Four Antique S H & Sons England Transferware Floral Aesthetic Ironstone Plates
For your consideration today is a set of 4 antique plates produced by S.H. Sons England in the late 1800's. These porcelain plates are in very good condition with wear appropriate to age and usage. All plates have very fine all over crazing in the shiny glaze and some have very minor knife marks- nothing that detracts from these lovely items. Set on a soft white background. The transfer pattern is that of a delicate floral vine with blooms in pastel blue, pink and yellow and the vines in brown and green. This design is very intricate and pretty. There is also a fine edging of goldtone all around the gently scalloped rim of these plates. The goldtone shows minor wear- again this is appropriate to age and light use. All plates are marked with a brown stamp on reverse- the rook-shaped round tower sits under the word'OSBORNE" and ... moreabove'S.H. Sons' and the mark includes'England" and the registration number 194861. All plates are 8 inches in diameter- dessert or cake plate size. This wonderful early Victorian aesthetic"Indus" pattern in black transfer features a center design of water fowl and foliage. The border pictures flying birds, foliage and flowers. There is Friar Tuck Exchanging bullets with"The Black Knight" Rebecca Repelling the Templar, From de Beuof Exporting Silver, and Friar Tuck again. 2 Antique Early 1800’s Porcelain Pink Luster Lustre Transferware Plates Offered here are 2 antique pink luster plates from the early 1800’s. One plate measures 8.25” in diameter and is 1” deep. The second plate of the same pattern measures about 7 7/8" across. The picture is a country scene of a stone building. Possibly a chapel or chalet. The rims have a pink lustre band which shows some wear to the paint. The picture is in black and gray and very detailed. I see no cracks. Chips or crazing on these plates, just a few light utensil marks. The footed base of the 8 1/4" plate has a few small chips and roughness. Please check all pictures for condition. Antique Transferware Plates (4) Mulberry Panama Transferware Chargers 8.5"
Auction is for four(4) original Transferware plates made by E. Challinor& Co. from 1853-1862. In the Panama pattern. I believe the color is called mulberry. Center is a river or canal scene with 3 figures. All in all, plates are in good condition for 160 years old. Three plates are 8.5" across, and the one that is more discolored is thicker and 1/8" smaller. Two has some bubbles from when they were made. One has an eraser size chip on back side.

2 Adamantine WPC Antique (1888-1893) Plates with Blue Iris Transferware & Gilt
These two plates were made by the Wheeling Pottery Company(Wheeling. West Virginia) between 1888 and 1893. This series, called"Adamantine China" is considered very collectible. The deep blue-violet iris pattern has two dark blue, almost purple flowers, buds and stems. Sponge applied gold decorations and gilt pin-striping. Blue Transferware design. The glaze has an antique patina of crackling. The only flaw I could find was a chip on the underside of one of the plates. I have photographed this chip in the above photographs. The chip is not visible from the front of the plate. These plates are 8 1/4" in diameter. Together they weigh 1 pound and 12 ounces.

The markings are of Hautin-Boulenger& Co. from Choisy. France, dating to around 1885. Each plate is different, with a plate with 1 bird, another with 2 birds, and 3 plates with 3 birds. The transfer patterns are just gorgeous with tulips, roses, lilies, branches and leaves. The details are wonderful like botanicals. Each plate measures 9.5" across. EDGE, MALKIN & CO 1871-1891 TWO ANTIQUE RED TRANSFERWARE PLATES E.M. & Co.
THIS AUCTION IS FOR TWO ANTIQUE PLATES. The red transferware plates are both old. The larger plate measure 8 1/2" in diameter. It is made in England by the well-known potters of Edge. Malkin& Co. The name of the pattern is ITALY. This handsome transferware plate, from E.M. Co. is one of their earlier plates dating from 1871- 1891. The very attractive Maker's Mark, also, includes B for Burslem and is identified as their Standard Mark. The scene is a quaint pictorial of an Italian town and surrounding area. This special plate is approximately 140 years old. There is another Maker's Mark that is impressed into the plate that repeats the company name. There are no chips or cracks. The tone of the transferware is dark red. The back has some crazing and is darkened around the edges. The smaller plate measures 6 1/2" in diameter. ... moreI do not know the age. SET OF 5 COPELAND DINNER PLATES ANTIQUE OLD ENGLISH TRANSFERWARE BROWN & WHITE
Here is a set of antique COPELAND English plates decorated with the transferware method. The center of the plate represents a ruin of an old Castle or Abbey believed to be MELROSE. The rim of the plates is decorated with oak leaves and acorns. The name COPELAND around a crown is embossed on the underside of the plates. Being old. Their border has suffered from slight to larger chips(see photos) The good thing is that the brown and white border somewhat hides these chips. They are interesting as an historical testimony to a manufacturing process once widely in use: transferware and also because of their brown color which was very much in use. I have priced them low for the sake of those who like old plates and are not too disturbed at their imperfections. They measure 10 1/4 inches in diameter.
