A lovely French faience plate with ruffled edge and hand painted scene of flowers and birds with insects and butterflies. Marked on the bottom with an incised mark and a cipher that contains the letters C E N and T. Not sure of the maker. Dates to the early 20th century. Antique St. Clement or Les Islettes French Rooster Faience Plate c.1800, ff277
Offered is a wonderful large antique majolica French faience plate from St. Clement or Les Islettes. France. Circa 1830-1850. In the 18th century, the pieces were not marked. The manufacture did not file any particulaire marks with the courts except one in 1885. From 1830 we see marks mostly painted by hand.St. Clement could be painted fully or abrieviated and sometimes with numbers. We happen to feel this beautiful plate was made by Les Islettes factory which was also in Lorraine. France. They were more into doing the"combed" rim. This beautiful French faience plate features a scalloped and"combed" rim as seen in photo 3. The center features"Les Coq Au Panier" with 2 French roosters staring at each other. Sitting a top of a red basket with blue and yellow flowers on green grass. The decor"Au Coq" or'with ... morerooster' was one of the traditional decorations of the Les Islettes and the St. Clement factories. In 1789 it became the emblem of the French Revolution. It represented the nation of France and was adopted as a symbol of vigilance. Towards the end of the 19th century. The rooster becomes more of a decoration with the floral motifs spilling out of a basket rather than a symbol or revolution. This beautiful plate is in excellent condition for its age with no chips. Cracks or repairs. It has stilt marks on the back from being fired in the kiln. It measures almost 10 inches in diameter. A stunning item for display or use! Antique French Faience Chinoiserie Plate
This is a very interesting antique French Faience Chinoiserie plate. The plate is 10.25 inches in diameter. It has some chips to the glaze on the edge. And one bigger chip to the bottom of the rim as seen in the third to last image. It has a hairline crack as seen in the second to last image on the back, and the same crack in the last image if you look very closely on the front. One tiny bit of glaze lose on the front on this crack. The image of the man on a horse, and all the ladies, plus the boy with the fan is beautiful. Free shipping worldwide. Offered here is an antique French faience plate with a hand painted portrait of Louis de Buade de Frontenac. Frontenac was the heroic governor of New France(Quebec. Canada) in the late 17th century. During his tenure he defeated the Iroquois and captured almost all of Newfoundland and the Hudson Bay Territory. A famous hotel in Quebec is named in his honor. This plate measures 8.5 inches and has the script mark of CA on the back. The marks indicates that this plate was manufactured by Alcide Chawneil in Paris between 1847 and 1919. Showing a steady hand with a Chinese inspired border executed in yellow, green, and deep cobalt with a manganese outline. FRANCE FAIENCE PLATE WITH A BLACK AND WHITE TRANSFER OF TWO LADIES SHARING A CONFIDENCE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE MARKED CLEARLY ON THE BACK: GIEN" 8 The faience plate is 8" in diameter with no chips on the edge. Which is very rare for faience plates of the 19 C. This plate dates from about 1955. The center medalion shows two ladies conversing sitting of the grass in a country setting. The right lady carries a hankerchief, which explains the phrase printed below: La demi confidence" which means" only half the truth" The lady on the right is consequently faking distress. I photographed very close to the lady on the right a light scratch which must have been done when using a knife. This is the only flaw. There is no loss of glaze on the plate. Beautiful 18th century Dutch Delft QUIMPER like pottery polychrome hand-spun plate with splendid decorations that were handpainted. It depicts highly sought after peasant and grass motif. It is paneled and has a scalloped edge. Very early and signed. This fine charger is in beautiful condition. This nice charger has a diameter of about 10 1/2“ An absolute must for collectors of antique Dutch Delft ware. You can see the glaze"pops" and the over all period look of an AUTHENTHIC period piece! This is thought to be Quimper pottery. Quimper has a long history. Tin-glazed. Hand-painted pottery has been made in Quimper, France, since the late seventeenth century. Pottery was made in Quipmer when the city was part of the Roman Empire, long before tin-glazed pottery was being made. The tin glaze w ill only adhere to a porous body. So delftware was made from a mixture of two clays. One was a local red clay, the other was an estuary clay containing a high proportion of chalk. They were referred to as fat and lean clays respectively. London obtained their lean clay from East Anglia or Kent, the other factories from Carrickfergus in Ireland. Earl

