LOT X6) ANTIQUE Hermann Ohme Plate 7-1/2" Porcelain Eglantine Floral Gilding(Made in Germany) Manufactured 1895-1910(determined by hallmark) Description: Apricot/Peach Color Floral Motif with Gilding This is a LOT of SIX(6) lovely porcelain plates by Hermann Ohme from Salesia Germany. The pattern is unknown as are most or all Hermann Ohme items. The manufacturing date is firm 1895-1910 as identified by the hallmark on the bottom of the plates. The hallmark on these plates is the"fleur-de-lis" mark. The top of the mark is a crown. Immediately below is the O on top of a stylized H for Hermann Ohme. GERMANY appears at the bottom of the stamp. Photo#3 shows the hallmark. Taken from an online encyclopedia because I could not get a good shot. These plates have been stored in my home since 1952. I don't know where they were prior ... moreto 1952. But I assure you that they were never displayed and never used for the last 61+ years. I believe the saying goes: You can take that to the bank. These plates are fine examples of early Eglantine by Hermann Ohme. Eglantine is a shape. Not the name of a pattern. Hermann Ohme produced two types of porcelain in four shapes. The two types are Old Ivory and Clear Glaze. These plates are clear glaze. The floral motif is primarily a pastel apricot- or peach-colored flower with vines and leaves. The outer rim and the inner rim have a raised design in the porcelain- very elegant. All six plates have gold(gilding) remaining. I am not a gold percentage expert. So I cannot tell you how much is worn away and how much remains. I can tell you that the gold is better than my photos suggest. I examined the plates carefully. I find no chips. No cracks, no crazing, no evidence of repair, no loss of color or pattern apart from the gilding. All six plates have utensil marks. HOWEVER, these marks are not like the marks you see on more contemporary china. The marks are very SPARSE and barely noticeable even when viewed on an angle in good light. Hermann Ohme Porcelains Ohme china is a beautiful porcelain produced by the Porcelain Manufacturer Hermann Ohme between 1882 and 1928. The factory was located in Niedersalzbrunn. Silesia, Germany(now the town of Walbrzych in Western Poland) This factory produced two major types of porcelain. Which are generally referred to as clear glaze and Old Ivor(y) porcelains. Both lines of Ohme Porcelains were produced in full dinner sets and multiple accessories similar to those produced by the Haviland Factory in Limoges, France, during this period. Ohme clear glaze porcelains were produced for sale in Europe. As well as the United States. These two side or salad plates are marked Silesia on the back with the blue crown over the word. They have a white floral-embossed scalloped rim. The fish transferware patterns have some wear. You are bidding on 4 Hermann Ohme Silesia Germany dish/plates that are in excellent condition. The pieces need a little cleaning but do not have any chips. Cracks or repair marks- please see pictures. The hand painting is in excellent shape. The plate is approximately 6" across. The mark on the rear indicates this dish was manufactured between 1900 and 1920 at Nieder-Salzbrunn. I have described this dish to best of my ability and do not warrant the dish from unknown defects. Hermann Ohme 1882-1930 Dipping Sauce Dish - Blue Flowers
This auction is for a small bowl/dish that these days would be used for a dipping sauce. The pattern is blue flowers. There is a small chip on the back that is visible in the second photo. On the left hand side. The gold is still in good shape. This piece is unique because the paint for the flowers is actually able to be seen and felt through the glaze. The mark that distinguishes this as one of the earliest Hermann Ohme pieces was identified using the Porcelain Marks& More website. As well as the SOIOP website. Used between 1882 and 1900, crowned'OH' registered at the Königliches Amtsgericht Waldenburg under №·25 on August 6th 1883. The provenance of this piece stems back to my grandparents. Who were German. The dishes were passed from them to my mother, and then to me. I have three other pieces with different flowers ... moreon them. In researching this piece. So elegant and beautiful! I am offering an opportuntity to OWN(2) Ca 1925 Hermann Ohme, 7.5" porcelain dessert/salad plates(think of the time spent on searching for another and the extra postage) These are almost TOO nice for just table service. I could picture them in a plate stand OR in a powder room with a pillar candle. The"blank" is the"clear glazed white" Not ivory. The shape is Eglantine(prominent scalloping) The plates are heavily EMBOSSED with a pattern on the inner rim as well as a garlanding of small"mountain peaks" Just below the inner rim. There are swags of light orchid or lilac(close to this font color)With blush pink embellishment and green leaves. There is a gold gilt"pin striping" along the outer rim. as it goes with older. Even GENTLY used plates) there is significant loss to ... moregilding. However, since it was only a thin embellishment on the rim.it in no way detracts from the plates(IMO) Both plates carry the GREEN Hermann Ohme GERMANY mark. Which indicates a manufacturing date of between 1900- 1920. Each plate has a gold rim. I could not see any signatures. But they are pretty and would make a nice gift.
