Antique Pearlware plate, brown & white transferware, Chinese scene, pre 1890
Antique pearlware plate with brown and white transfer of a Chinese scene. This 7 1/2" diameter plate is in perfect condition with no chips. Cracks, crazing or discoloration. If you look closely at the design around the rim you will notice that it is not symmetrical. The number of flowers between the leaves and the length of vine varies with each placement of the transfer. The facial expressions of the people in the scene are quite interesting. There is no mark on this plate but it is possibly Creil of France. The lack of identification dates this piece to before 1890 and it is likely early 1800's. Black White Transferware Plate Dish Historic Firefighter Scenes
Beautiful black and white transferware plate. 7 different historical firefighting scenes surround a larger one in the middle. Various firefighter hats and posts complete the design. Made by Kettlesprings Kilns. Alliance, Ohio. The company was begun in 1950 and is still in existence making commemorative plates. I believe this was meant to be a wall plate, but if you hold it up to the light and look very closely it does look like there are a few slight utensil scratches. This plate is in the"Cologne" pattern and dates between 1832 and 1835, when Ralph Stevenson& Sons were manufacturing. This plate has a number of superb transfers, from its beautiful centerpiece to the various borders framing that, all done in rich brown. Antique 1840s.Two 10 Inch Dinner Plates Blue And White Staffordshire Antique Vases Joseph Clementson Here is a very lovely dinner plate from the 1840's. This is part of a series of several listings for the same pattern under 2 hallmarks. These were made in Staffordshire. England by Joseph Clementson and others I have the merchant's hallmark on them. Here is some information about Joseph Clementson and the pattern that is from the Transferware Collector's Club: Makers and Marks: Joseph Clementson J. C. 1838- 1864 Shelton. Hanley Staffordshire The reverse side bears an armorial printed mark with the title Antique Vases(along with the intitials J.C. and the words'Opaque China' which probably refers to the clay body- as well as an impressed mark. This Clementson pattern includes many different center medallions(with varying ... morevases) on different size pieces. Here the center medallion features a large Greek vase on the left and two smaller ones on the right. Williams WeberI1978 p.59 illustrate another view in this pattern on a sauce boat. And state that it is marked with a coat of arms. In WilliamsWeberII1986 p.510, they indicate that the mark included the initials J.C. as seen here. Coysh Henrywood1982 p.24 document this pattern and maker. In their 1989 volume. P.15, the authors explain the probable inspiration for this pattern- the Greek vases sold to the British Museum by diplomat and archaeologist Sir William Hamilton, which greatly influenced British art and architecture at the time. The piece I have says Antique Vases Opaque Pearl. I also have James Ely O Wego. Which is Owego NY. I sold some pieces with Rowe& Williams Poughkeepsie,NY. Both merchants were in business in the 1840's.The merchants would order the dishes from England and the factories would put the merchants name on them. Measures: 10& 3/4" They come in lovely 1840's condition. Some with tiny factory flaws and some with crazing. Over all very good condition for 170 years old.

This is a lovely 9 ¾” Plate with a generous 1 5/8” Lip and stands 1 ¼”high. The shallow indentation at the center was the style of the period& known as a Soup Plate allowing for natural meat juices and/or stewed(now crock pot) meals to be savored. Almost 200 yrs old a rare find by Podmore Walker& Co. of Tunstall in Staffordshire, England. The back stamp and impressed makers mark dates this plate to 1834– 1843. This plate's impressed back stamp reads“PEARL STONE WARE PW& Co. with the pattern“IVANHOE” stamped in Blue PW& Co. collaborated with Enoch Wedgwood about 1853 and the Wedgwood name added in 1856. In 1860 Enoch became the senior partner changing the company name to Wedgwood& Co. PW& CO became what is now known as Wedgwood. This antique Plate has 12 sides. Early English 18c. Porcelain Blue & White Oriental Transferware Plate Attr. Bow
This listing is for an Antique Blue Transferware and painted Plate tentatively attributed to Bow factory of England during the 18c. I am sure it is a very old piece of transferware. But as to whom the maker is we are not fully sure. The plate measures about 8-1/8" in diameter and does have two chips one to the back side of the rim and one to the foot. The plate has a blue oriental transferware pattern on the front and a hand painted cobalt back side. The plate has suffered warring to the body, usually as a result of faulty mix or imperfections in the clay body. My suspicion is this piece is an experimental piece from 1825-75 or there about. This beautiful 7-1/2" luncheon plate made by W. T. Copeland& Sons dating from 1870s is in a pattern called Old/ English Abbey Ruins. Color is rich and strong and the oak leaf and acorn border is sharp. Hard to believe this plate survived in such lovely age-appropriate condition. Very slight glaze pop on back upper right side. Absolutely no chips. Cracks, or repairs. There is a slight rough spot along right edge which I believe is the glaze. Very, very light cutlery marks only visible under light and at an angle. Clearly stamped under glaze with"W.T. Copeland& Sons, Stoke Upon Trent" and incised with crown and"A8" dating it to April 1878, together with what looks like the number 18. Sweet little blue& white transferware cup plate or small plate from a child's tea set. It measures 3 1/2 inches in diameter and is in very good condition. There are no cracks or chips. No hairlines or fleabites. There is no staining or discoloration of any sort. I do not even see any crazing. When tilted just right there is a scratch on the surface by the archway. I believe that it was done in the making and seems to be glazed over. But I can't tell for sure. Of course we accept returns if this gem is not as described. We still believe that.