Beautiful Antique Desvres Platter or Plate with Handles You are bidding on a lovely Desvres platter in a traditional pattern with rich. Vibrant colors. Desvres ware might not be as well known outside of France as Quimper or Rouen but it's known for exuberant shapes and colors made for the domestic French market in Desvres, Calais. This piece most likely dates circa 1890. It has been in the same family since it was purchased in France. I especially like the clean design without the armorial shield so often used for Desvres souvenir items. The plate measures 11.5" from handle to handle and 9.25" at its widest point. The back rim is pierced to allow for hanging. I am very picky and precise with my condition descriptions. There are no cracks. Chips or crazing. It is in overall very fine condition. There is the expected tiny glaze ... morepittings that seems to be unavoidable when manufacturing faience. There is very slight roughness on edges due to the moulding process of the faience. I would replace the old, original wire hanger if you wish to hang the piece. There is one place I have shown in a close up photo where a tiny bit of clay debris remained in a crevice and is unglazed and rough to the touch. Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this lovely antique French faience tin glazed cabinet plate made by the Creil Montereau factories in the mid to late 1800's. This plate is in the"Oriental" style which was very popular from the mid to late 1800's. The background might look white to you on the photos but it has a blue tint to it. It features a tree. A flower and a fence in the oriental style. The scalloped rim has a great decorative border to frame the center scene. Just lovely! It is well marked on the back with the"CM" of Creil Montereau and oddly enough the pattern name is"HOLLANDAIS" It is also marked with"TERRE DE FER" and"J2" It measures 9- 9.25 inches from top to bottom and almost 8.75- 9 inches wide. 800x600 Childs Stick Spatter Stencil Miniature Toy Plate ANIMALS ~ ANIMAUX Creil-Montereau Faience. France c.1920 This is a stunning toy sponged stencil decorated plate. Originally part of a complete miniature children's dinner service. The measures a diminutive 4" in diameter, with a scalloped rim and deep center well. The center of the plate features a dog sitting eagerly in front of his food bowl. The image is stenciled in bright lime green. Surrounded by a bright cobalt blue stencil pattern consisting of alternating snake and elephant images around the rim. The pattern name is"Animaux" Animals) The piece was made by one of the faienceries in the North of France. Probably Creil-Montereau. The plate is marked only with an impressed mark that reads E1, probably an indicator of form and piece number. The plate is in great ... morecondition with 2 teensy fleabites on the edge at 2 o’clock and no chips. Cracks or repairs. Light overall crazing consistent with age. Kiln kiss original to the making. This little plate was impeccably potted and the stencil was applied with a good deal of attention to detail. beautiful and rare antique french faience veuve perrin Marseille cabinet plate. May be 18th century or 19th century, beautiful soft paste plate with hand painted scenes of peasants drinking and listening to a fiddler. just lovely, plate has beautiful border design of roses and wild flowers. the plate has early vp mark and impressed star mark on back, plate measures 9 2/8 inches across, again plate may be 18th century or 19th century not sure, this is a fine piece or french faience, hope it goes to a good home or collection, item sold as is, thanks and good luck!

19 c FRENCH FAIENCE 10" Plate, marked VP, after D. Teniers #2
Description: Up for auction is a hand painted figural French Faience plate with a man. A scribe of some sort, outside of a building. This splendid plate was made in France during the mid 1800's and is pottery with a faience glaze. It has a scalloped edge. And there is an inscription, d'Apres Teniers" Which translates to"After Teniers" This most likely refers to the Flemish master artist, David Teniers, The Younger or other member of this well known artistic Flemish family. Possibly a rendition of a painting. It has a loss of glaze in a few places. and there is crazing over the piece. This would be typical of a piece this age. The colors are very vibrant, and the design is very nice. The plate has bright shades of yellow, blue and green, The gentleman's outfit is an olive green and mustard. It had a plate hanger ... moreon the back, which I removed so you could see the mark. This is not one of the very early pieces of VP, they would be more refined.
