Antique Elegant Porcelain Oyster Plate
Antique Elegant Oyster Plate This porcelain oyster plate looks very. Very old but because it doesn't have any marks on the back of the plate I can't say how old it might be. The white background has a ripple effect with faded gold etching. It has five pale turquoise wells and a center small well etched in gold. It has a slightly scalloped edge. Eight inch circumference. There is a very tiny chip on the inner edge which can't be seen because of the white ripple glaze- only felt if you put your finger around the edge looking for chips.

Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this lovely antique porcelain oyster plate. It is marked"Gilman Collamore& Co. Union Square New York" Gilman Collamore went to work with his brother Davis Collamore who was a high end importer in New York city and opened his first store in 1842. He commissioned designs from Haviland Limoges in France with his firm's stamped. Under glaze mark. In 1861, Gilman opened his own business in Union Square. This plate was made before 1891 since the country of manufacture had to be on the items. It is also marked with the numbers"4467/57" and the number 6 is impressed in the clay. This antique oyster plate features a luster finish with 2 kinds of sea shells. It has 6 oyster shell wells and a hand painted oyster"foot scar" in each. Antique 19th Century Limoges Hand Painted Porcelain Shell Oyster Plate
My antique dealer tells me this is a rare early Limoges porcelain oyster plate. He loves the opalescent painting and raised shapes that make the shells look real. It measures 7 7/8" in diameter and sits 1/2" above the table at the edge and 3/4" to the top of the shells. The pattern has oyster shells trimmed in gold with sea shells and seaweed as a background. The bottom has"something) G.L. impressed and a painted red triangle Limoges mark.The plate weighs 1 pound 2.2 ounces. This plate is in excellent condition for it's age and use. There is very minor wear on the gold paint around the shells(pictured) There is a small chip on the bottom of the plate(pictured) I can find no other flaws of any kind. ANTIQUE PORCELAIN SIX-WELL OYSTER PLATE HANDPAINTED
For your consideration today is an antique 6-well oyster plate done in heavy porcelain and showing no manufacturers' mark. I believe this is a good old piece.the colors are strong with exception of several areas of wear on the dark red-ish brown paint that separates the wells. Each well is a delicate yellow fading to pink on the far edge. One well has two marks that appear to be in the mold. Not cracks.they are noticable but do not detract from the overall appearance of the plate. Center sauce bowl is eggshell blue and shows some darker spots the size of pin heads in the paint-I can feel these under the glaze so I think they are also mold marks. Bottom of the plate is clean and undamaged- shows signs of wear normal for age. This plate measures approx 9 inches in diameter. ANTIQUE EXCELSIOR PORCELAIN OYSTER PLATE C1895 GERMAN
This is a beautiful antique porcelain oyster plate made by Excelsior. The plate is marked on the bottom with the Excelsior mark that was used from 1889-1896. The plate is white with delicate pale flowers in each of the six wells and the center. The raised scroll pattern and inner edges of the wells and center are gilded. The plate measures 8.5 inches. There are a few tiny pits that appear to be original with the manufacturing process. There is a slight amount of wear on the flowers and on the gilding consistent with age and normal use. Overall this plate is in excellent condition for its age. There are no chips cracks or repairs noted. Please see the photos. The plate stand is not included.

It features 5 wells for oysters around the outside of the dish with a small round lemon butter bowl at the center. It has heavy applied gold highlights along the edge of the high glaze white porcelain. It is marked on the bottom in green“C.P. CO” It also has an oval rust colored mark that reads“ CH. Antique Gilded and Iridescent Multi-Colored Porcelain Oyster Plate. Made for 6 oysters and a central dip. It has iridescent pink, light blue, peachy-yellow, brown and white glaze with a textured-looking gilding. The plate has a 9in diameter- each oyster-pocket measures about 3in x 3 1/4in. Such a lovely design! It is in very good condition; one small chip on the underside of the rim(see pictures) but still lovely! Comes with a metal wall-hanger.

This plate was part of a set of 8 owned by his great-grandmother, Anna Mueller. When she died, the set was split between her two daughters who had lived with her in Boston. Anna moved to Denver in the twenties with her daughter Bertha(Greg's grandmother) who had one child, Greg's father) Louis. When Bertha died in 1967, her 4 plates went to him. Finally, when Greg's father died in 1979, the plates were split between Greg, his sister and two brothers. Greg is the only one of the 4 great grandchildren still to have his plate. But we are liquidating in our older years, and chose to pass it along to someone who will love it as much as his family has over these ... moremany years. U.P.W. Oyster Plates are not only fun but highly collectible. A merican porcelain. After all is much less common that its European counterparts which makes each American piece all the more valuable. If you are looking at this plate, you might already know the history of oyster plates in America, but if you don't, I offer my limited knowledge. The Union Porcelain Works company was based in Greenpoint. New York. They were one of the early manufacturers of fine quality porcelain in the United States Through my research, I have learned that this is one of the rarer of the oyster plates made by the Union Porcelain Works circa 1881. This larger size with 6 oyster shaped wells and 2 scallop shells for sauce are generally harder to find, and as I understand are more valuable than the smaller 4 oyster shell plates made by UPW. Each UPW oyster plate was hand painted and is very unique in its own right. This plate is in very good condition and shows no obvious wear to the paint, or the gilding which enhances both scallop shells and the outer bottom of the clam shell. Excellent condition. No chips cracks crazing or scratches, from what we have read, could have been made in the 1920's-1930's, but we are not certain. Measures 10 1/2" diameter. The Hall china company started production in 1903 in Ohio. This is a nice substantial piece of porcelain weighs 2 pounds and 9 ounces. It has a slightly scalloped rim and a swirling pattern effect. Hand painted in brown with gold paint around its rim. The plate has five wells. The only marking is the number 2, which appears on the underside of the plate. This type of numerical marking, from my experience, appears to be typical of either Austrian or German manufacture, but I can't be absolutely sure. The plate measures 9 in diameter and weighs 1 lb and 1 oz. The shell-formed plate has raised sealife amongst the wells. The pink scallop sauce well and plate are gold gilt accented. The reverse has a stamp for Richard Briggs. He was a china decorator and pottery dealer with retail space at 137 Washington St. in Boston. Briggs died in 1893. Condition: No chips. Cracks, breaks or repairs. No crazing. The central well has a gold ring that is perfect.no wear! The perimeter of the plate is painted black with pink and yellow accents in each well. One of the wells has a black dot which is from the original paint and does not detract from its value or beauty. It truly is stunning! A great addition to any outstanding oyster plate collection.
