Offered for sale is an armorial charger or plate of unknown origin. It could be from England. France or America, it doesn't look Chinese to me. On the reverse is an iron read mark of a square with a dot inside and a dot outside as well as four dots in gold, similar to marks used in both England and France. The front features an armorial with a shield containing a chevron and three stars surmounted by a lion holding a star. Underneath is a banner that reads"Courage and Light" There are flower garlands around the armorial. The edge of the plate is a dark blue with gilding. No reserve. Early English 18c. Porcelain Blue & White Oriental Transferware Plate Attr. Bow
This listing is for an Antique Blue Transferware and painted Plate tentatively attributed to Bow factory of England during the 18c. I am sure it is a very old piece of transferware. But as to whom the maker is we are not fully sure. The plate measures about 8-1/8" in diameter and does have two chips one to the back side of the rim and one to the foot. The plate has a blue oriental transferware pattern on the front and a hand painted cobalt back side. The plate has suffered warring to the body, usually as a result of faulty mix or imperfections in the clay body. My suspicion is this piece is an experimental piece from 1825-75 or there about. Antique English 1825 Davenport Stone China Porcelain, #6 "Flying Bird" Plate
This beautiful stone china dinner plate is a true collectible antique. This particular English porcelain plate was manufactured by the Davenport company and bears the blue anchor stamp. Under glaze, on the back, which dates this plate from between c.1815 to 1825 It also has the red number six on the edge, under glaze. The ironstone plate measures approximately 8.5" in diameter and weighs approximately 13.75 ounces. There is an original purchase sticker(Jane J. Marsden Antiques) from a decade ago still affixed to the back. The edges of this plate have a slight scallop which mimics the shape of a flower while the beautiful cobalt blue patterns outline a scene from nature. This highly sought after Davenport, No. 6 pattern is called the"Flying Bird" The bird is just landing on a flowering tree branch while numerous yellow, pink, ... morered, and orange flowers adorn the background. There are also numerous leaves in various shades of greens, blues, and reds. There is some gold on a large flower and the bird, but the rest of the plate has no gold. Although this plate was only used for display purposes(see back) there is only minimal wear and the stone china has no cracks or chips. There is some discoloration(dirt scuffs and old label glue) but can be cleaned, but I'll leave that to the professionals in this case to prevent any damage. This stunning English stone china plate needs a good home where it will be protected; after all, it is a true treasure and would enhance any decor or collection. This plate measures 8 5/16 inches across. There are 6 notches in the rim. Indicative of Coalport c1805. There are no marks on the back, which is typical for this type of ware. A yellow band. As well as gilding(giving it a sort of copper lustre look) in the form of bands and a flower in the middle are present for decoration. Please see the photos for the condition. No chips or cracks. 2 Chamberlains Worcester English Porcelain Dinner Plate mid 19th Century Antique Offered for sale are two very similar. Almost identical dinner plates, both impress marked Chamberlains. They date to the mid 19th century and have paint decorated floral decoration over underglaze blue with gold highlights. Both plates have heavy stacking wear in the inner rim area that don't affect the paint. One plate has natural glaze crazing and the other is uncrazed. The plate with the crazing also has a small flake of glaze off in the inner rim area and the other plate has a shallow 1/4" flake off the back edge, not seen on the front. The gold has light wear and the paint is in nice condition with only slight wear. Both plates also have some flaking on the base rims that is underglaze and as made from the factory. It has retailers marks on the back from Tyndale& Mitchells of Philadelphia. The company operated from 1876-1889. The plate feature lovely hand painted flowers in the center and an embellished transfer border. It measures 9 1/4" in diameter. The plate is in good overall condition with no chips. The decorations are less fine representations of the more elaborate fine Imari products of the Derby Potteries. I am not trying to piggyback on the reputation of the aforementioned. I simply point out a point of reference. The piece is an attractive item in its own right.There is loss to the gilding in the large flow blue area otherwise it is quite distinct and intact. There are two small incised marks on the back, a 5 and another one that is indistinct. There are two tiny nicks on the bottom rim-please see photo. Item is as described.Please no returns. Beautiful Antique Chamberlains Worcester English Porcelain Plate Cobalt Blue Very fine signed Chamberlains Worcester plate with cobalt blue border and hand painted flower center with gold highlights. The mark dates this plate pre 1840. The condition is perfect with no damage or repair. There is some slight stacking wear in the inner rim area and normal glaze crazing with a little associated discoloration that would easily disappear with a professional cleaning. The discoloration is not noticed on the front. The lines on the back are guaranteed just surface crazing. There are no hairline cracks. The plate measures 8&3/4" in diameter.
