Lovely Portrait Dish/ Lady Plate from Bavaria. Germany. Pretty 8-inch gold and white heart-shapped accents with gold crowns outline the mossy green rim. with scalloped edging surround a young lady dressed in a blue toga. She holds an urn of pink and yellow roses. The reverse has the laurel mark and Mitterteich ensignia from Bavaria Germany. This is the German version of the Royal Vienna, Austria plate with the ladies in togas holding bouquets. The Vienna versions were done with pink borders, but the German Bavarian issue was green with gold hearts. No chips, no cracks, no crazing. This auction is for a Lovely Pair of Small Bavarian Porcelain Portrait Plates. Both have 12 sides and share a Beautiful scroll and floral edge design. One plate depicts a shepherd with a staff and a flock of sheep and a dog by his side. The other depicts a mother and son in the fields harvesting wheat. Both plates measure 6 1/8 inches across and have a Bavaria backstamp in blue. Both are in very good condition especially for their age. There are no chips or cracks in either piece. Rare Antique Art Nouveau Z.S. Co. Bavaria Germany Porcelain Portrait Plate Zeh. Scherzer& Company This is a Royal Vienna style porcelain Art Nouveu portrait piece. This is a bust-length portrait of a raven-haired beauty adorned with white pearls and blue ribbons. She is complemented with a beautiful gold necklace with three stones hanging from the necklace. She has a cloth draped over only one shoulder. The other shoulder is bare. The background around this plate is a burgundy reddish/brown color. It is trimmed in gold with gold around the portrait. Along the rim and gilded flowers around the well of the plate. The ornate rim has also been adorned with gold. There are white marks around the outside of the portrait. The pearls and her draped clothing is raised and appears to be hand painted. There are artistic holes around the outside ... morerim of this plate(please see pictures as they describe this plate better then I can) The bottom has two marks. One is Z.S.Co. Bavaria in green. The second is a gold design of which I am not familiar. The plate measures 8 3/4" across. This was made around 1909 by the Zeh. Scherzer& Co. There are no cracks or chips. This is a portrait plate from Bavaria made by Zeh Scherzer and Co. Royal Vienna. The portrait is of Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Duchess Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz(Luise Auguste Wilhelmine Amalie; 10 March 1776– 19 July 1810) was Queen consort of Prussia as the wife of King Frederick William III. The couple's happy. Though short-lived, marriage produced nine children, including the future monarchs Frederick William IV of Prussia and German Emperor Wilhelm I. The stamp on the back. This beautiful antique portrait plate was made by Z.S. CO.Mignon. Of Bavaria. This plate was hand painted and has the back stamped in Green, marking shows the plate was produced in 1880-1910. The portrait on plate is of Queen Marie Louis in all her finery. This is a 9" plate and is in beautiful condition. The Zeh Scherzer& Co. was founded in 1880, and the resulting products were quite spectacular and today remain a valuable addition to art.

Antique Porcelain Portrait Plate Royal Vienna Bavaria Hutschenreuther Signed
Antique porcelain portrait plate from the Hutschenreuther company of Hohenberg of Bavaria. Germany, circa late 1800s. 9 9/16" wide, signed P. Porges(5th and 6th photos) lower right in the water below the boats prow. Titled on the back(8th photo) Kuss der Wellen" Kiss the Wave) which I believe is referring to a sailors love of the sea is as it is to a woman. Exquisite expression of the subject in a somewhat Greco-Roman style, the young sailor bent over the gunwale of his boat in an embrace with one of the two maidens in the surf. Very well executed heavy gold decoration at edge of subject and plate brim with the outer background color a near cobalt but with a slight gray hue. A note here, the terms Royal Vienna and Royal Bavarian are somewhat loosely used due to the common use of the beehive mark(8th photo) among German, Bavarian ... moreand Austrian ceramists of the day. On the back the is the period Hutschenreuther impressed mark of a crown over a shield, the shield enclosing a C M upper and HR lower(last photo, sorry about the clarity but these are hard to show) Also, on the back is the number 1584(9th photo) Now to the frame(2nd and 7th photos) When I got this piece about 20 years ago I couldn't find a frame that I liked, ended up using a heavy composite body for cheap wall clock, not an easy adaption. 13 3/4" wide, 2" deep, sturdy and heavy, if it doesn't suit you contact me for a less expensive shipping cost(lighter and smaller package) plus I will do a $5.00 discount for my savings in packaging. If you do want the frame just pay as invoiced. Condition is no chips or cracks, very slight wear at the outermost of the gold decoration of the edge(top of piece in photo 4 is the heaviest wear) overall excellent condition.
