This is a beautiful Black transferware dinner plate measuring 10 1/4 inches from rim to rim. It has a scalloped edge with a lovely border of flowers and flower baskets. In the center is a finely detailed Swiss village setting. The pattern is clearly marked"Swiss" on the back. The maker is"R. Stevenson" who manufactured earthenware at Cobridge Cottage in Staffordshire. The"R. Stevenson" mark was used from 1810 to 1832. The plate is in wonderful antique condition. The are no flakes. Cracks or chips. There are utensil marks on the front and crazing on the back. There is a small manufacturing flaw on the back of the plate and a small blue maker's or date mark from the original firing. There is a small manufacturing flaw on the back rim just above the word"Swiss" These can all be seen in the photos. ... moreI used flash for some of the photos, no flash for others. Beautiful black and white transferware plate. 7 different historical firefighting scenes surround a larger one in the middle. Various firefighter hats and posts complete the design. Made by Kettlesprings Kilns. Alliance, Ohio. The company was begun in 1950 and is still in existence making commemorative plates. I believe this was meant to be a wall plate, but if you hold it up to the light and look very closely it does look like there are a few slight utensil scratches. TRADING TREASURES 19th Century Blue& Black Transferware Plate~#1 This interesting. Decorative soup plate presents a French scene on a train. Entitled"Deuxieme Classe" or"Two Classes" We see the difference between the Classes of people. They are on a voyage together. But with differences. This plate is from the Series entitled"Les Voyages En Chemin De Fer"The Voyage. The soup plate is 9 1/8" in diameter and stands about 1 1/2" off the table. A bright blue band decorates the rim. With a flow blue band of intertwined flowers below this. The central transferware scene is black. The plate is in very good condition considering it was made in the mid-1800's. Mulberry Transferware Flow Black E Challinor 10" Plate Dresden Pattern
Up for auction is a beautiful 10" Mulberry or Black Transferware Plate in the Dresdon pattern. By E. Challinor and CS. It is very old and the transfer does show some flow. There is crazing and staining which adds beauty to the piece. This black transferware plate came from an auction in Vermont. The back is marked Verona. The pattern, and W&C, Wood& Challinor. The plate measures 10 5/8" in diameter. Antique Black & White Transferware Soft Paste 6 1/4" Plate Porcelain Decorative
Up for auction is an antique soft paste porcelain transfer decorated small plate recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition, free of any cracks or chips. The only condition issue to discuss is that it is quite dirty and could benefit from a good soaking, as it is quite stained. It features a transfer design with a landscape, water and a buildings in the design. This plate is unsigned and unmarked. Primary colors are black on a white background. Lovely Rare Staffordshire Black Transferware Plate Unique Scalloped Rosette Edge
This auction is for a Lovely and Rare Staffordshire Black Floral Transferware Plate with an Unusual Scalloped Edge. The plate is decorated with an urn and floral groupings at the center and flowers around the border. There are no marks or backstamps. But by the form and the feel and the pattern, it is clearly dates from the early to mid 1800s and was likely made by any of the number of potteries that operated at that time in the Staffordshire Region of England. What makes this plate stand out. Beyond it's beautiful detailing, is its unique scalloped edging. Each arch is separated with a small Floral Rosette. The plate Displays Wonderfully with a Great Contrast of Black and White. It measures about 10 1/4 inches across. The plate is in Very Good condition. Especially for its age. It is free of crazing.
