Offered here for your consideration is an Antique French Palissy Pottery Charger or Tray from the late 19th to early 20th century. It is in overall good condition with old professional restorations. Restoration and overpaint to fishtail and foot rim. Fine and tight crazing throughout. Some firing flaws. Glaze remnants, a few tiny glaze flakes especially to foot rim and highpoints. Seems to be overpaint to another tail as well. Light glaze scratches, scuffing and other signs of expected light wear commensurate with age. Please see our many photos for detail. Up in this auction is a wonderful Villeroy& Boch/ Schramberg. ... moreArt nouveau, Majolica flower plate w/raised piping around the design. 12" diameter. It is designed to look like flowers and leaves floating in a pond. The basic color is aqua or turquoise with white flowers and green leaves. Marked with the Villeroy& Boch/ Schramberg mark. Ca. 1928-1945. The plate has no major chips or cracks. But there is noticeable fleabytes on several of the raised flowers and leaves piping and a couple of glaze fleabytes on the rim. There is no crazing and the colors are still vivid. The back shows the famed Schramberg mark with their pattern number 1977 embossed. Another number 2 is also embossed. In 1912 the factory was sold to the Jewish brothers Moritz and Leopold Meyer. Who introduced the'SMF' mark in its first version including a fir tree. The business was a normal privately owned business until the brothers decided to reform the business as a company with limited liability, so it was restructured as G.m.b.H. in 1918. All went well for the next years and on March 12th 1922, Moritz Meyer proudly announced the birth of his son Peter. The Meyer brothers were always looking for new designs and many famous artist

For auction is a wonderful majolica grape leaf charger plate. It has nice color and is ink stamped 534 1/2. 11 1/4" Germany. It is stamped with a number(176) and a probably maker's mark. There are scratches to the glaze in the largest leaf(photo 2) small chips to the plate foot ring(photo 11) and a defect(chip/bubble) from one of the firing trivit's feet(photo10) Very nice majolica plate. Rare Sand Majolica Charger Plate w/Lobster and Sea Motif
Up for bid is a rarely seen piece of sand majolica. I know little of this piece other than what I've been told from other dealers who know more than I about pieces like this so it's up to you to bid based on what you may know. What I know is what I see- a very whimsical large charger that has the typical varied and highly colorful and decorative motifs typical of all majolica pieces. It is large measuring a full 12" in diameter. It's main feature is a full figure lobster surrounded by open oyster shells and other sea-related features. On the bottom of the plate is small stone-like texture(hence the term"sand" majolica. I'm told) It has a couple of condition issues to note. One leg of the lobster has been broken off and badly re-glued at some point(it is how I bought it) Another leg has been broken off as has ... moreone of the points near the left eye(as you're looking at the piece. I have the leg pieces and they will be sent with the charger for the buyer to either glue on or have professionally repaired. There are no markings on the bottom giving clue to date or manufacture; there is only heavy twine serving to give a way to hang the charger on the wall, if desired. My understanding is that this is a rare find for the majolica collector and the repairs would be well worth any investment one would care to make. While necessary to note. The condition issues are not readily seen on a casual look at the piece- not at all detracting. It is a conversation piece and would make a unique addition to any fine antiques collection. Huge Art Nouveau Lady Art Pottery Majolica Glaze Germany CICO Charger! DIVINE!
This charger is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous! It is 16" in diameter with a 3" flat lip that has a wonderful bird at the top and flowers and some of the Art Nouveau lady's hair swirled around the bottom. The center is indented and has the gorgeous lady with leaves in pink and green behind her. There is a very very teensy spot on the right rim that I couldn't photograph that I believe is a glaze flake. It is in the black edge. Maybe you can enlarge the photos and see it. But I doubt it. Nothing major, but wanted to mention for accuracy. The glaze is fabulous as are the vibrant colors. The charger is impressed with 445 and ... more1749. There is a smeared underglaze blue mark. Very faint- otherwise no other mark except the mold numbers and an impressed B and gilded hatch mark. No makers mark. c. 1880 and 1890. The charger has a high fired enameled glaze with a gorgeous luster finish. Amazing gold gilded highlights make the charger glow with life. The border edges are reticulated open floral work. The charger/ plaque is 14 7/8" diameter. The background behind the rider is a stunning cobalt blue. It looks nearly black in the photos. As it appears a bit dark. The charger is in wonderful condition for the age. There is really no age crazing to the glaze. The charger has no issues other than a few minor surface scratches on the cobalt only noticeable if the light hits just right. I can't stress how wonderful this piece is in person. A decorated heavy charger with a painting of an armed rider on horseback in a very yellow landscape The back is cream colored with cobalt lines and a hanging mount It measures 29 cm or 11.5 inches in diameter and is about 5 cm or 2 inches tall I think that it is Italian but since it is not marked I cannot be certain. The rider wears an odd costume of mixed plaids with both vest and breeches, he wears a feathered hat and is carrying both a sword and a gun. Rare Majolica Plates Rare antique Majolica hanging charger plates. This is a pair with two different scenes. The charger on the left has a feline faced dragon with a shield with a star and zigzag pattern. Amazing flower and leaf paterns with vibrant colors. The back is stamped" 31 1857" with" 32" hand written on the rim of the foot. Someone put a sticker stating that these appeared in the Paramount film"The Untouchables" I can't confirm or deny this. The charger on the right has a dog or wolf faced eagle with a shield with 3 fleur de li on it. Amazing flower and leaf paterns with vibrant colors. The back is stamped" 31 1857" Size: 16" diameter. ONE large antique1850-80 Italian majolica charger.Renaissance revival,portrait.
This auction is for ONE antique 19th Century Italian majolica charger. Circa 1850-1880. It is 16" in diameter. Most likely it was painted in Faenza. Central Italy, in the Renaissance Revival tradition. The border of the charger has Renaissance Grotesque motifs, and the blue portrait of the young man is in the Florentine style. It is in very good condition, no chips, no cracks or hairlines, only the outer rim has spots where the glaze is missing. In the third picture I compared the size of the charger with a regular dinner plate!

