Very nice hand painted porcelain plate from Germany. Diameter 9 and 1/8 inches. Age unclear-definitely before 1945 and likely from the late 19th-early 20th century. Shows some kind of game bird(snipe? woodcock? strolling by the banks of a lake. Gold trim. Marked on reverse C.T. Germany with green eagle mark. Apparently indicates Carl Tielsch. Also shows blind incised E2B Excellent used condition. No nicks. Cracks, fleabites. Some wear to gold trim on rim but not bad. No utensil wear, no scratches. From the'net: CT Germany was first part of a mark used by a company in Altwasser. Germany(now part of Walbrzych, Poland) in 1845. The mark was used by Carl Tielsch. Hand painted game display or cabinet plate or plaque. Measure just under 7.5" in diameter. Very nice detail no chips. Cracks or other issues. There is a small indentation(beneath the glaze) on the back which could be a makers mark. But if so, I am unable to make it out. The front is unsigned. This was in our house for many years so I know it is at least 60 years old. But, likely much older as I am sure it was purchased as such originally. Antique Limoges Flambeau Hand Painted Wild Game Bird Plate Artist Signed
This is an antique Limoges LDB& Co. Flambeau hand painted and artist signed decorative wall plate. The wild bird is surrounded by loads of color including leaf green. Slate blue, yellow, cream and pink. This is one of the more colorful plates in the wild bird series that I have seen. The edges are rim in gilded gold and the artist initials are REM. This plate measures 10" and is in excellent condition. The gold along the rim is worn from age. This plate was designed to be hung on a wall and has a hole on the back(see photo) The markings say Limoges. LBDC Flambeau, France, Hand Painted. The second marking is a torch with what looks like"Limoges" draped across the front. This plate will be carefully wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap and insured. The plates have an elegant scalloped design with fluting at the rim. Each plate is beautifully hand painted with a different bird including Heron. Wild Turkey, Gannet, Red Grouse, Wood Cock, Widgeon, Crested Grebe, Avocet, Ring Dove, Snipe, Mallard, and Bernicle Goose. The painting is very nicely done against a light yellow ground with a peach color around the edges. The plates were most likely made in the late 1800s. Each plate is marked on the underside with the name of the bird pictured. Bodley Hanley England for the maker, and Gilman, Collmore& Co. New York for the retailer. All of the plates are signed by the artist, W. ... moreBellis or W. Ballis. The Bernicle Goose plate is cleanly broken into two pieces as you can see in the photographs. But otherwise the set is in excellent condition with only a few spots of minor surface wear near the edges. I believe the broken plate could probably be professionally restored, or certainly glued back together. It might not be usable but it would make a nice cabinet plate. Fine Antique Limoges LS&S Hand Painted Game Bird Set Service Platter & 12 Plates
Here is a very nice set of plates and a platter. All hand painted with assorted game birds and a landscape background. The plates are a bit under 9 1/2" in diameter and 1 1/8" high at the edge. There is hardly any wear, we had to look real hard to find any on a couple plates, there are no chips or cracks or utensil marks. The platter is also in excellent condition, measures 18" x 12 1/2" x 2" high at the edge. It is rare to find a set this clean and complete. Everything will be shipped double boxed. BUY. SELL. Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this lovely antique cabinet plate made by the Limoges factory for the American importer George Borgfeldt. It bears the Coronet mark#1 which dates this plate to have been made between1906-1920. Hand painted and signed by a well known Limoges artist"Coudert" who was well known for his animals. Domestic and game birds, flowers and Cavaliers. This plate has a factory hole on the back so you can hang it on your wall. This plate features a scalloped. Molded and pearled rim with heavy gold. The center scene is of a very colorful male cock pheasant standing in front of pine trees. It measures 10.25 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs.
