! This desk looks like it's ready to use right out of the shipping box. Keep in mind this piece dates to the Civil War Era and will show signs of wear from years of pampered use that include faint scratches. Dings& dust! Condition: Sturdy ready to use. Good condition. The finish could be original? It looks satin like in nature and smooth to the touch. The drawer pulls in and out working very well. The original key is included and works the lock the way it was meant to. I will pick at the not so obvious flaws ~ The rollers are original with metal castor and wooden wheels. One of the metal caster attachments is missing a piece see photo#10, photo#8 is how it should look. This does not deter from its use just pointing it out. The turned decorative walnut knob on both sides of the stretcher base have some slight chipping. Keep in mind these chips are on the bottom of the knob so it's hidden when you look at the table see#11. The original manufacturer tag is still attached inside the drawer reading"F. Geldowsky of E. Cambridge Massachusetts" The last photo show the bottom of the drawer that has one piece wood! French Louis XVI Antique Satin Wood Marquetry Writing Secretary Desk Chest Table This is a magnificent Louis XVI style antique Secretary Desk leather top writing desk with satin wood burl wood insets and superb marquetry and parquetry bordering on satin wood grained fronts and sides with finely engraved brass mounts. Dolphin feet, and drawer pulls. It measures about 32 inches(81.28 cm) tall by 25.2 inches(64 cm) wide by 16 inches(40.64 cm) deep. It weighs over 41 pounds(18.6 Kg) by itself. Without any packing materials. It features two pull out drawers with wavy. Curved fronts, plus a slide out pull out leather topped writing desk platform that also can be taken completely out. The drawers are all dove tailed joined indicating earlier era construction and show aged wood inside. There is magnificent marquetry pinstripe bordering very finely ... moreinset wood pieces that are only found on the more exceptionally crafted pieces. Here's what I stated about this gorgeous cabinet's condition: One wood split crack and chip of inlaid veneer marquetry on front middle of bottom drawer. The drawers have some resistance when pulling out. But the can be pulled out completely and fairly easily, but just have some snug fit little tug drag to them, as does the slide out writing desk platform, but not at all a problem and just not real easy and loose pulling out. Some minor surfaces scratches, but other than these remarkably well preserved and beautiful condition dovetail joined antique writing desk cabinet. Truly an incredibly beautiful and stand out showcase piece that is hard to find one as remarkably crafted as this. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone!
