4 Podmore Walker & Co Washington VaseTransfer Plates 1834-1859
4 Podmore Walker and Co. salad or luncheon plates. These were produced in Tunstall Staffordshire between 1834-1859. This was the precursor to Wedgwood& Co. Pearl stone ware was more durable than earthenware. It was fired at a higher temperature. The Washington Vase pattern has garden urns in the foreground and historic buildings in the background. The border has 5 cartouches with urns and buildings. The oval and ribbon mark on the back says Pearl Stone Ware Washington Vase PW& Co. These plates have no chips or cracks. Pretty amazing for 170 year old plates. There is crazing. They are 8" across. One plate has a white background and the other 3 are darker as seen in last photo. Please ask any questions. Podmore. Walker& Co. Eagle" Made in Tunstall. Staffordshire, England c. 1834- 1859 Blue and White earthenware/ironstone Dinner Plate. Depicts a pair of Eagles perched in a tree. Rare in such good condition. This lovely pattern was made by Podmore Walker until 1860, when it was then made by Wedgwood. Into which Podmore had merged. The border is Floral& Botanical. With scrolls. In very good condition. With no damages, no chips or flakes, and no cracks. There is of course very tiny mild and pretty crazing on the plate commensurate with age. Available for purchase. We have a beautiful antique dinner plate made by Podmore Walker& Co. c.1834-1859. It measures 9-3/4" in diameter. The plate is in good condition for age. There are no chips or cracks. The glaze does have crazing but there are no flakes or chips of missing glaze. There is some discoloration at some of the crazing and some dimples that were part of the firing process and after many years they discolor. Lovely Antique Ironstone Black Mulberry Soup Plate Podmore Walker Corean Pattern
This auction is for a Lovely Antique Ironstone Black Mulberry Soup Plate made by Podmore Walker of England in the mid 1800s. It is in the company's Beautiful pattern known as Corean. Which depicts an Asian River Scene with a Large Pagoda, Boat, Trees and an Urn and a Victorian Scroll and Floral boarder. This piece Displays Wonderfully and is a Great Example of mid 19th Century Mulberry Ironstone. Some might consider this a bowl while others view it as a deep plate. I prefer Soup Plate. It is very thick and heavy. It measures nearly 10 inches across and is about 1 5/8 inches tall. It has crazing and a chip on the underside table ring(see last photo) and a tiny hole of missing glaze that is hard to see on the rim(see photo 11) and brownish discoloration rings and lines on the bottom. 3 MULBERRY Washington Vase Stone Ware Small Plates, Podmore Walker, 6 7/8"
This is a set of three small plates with mulberry scenes by Podmore Walker& Co. The style is Washington Vase Pearl Stone Ware. They each measure approximately 6 7/8" across. Two of the plates(the first two in the first pic) are in very good condition but have two very small dented places on the outer area and small brown dented areas on the back. The third plate has a brown scratch around much of the front and many brown scratches and brown dented marks on the back. See the pics. Antique Washington Vase Mulberry Plate By Podmore Walker 1849-1859
This wonderful antique Mulberry plate is the"Washington Vase" pattern. Composed of a central scene of several large garden urns, foliage and buildings in the background. The border features a repeated urn and buildings image, separated by scrolls, floral and textured design. The plate has a diameter of 7 ¾ inches and from what I have read. It was made between 1849-1859 in England. The front of the plate does have some scratches, however you would have to hold the plate in the light at an angle to see them. I don’t find any of the scratches to be a detraction to overall look of the plate. There are 3 manufactures dimples in the boarder and 7 small manufactures dimples in the center of the plate-none of which I find to be a detraction. On the plate’s edge you will find a few places where the top glaze has lightly been worn away. ... moreThere are no chips, nicks or cracks on the front of the plate or on the edges. The back of the plate is marked with an oval and ribbon stamp mark which reads"Pearl Stone Ware- Washington Vase- P.W. Co. The is also a stamp which is pressed into the plate which appears to read as. Pearl Stone Wear P.W. Co” along with a third mark which consists of the number“2” in blue. The back of the plate also has manufactures dimples-there is a series of 3 groups consisting of 3 dimples each(total of 9 dimples) They are spaced in a way that leads me to believe they were made during the creation process of the plate. There is one small chip on the rim of the back of the plate(as pictured) Otherwise. There are no cracks or nicks. Over all. I love the color of this plate. The white isn’t a brilliant white, it is more of a grey/purple color complete with crazing which shows off it’s age beautifully. The black has a beautiful blur/soft edge to it, which gives you the same feel as flow blue. This is a beautiful antique plate. Three very nice pieces of mulberry/black Podmore Walker Staffordshire transferware in the Washington Vase pattern. Mid 19th century: circa 1849- 1859. One handleless cup measures 3" tall and 3 1/4" in diameter. In very good condition with a tiny bit of wear to the rim. One s aucer measures 1 1/8" tall and 6"in diameter. In very good condition with a tiny bit of wear to the rim; minor surface scratches. One plate measures 1 1/8" tall and 8 1/8" in diameter. In very good condition. No chips or cracks; some surface scratches. All have kiln marks. The plate and sauce are marked in ink. The plate is impressed with the Pearl Stone Ware mark.

Description You are bidding on this Podmore Walker(Tunstall. England) mulberry plate in the Washington Vase pattern, made between the years of 1834-1859. Unmarked. One repair in the upper left. Chip on the seat(where the plate sits on the table) NICE gloss finish. Dimensions: 9 3/4" The Washington Vase pattern by Podmore. Walker& Co. proved to be one of the most popular scenic designs. The main feature of the design is the large covered vase under palms which appears prominently in the foreground on the near bank of a river. Close by is a smaller urn. This auction is for a Lovely and Rare Antique Ironstone Pearl Stoneware Flow Mulberry Plate made by Podmore Walker of England c1834. It is in the company's Striking Eagle Pattern. Which depicts two large eagles perched in a tree with a lake and mountains in the background and a floral and Victorian Scroll design border. The plate measures 9 3/4 inches across is in Very Good condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks. There are not even any scratches or utensil marks, which is highly rare. It has fine, even crazing throughout, which adds to the character and authenticity of the piece. There is a small area of darker crazing on the back(see photo 10) and three small stilt dots on the face border design(last photo) which were part of the firing process. Antique Staffordshire Wild Rose Plate by Podmore Walker & Co. - 10" Diameter
Lovely"Wild Rose" pattern Staffordshire plate in blue and white from the mid 1800s. The transfers are a soft shade of blue on a creamy white background. The edge has a subtle scallop. Like many old ceramic pieces. There is light crazing throughout. Also, at the 9 o'clock position, there is an old chip, about 5/16" in length(see picture#4) I have priced the plate accordingly.
