The center cartouches display hummingbird in one and a partridge( in another. This tureen has some wear to the decals around the spoon holder and on some of the corners and does have a line at the spoon cut out as photographed. Such a very very rare piece in overall great vintage condition. The marks on the bottom of the plate include the stamping of RIDGWAYS and DEVONSHIRE(the pattern name) as well as Rd. No. 2302 and a printed 688. The trademark quiver and bow are also printed. The pattern was first introduced in 1884. The design shows the Victorian love of nature and the exotic. The Japanesque and Aesthetic Movement influences include the asymmetric design, the decorative geometric border of sunflower motifs as well as central bird motifs. The inner background consists of an overall pattern of tiny repeated floral design. The outer border consists of stylized, geometricized flowers and leaves. Wedgwood Brown Transferware Plate - Ferrara Pattern - 9 1/4" Diameter
Beautiful brown and white transferware plate. Made in the mid-1830s to 1840s by Wedgwood, in near mint condition. The pattern is called"Ferrara" featuring a border of finely detailed blooms surrounding a picture of sailing ships in port. The engraving is so fine you can make out faces on some of the people on board. On the back of the plate is the"Wedgwood" impress mark and a double"K" mark. There is a very. Very slight indication on the bottom rim of wear so I doubt this plate was used much. It's free of any chips or cracks. The diameter is 9 1/4" and it stands 3/4" tall, from bottom to rim. Antique Pearlware plate, brown & white transferware, Chinese scene, pre 1890
Antique pearlware plate with brown and white transfer of a Chinese scene. This 7 1/2" diameter plate is in perfect condition with no chips. Cracks, crazing or discoloration. If you look closely at the design around the rim you will notice that it is not symmetrical. The number of flowers between the leaves and the length of vine varies with each placement of the transfer. The facial expressions of the people in the scene are quite interesting. There is no mark on this plate but it is possibly Creil of France. The lack of identification dates this piece to before 1890 and it is likely early 1800's. Brown transferware plate by Charles Meigh from the series: American Cities And Scenery. This particular plate exhibits an image of Yale College and is titled Yale College New Haven. The plate is stamped with the initials CM as well as having the incised mark. It is in remarkably good condition having a small chip on the underside of the rim, a hairline crack under the glaze, and fine chips on the rim on which the plate rests. ENGLISH BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATE. ALHAMBRA, 1830-55(est. This beautiful brown Staffordshire transferware plate is 7.5 inches in diameter. In the center of the plate is a view of the famous Alhambra in Granada, Spain. Roses and grape leaves surround the image of the palace. The plate is marked"Alhambra" on the back. This pattern is on page 127 in Staffordshire II by Petra Williams. The manufacturer was English but the maker's name is not known. The time of manufacture is estimated to be 1830-1855. The plate has no cracks. There are three very tiny chips or nicks on the edge as well as some wear on one area of the edge. On the front there are some small imperfections caused during the transfer process(more than 150 years ago! Up for auction a lovely Aesthetic brown transferware 8.25" plate by an unknown maker dating to the 1880's. The plate features a geometric border and 3 different motifs around the outer area of the plate leaving the center fairly blank. The first is a wonderful scroll cartouche set against a flowering branch probably prunus or cherry blossom. Inside the scroll is depicted an Asian figure. The second smaller motif is a circle cartouche featuring a stork or crane also set against a flowering branch. Marked on the back with a circle with PEKIN in the center also 12. this looks to be quite old. the back has discoloration. on the front there is a chip at the bottom, see the next to last photo. and if you hold this at a slant you can see some variation in glaze that is not apparent when looking at it straight on. I'm not an expert but described best as I can. a pretty plate.

This auction is for an Ultra Rare Antique Brown Transferware Staffordshire Plate made by Davenport of England circa 1820 in the company's"Florentine Fountain" pattern. The pattern is intricate and unique with a floral and butterfly border and a classic Gothic Garden Scene at the center and a scalloped edge I have seen very few other pieces in this pattern in red. But NONE anywhere for sale online in Brown. The plate is 10 5/8 inches across and is in Very Good condition. Especially for being 180 years old. There are no chips or cracks or repairs. This beautiful 7-1/2" luncheon plate made by W. T. Copeland& Sons dating from 1870s is in a pattern called Old/ English Abbey Ruins. Color is rich and strong and the oak leaf and acorn border is sharp. Hard to believe this plate survived in such lovely age-appropriate condition. Very slight glaze pop on back upper right side. Absolutely no chips. Cracks, or repairs. There is a slight rough spot along right edge which I believe is the glaze. Very, very light cutlery marks only visible under light and at an angle. Staffordshire Dark Brown Transferware 10.5" Dinner Plate, Lily of the Valley
Staffordshire Lily of the Valley Very Dark Brown(Almost Black) Transferware O ffered for auction: This is a lovely large plate with an elaborate transferware design of lily of the valley flowers surrounded by a garland and ribbon on the embossed scalloped rim. After extensive googling. I have not been able to identify the maker or date. The closest I could find was the same plate(but in a lavender or purple color) offered in a"Victoriana" auction at a New Hampshire auction house, where it was listed as Staffordshire transferware. This large plate measures 10.5 inches wide across the rim. It is in good condition. With no chips or cracks. There is a fair amount of utensil marks, but none that mar the design. There is also heavy crazing, most noticeable on the underside, particularly on the underedge of the rim, where it has slightly ... moredarkened in places. There is a bit of faint brown crazing on the front as well, along with a brown scratched mark on the back side(see photos with red arrows) Finally, there is a spot in the design where the transferware ends and starts! The only mark on this interesting plate is an impressed number. Which is hard to decipher; I think it says 639(or 630) I believe this plate is likely mid-19th Century ironstone, possibly from the Aesthetic movement. Terms. Conditions, and Shipping: 1. This brown transferware plate is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. As can be seen from the pictures. The color is also very good.