LARGE ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED ITALIAN FAIENCE MAJOLICA CHARGER PLATE, URBINO STYLE
A colorful Italian Faience charger beautifully had painted with a Roman street scene of soldiers attacking a carriage. The charger is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are the usual glaze and mold irregularities of antique Faience pottery and some glaze flakes around the outer rim edge. See example in last photo. The reverse has a mark we were unable to identify, pictured in photo#9. Size approx. 17" in diameter.

Offered for sale is a beautiful maiolica plate or charger featuring two nymphs or muses sitting on a cloud. One holds a lyre in her hands. The other a garland of flowers. The edge is decorated in leaves and flowers. The plate measures 9-5/8 inches in diameter. It is monogrammed on the reverse GM or MG. It dates to at least the 19th century. Condition is very good and the painting is exquisite. Three is one chip to the underside of the rim. Please study the photographs before bidding. Today I am offering a very beautiful Italian Barbotine Majolica Charger by Italian artist Pasquale Cappelli after Guido Reni(1575-1642) It depicts Apollo comanding the chariot of the Sun with Aurora the Roman Goddess of dawn preceding him. It is 20" in diameter(51 cm) Signed Pasquale Cappelli. Impressed mark on the back. RARE LARGE BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE ITALIAN S. ZENO PISA ART POTTERY MAJOLICA CHARGER
This is an exceptional and very rare antique S Zeno Italian art pottery Majolica piece. This studio has a quite interesting history and their pieces are quite rare. The studio had closed by about 1940 and this piece appears to be from the 1920s. It even still has what appears to be its original paper or foil label too- see photos. I can not read what this label says. This charger measures 13 3/4" wide x 1 5/8" tall. It is in very good vintage condition and is a truely amazing Italian art pottery piece. Virginia married an English Lord(Oscar Tobler) and another married a lawyer, Bonucci Lannotti. Laura's mother died in 1899 and her father died in 1905. Laura remained in the family home with her sister, Clara. We know little of Laura's formal education but supposedly she had an affinity for business and an understanding and talent for artistic design. In 1903. Two years before the death of Laura's father she became involved with the Italian Feminine Industries Committee(Comitato Industrie Femminili Italiane) which was founded in Pisa by Madame Benzoni Teresa Martini, at the urging of the Countess de Brazza Savorgnan, chairman of the Committee of Rome. Thus, in 1926 the"Terracotta Artists of of San Zeno" Terracotte Artistiche di San Zeno) was born. Laura took on a partner. Margaret Bassolina, who became the company's artistic director and together they hired Giotto Fagiolini who taught the art of ceramics decoration to classes of women(no men) Laura left the factory in 1936 to involve herself with other ventures

RAREMASSIVE ANTIQUE SCHUTZ BLANSKO AUSTRIAN MAJOLICA STAG HUNTING CHARGER PLATE
This is a specatular majolica example by famous Austrian maker Schutz Blansko. It has their 19th century marks and appears to be from about 1897. It has a fantastic hunting motif and hand painted deer or elk in the center of this charger. It has one chip of about 1/2" wide on back of the piece but this does not show during normal use. Overall it is very nice antique condition and looks amazing. It measures 13 1/2" wide x 2" tall. Thank you and have a great day.
