ANTIQUE POLYCHROME TRANSFERWARE SOUP BOWL PLATE STAFFORDSHIRE CHINOISERIE MINTON
I am downsizing some of my collections and have decided to sell my VERY RARE ANTIQUE EARLY most likely ENGLISH 1800's POLYCHROME GREEN TRANSFERWARE STAFFORDSHIRE? MINTON? SOFT PASTE CHINOISERIE BUTTERFLY PEONY MOTIF SOUP BOWL PLATE. I have had this for a very long time sitting in my cupboard. So time for someone else to enjoy it! This is an absolutely gorgeous soft paste polychrome soup plate. I have never seen another(except for the one other that I have! This is a dodecahedron or 12 sides shallow soup plate measuring 8 3/4" in diameter. The plate is a rare green blue transfer with p o l y c h r o m e butterfly, peony, rose. Coreopsis, delphinium and assorted leaves and sprays. The colors are gorgeous. Rich and deep, periwinkle blue, antique red and mulberry. There are condition issues. But who cares? You are not going to find another ... moreof these! There is a 2" long very old brown hairline that goes clean through and a very old brown stained 3/4" X 3/4" chip flake on the edge(please see my photos, these condition issues are well documented) The glaze is crackled throughout. There is toning discoloration and little gray mottled stains throughout as well as little old flea bites on the underside"foot" rim. This still has a wonderful antique look and if you love soft paste. This is a must have! The underside is marked with an eagle, cormorant bird or phoenix. Not sure, as well as" PRINCES FEATHER E. CHALINOR" I have always loved this soup plate. Truly hate to part with it but I am in the process of downsizing due to some life changes. Good luck on this wonderful and very very old rare soft paste plate, don't miss out on this! It is just charming with the wonderful feel of a time gone by. This is a 6" chinoiserie plate made in England about 1820. It has a transfer print of"The Birdseller" which has been enhanced with hand painted colors. It has a pink lustre border and is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or damage. This pattern and plate is from the time when the English were competing with Chinese Export ware. It represents the British version of an Asian pattern.

And one bigger chip to the bottom of the rim as seen in the third to last image. English Delft Chinoiserie plate c. 1750 8.5"
Well. I am pretty sure I have an English Delft plate from about 1750 in a design to copy Chinese ones. It seems to be a pavilion and a fence with very stylized trees. It is 8.5" in diameter and has a bluish-gray tin glaze. The ochre edge is chipped most of the way around, but really leaves the plate in very good shape. There is a little fleck of ochre in the border. The back has a couple places where the glaze didn't adhere, and nice stilt marks. I researched this plate for a couple days, knowing it was a tin glaze. What fun I had! I found another that looked like a realistic version of this design, but really didn't see anything quite as abstract as this one. I'd love to know more about it if you have the inclination.

Antique Minton & Holllins Chinoiserie-style Dessert Plate - 7 5/8" Diameter
Rare and gorgeous Minton& Hollins plate in the Chinoiserie style. Minton partnered with a Michael Hollins in 1845 until 1868. Primarily for tile-making purposes but, as you can see, produced at least this lovely plate as well. The handpainted enamels are exceedingly detailed and bright, and the plate is in excellent antique condition, as you can see in the pictures. No chips, cracks or crazing, and no cutlery or other use marks. Excellent manufacturer's stamp on the back. Validating the manufacturer and date. I was able to find the pattern number; it's Minton's#3969. The plate is 7 5/8" in diameter. I did my best to capture the style and quality in pictures. ANTIQUE ASHWORTH BROS ENGLISH IRONSTONE CHINOISERIE PLATE
This is a fine example of English chinoiserie ironstone plate produced by the Ashworth Bros. in the early to mid-1800's. It bears the back mark of the blue crown; Ashworth Bros. is above the crown with the Hanley banner-crest below. England is printed outside and beneath the banner. There are impressed and stamped numbers and the letter F in addition to the back mark. The center imagery is a Chinese landscape showing prunus trees in bloom. And ladies in traditional attire. There is extensive use of colors in varying shades: blue, red, green, yellow, brown and lustre which enhances the entire decoration. There is some loss of paint along the edges. Diameter: 27.2 cm from the top point to the base center Condition: Minor repairs to each corner Triangular plates such as the current example were part of hors d'oeuvre ensembles or sweet meat ensembles. Sometimes also referred to as rice table sets. Complete sets are extremely rare. The red residue on the back is probably an old wax seal- an indication of a noble collection- gone bad. Offered for your personal collection is this lovely antique vintage french faience plate. Made by the Saint Clement majolica factory and hand painted by the noted artist Armand Aubry. He started working at this factory in 1925. He did not put the year on the back. This lovely plate features a scalloped rim trimmed in a brownish-red and has flowers and green leaves sprinkled about. The center scene features an oriental man in a large hat and colorful clothing carrying a flagged staff in amongst rocks and vegetation. Just beautiful! It is in excellent antique vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There are a few minute traces of wear which is normal and expected with antique and vintage faience and majolica.
