And has a unique pooling(like a celadon glaze) in the crevices, where the red is more intense. The plate is further adorned with moriage and turquoise jewels. I have never seen a similar piece either in my catalogues or in person. It measures 10.75" in diameter, and is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, or losses to the jewels or delicate moriage. There are a few factory flaws, including two areas where the turquoise bead was somewhat irregular, and shows some white porcelain to the perimeter of the bead, and a minor irregularity to the applied porcelain in the center. There is a tight hairline flaw to the glaze on the back. It is glaze level, and does not extend into the porcelain

Here is another delightful set of 6 luncheon plates from the Victorian era. These look to be French. And were imported by the well known upscale NYC retailer Ovington Brothers, who imported top quality wares for their clientelle. These plates are highly decorated on a mottled maroon ground. The 6 triangular floral insets on pure white porcelain have a Dresden look, with bright yellow and gold accents. There is a combination of transfer outlines in fuschia, which were filled in with hand painted colors. Gold accents further outline and embellish in the painted& non-painted areas and around the rim. For your consideration is a set of old French majolica oyster plates. They measure approximately 9 1/2 inches in diameter. The color is mostly deep green with touches of blue. White and brown. The back reads Longchamp, Terre De Fer, 1006. Both pieces have crazing due to age. They also have a few chips on the bottom and front. These could be filled in with paint if you wish to display them. Presented for auction are two French Napoleon III Porcelain Plates circa 1890. One plate has two men talking to each other. The other plate has a man and women conversing. The outer part of the plate appearance of green ad the picture is black on white background. The diameter of the plate is approximately 7 3/4" The plate with the two men has a chip out of the rim. The other plate has no chips out of it. Both plates show normal wear and some discoloration for 19th century plates.

Not under the glaze as was done later on Some scratches to the paint I find no chips or cracks There are imperfections to a varying degree on each plate. The only“imperfections” that occurred after the creation of the plates are the scratches to some of the paint. And some left over glue from tape that was used to keep the plates together. They have a white ground. And different designs on each. They have all have red accents- 3 have also have blue accents. Two are very hard to see the images because almost all the paint has worn off. There is the Gallic Rooster plate with the inscription"Je suis bougrement Patriote- 1789" a wheat plate, a Baker's Hat, a Fashion Hat(woman's) and cheese wheel with a cow. They are marked on the back. They each can be hung, if desired. Size: 7 3/4" diameter- approx. dimensions Quantity: 5- Plates Condition: GOOD- there is a lot of wear to the paint. As well as utensil marking. The rooster and women's hat have the most wear- almost all the paint ... moreis worn off but the pattern is still etched on. The fine molded shape of the porcelain blank is very elaborate with scrolled edges and gold gilt highlighting each detail and curve. Antique Luneville French Majolica Art Nouveau Asparagus Plates, set/2
For your consideration. A set of 2 French Majolica Asparagus plates, made by Luneville, c. 1920′s. In the Art Nouveau style with a border of olive green& light blue Artichoke leaves, five asparagus spears lie across the center of the plates, a shell shaped sauce well in pale pink, on a cream colored ground. Heavy bodied pottery. Marked Depose KG Luneville for Keller Guerin Luneville. France. One plate shows the sauce well glazed in a deeper pink& there is a painted nip to a high point, as shown. Both plates have minor crazing. 9″ across. Shown on p.22 of Botero’s book. Artichauts et Asperges en Barbotine. A very scarce pattern showing 2 gray& white Swallows soaring against a sky blue background with whispy white clouds. The birds are quite dimensional, with raised molding. The plates have a scalloped edging slightly glazed in white to suggest clouds. A charming set, rarely seen. 8″ across. Most are marked on the rear with the impressed“Sarreguemines” A few are unmarked. Minor loss to a few of the high points of the birds. Visible stilt marks seen on the back. A kiln effect. Blue bands and embossed borders. From the early 1800s until well into the 1900's. Virtually every French home had at least one set of this sort of dessert plate. These plates provided'entertainment' to the table after a traditionally long and copious meal. The 9 plates in this group are from the early 19th century. dating from around 1825-35 when the mark found on the back was used by their maker.Choisy le Roi. Originally these plates would have been part of a set of 24 plates but it is now extremely rare to find ... morecomplete sets.and their price sky-rockets. One sees decorating this type of plate. An almost endless variety of themes including the exploits of Napoleon and Joan of Arc, views of Paris, London or Lourdes, military and Bibical scenes, country scenes, French folk proverbs, trips to exotic places, la chasse' or hunting scenes, Aesops fables, a country marriage, and so on. Quite often the theme will be humourous in some way. The plates are 8 inches in diameter and have black transferred designs. They are made of faience. They each have a different scene and on the edge of the plate are the names of three cities. The back of the plates have a mark that reads porcelain opaque creil et montereau and medailles d’or 1834 et 1839 and lebeuf milliet& cie. There are no chips. Cracks or repairs. Sarreguemines is the name of a French town that is used as part of a china mark. Utzschneider and Company. A porcelain factory, made ceramics in Sarreguemines, Lorraine, France, from about 1775. The nineteenth-century pieces, most often found today, usually have colorful transfer-printed decorations showing peasants and children in local costumes.
