The Limoges plates are marked either"McD or MeD" But we could not identify the mark and the plates probably date from the Late 1800's. The dinner plate is Old English and dates from c. 1820-1840. All of the plates have a beautiful hand painted floral design(See Pictures) Note that(6) of the salad plates have purple flowers& 6) have red flowers. There is some minor decoration loss throughout the lot and the dinner plate has a crack(See Pictures) All pieces are in overall good usable condition. A rare complete set of twelve antique English porcelain plates from the Staffordshire atelier. T.J. J. Mayer- Dale Hall Longport. The Parian ware plates are similar to Jasperware in technique and measure 8.4 inches in diameter. The floral and leaf decor is in relief with a lovely pastel green glaze surrounding it. The plates are in general very good condition; 5 plates have a tiny crazing line near relief pattern(consult very close up photos) and one plate has chips at base(consult last photo) There are no knife marks or scratches. Pair Antique English circa 1865 Davenport blue white dragon china 2 plates
I bought these two plate/bowls at an antique store in England. In a village about 50 miles west of London in 1985. These plates or shallow bowls with handles are manufactured by Davenport English China Company approximately around the year 1865. The backs are marked and I looked up the mark and that is how I arrived at the manufacture and age. Each bowl is 9 x 10. These plates are very whimsical. They have 4 flying dragons chasing each other with what looks like a dragon fly in the middle of the plate. Maybe it is a butterfly. Each bowl has two handles and there is some gold detailing around the handle and edges. These plates are in remarkable condition for as old as they are. No chips or cracks. I had ordered a custom made frame to display these plates and this frame with the dark blue velvet background is included in the sale. Here is a set of antique COPELAND English plates decorated with the transferware method. The center of the plate represents a ruin of an old Castle or Abbey believed to be MELROSE. The rim of the plates is decorated with oak leaves and acorns. The name COPELAND around a crown is embossed on the underside of the plates. Being old. Their border has suffered from slight to larger chips(see photos) The good thing is that the brown and white border somewhat hides these chips. They are interesting as an historical testimony to a manufacturing process once widely in use: transferware and also because of their brown color which was very much in use. I have priced them low for the sake of those who like old plates and are not too disturbed at their imperfections. They measure 10 1/4 inches in diameter.

Breakfast and dessert services, trinket and dejeuner sets, plaques and wares, designed in most cases by H.J. Kane. From 1887 mention of porcelain was not included in Victorian advertisements, which concentrated on the earthenware's.
