Superb Set 6 Antique Asian Hand Painted & Signed Porcelain Bird Plates Bold Pink
This auction is for a Superb Set of 6 Antique Hand Painted and Signed Pink Bird and Flower Asian Porcelain plates. They Display Wonderfully and would instantly add a burst of color to any china cabinet. They are beautifully hand painted with images of birds perche d on tree branches amid flowers and berries and leaves and a bold border of Pink and an edge of black with gold over-painted patterns. I believe they would be considered Chinese Export pieces given the form and feel of the porcelain and likely date to the mid to late 1800s. All but one of the plates are signed on the back with Asian c haracters. Although they have the same Pink and Black and Gold bordering. The plates are all slightly different. One has a Blue and Pink bird; two have a Yellow bird and three have a Blue and Yellow bird. The plates have age appropriate but minor loss ... moreof paint and gilting. One plate has a chip(see photo 11) on the underside back rim and a glaze pop on the front. One plate has some black dots of paint on the face. One has a long hairline crack that can be seen from the front(see last photo) The plates measure about 8 1/2 inches across. Please check my feedback and buy with confidence. 1877 Antique Transferware Transfer Ridgway Indus Aesthetic Movement Bird Plates
Antique plate from an estate sale- 10-1/4" diam. I believe it's dated 1877. Overall crazing and a chip at 5 o'clock. Ridgway. Sparks& Ridgway, Bedford Works, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire had a short history from 1873- 1879. This wonderful early Victorian aesthetic"Indus" pattern in black transfer features a center design of water fowl and foliage. The border pictures flying birds, foliage and flowers. The plate is 10-1/4" in diam. The stamped mark of a ribbon with the pattern name"Indus" above"R.S.R" and below the English registry mark indicating the date of manufacture as June 15, 1877. 4 Lovely Antique Ironstone Polychrome 10" Plates Ashworth Bros B9461 Flying Bird
This auction is for a Set of 4 Lovely Antique Ironstone Polychrome Soup Plates made by Ashworth Brothers of Hanley England in the mid to late 1800s. The pattern is known as B9461. But I have also seen it be called Flying Bird and Long Tailed Bird and Pekoe. It depicts an Asian scene with a long tailed bird flying above oversized flowers and branches and is boldly and brightly colored in orange. Pink, green and blue and trimmed in an ochre or mustard yellow edging. The colors are hand applied under the glaze. The Set Displays Wonderfully together. Each plate measure 10 inches across. There are no chips or cracks to any of the plates. They have age-appropriate wear of the ochre colored rim(last photo) which doesn’t detract from the overall appeal of this Great Find. One plate has crazing throughout. These pieces are Very Hard to find. For your consideration. An Antique set of 5 Majolica plates, made by Sarreguemines, c.late 1800′s– early 1900. A very scarce pattern showing 2 gray& white Swallows soaring against a sky blue background with whispy white clouds. The birds are quite dimensional, with raised molding. The plates have a scalloped edging slightly glazed in white to suggest clouds. A charming set, rarely seen. 8″ across. Most are marked on the rear with the impressed“Sarreguemines” A few are unmarked. Minor loss to a few of the high points of the birds. Visible stilt marks seen on the back. A kiln effect. Here is a very nice set of plates and a platter. All hand painted with assorted game birds and a landscape background. The plates are a bit under 9 1/2" in diameter and 1 1/8" high at the edge. There is hardly any wear, we had to look real hard to find any on a couple plates, there are no chips or cracks or utensil marks. Antique Copeland Hand Painted small Bird Plates 1850-67 - Set of 12
Amazing set of 12 Hand Painted small(Bread& Butter? plates by W.T. Copeland. Very early in their history. The impressed Copeland mark dates these plates to between 1850 and 1867. Each plate is hand painted with a bird perched on a branch. Surrounding the bird are various insects such as bees and dragonflys. Some have butterflys. All have additional leaves and or berries. Each plate has a gold band around the outer edge. There are 12 of these plates with at least 5 different species of birds. However- even on the plates that have the same species- they are each painted differently. Plates measure 5 1/4" in diameter.Several have a fair amount of loss to the gilding along the rim. Several have tiny"flea bites" around the edges, but these are not noticeable. One has a small(1/4" chip on it's edge. This is really the ... moreonly noticeable chip. Each plate has the impressed Copeland mark along with various artist stamps and other production marks. If you would like detailed pictures of each plate. I will be glad to email them to you. The plates depict naturalistic scenes with central bird images and four cartouche designs with floral and bird motiffs. The plates have a stippled blue background and gold gilt accents with around the rim and images. The plates are marked. But their design is unmistakeable. antique game bird plates cabinet plates set of 3 pre 1915
Set of 3 beautiful antique hand painted game bird plates for display. Age unknown. However there is a hand written sticker on the back of one that says this was given to grandmother(name inserted) 1910-1915. I have covered the grandmother's name for privacy. Sticker with all information will remain on plate. There are also pieces of white tape with numbers on the backs of the plates. I have plates two, three and four of the set that apparently the grandmother had. These were discovered in a bric-a-brac shop where I hunted and finally found these three, I could not find anymore. These have wire hangers. They also have paint loss from rubbing and surface scratches. They are approximately 9 inches wide along the width and just over 8 inches from top to bottom, not quite round. They have a pretty scalloped edge with gold gilding. The gold ... moregilding is partially rubbed off. These are not perfect, but for the age they are still beautiful.
