Wooton - Wooten( sp?) Desk drop front supports - 1 original and 2 reproductions
While repairing a Wooton desk for a customer some time ago. I needed to replace the drop front desk supports with 2 of the same length since one was missing and the other had a broken receiver flange as seen in the pictures. I kept the original as a pattern and had 4 made in steel at that time. Of course. I used 2 of the steel reproductions on the project so this is what is left. The original is cast iron and is more brittle than the steel. I doubt I'll ever work on another Wooton since they are so rare! I'm selling off my vintage& antique hardware and hoping someone can use these for their restoration or reproduction project. I might split off the original from the 2 reproduction supports if someone needs just that and makes me the right offer or I might sell the 2 reproduction supports again with the right offer! The last picture ... moreis from Antiquarian Trader's website showing what their reproductions cost. You can realize from this that I'm offering these at a really low price even if they are slightly irregular castings. These parts are mostly hidden and the areas of these that do show looks good in my opinion. As- Is. No returns! Ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

This beautiful piece of American history is constructed from solid American oak that has aged beautifully. The hand tooling on the drop front and cabinet panels is meticulous and detailed. There are 2 small side drawers featuring period brass handles and 1 wide center drawer to the front that is secured with a key latch. The pull-out rails are solid and in perfect condition. Generally antiques of this period will possess subtle elements of wear. Which invariably add to the charm of the piece. The short, sturdy feet show some age appropriate wear. A very old. Early 1800's or possibly late 1700's walnut drop front 4 drawer desk. Exterior wood, sides, top drawer fronts are solid walnut, and the minor interior wood is a softer pine or fir. has a flat, single panel flat rough cut bottom, typical of 1700's style chests. Hand cut dovetails. sides are solid, intact minor cracking as shown in pictures. Back is missing the middle board. Top is dovetail attached. Missing 1 brass drawer bail on bottom drawer. Appears to be original finish. Drawer bottoms have some cracking. Drawers and drop front have locking mechanisms, no key. Square head type nails throughout. Beautiful Antique Oak Secretary Bookcase Side by Side drop front Desk, quality
This is a really well built secretary desk/bookcase. Nice heavy oak. Sawtooth shelf brackets. Knapp dovetailing in the drawers dates the piece between 1870 and 1900. The smaller mirror is bevelled. The pulls are all a nice heavy brass. The condition is excellent. The cabinet is 81 inches tall. 55 inches wide and 17 inches deep. There are six skeleton locks. But no key. The cabinet on the upper left has a mirror on the back wall. There are two oak shelves that can be adjusted with the sawtooth oak bracket(see photo) It is 27 inches wide 45 inches tall and 9.5 inches deep. The two drawers on the lower left are 8 inches tall. 27 inches wide and 9 inches deep. The drop front desk lid is 18 inches tall and 23 inches wide. Inside the desk ar cubby hole and a small drawer. Below the desk part is a drawer that is 4 1/2 inches tall. 23 inches tall ... moreand 9 inches deep. Below that drawer is a cabinet that is 16 1/2 inches tall. 23 1/2 inches wide and 14 inches deep. The cabinet is in excellent condition. The carved top piece is removable. Also the remainder of the cabinet is in two pieces. Witht he larger part sitting on the shoerter base. Local pickup only. Cherry Drop Front Desk/Secretary, Carved Heads, Carved Front , Spindles, Panels
This is one of the prettiest antique pieces I have seen for a while. Structurally. It is in very good condition. The joints are all tight, the dovetails are excellent and there is little if any damage to the intricate carving. It is constructed of solid cherry with oak drawer sides. The drawer sides show very little wear and all of the bottoms are original to the piece. Unfortunately, the drawer pulls are probably replacements and the piece came to me with a flat mirror. The top panel on the right side has a slight split caused by normal shrinkage. Also on the right side you can see that the wood where the drop hinge is secured to the drop front has been very professionally repaired. With just 12 pictures I can’t show the back, but I will say that all of the back panels are original except to the one that covers the back of the mirror. Overall ... morethis is an excellent piece. It obviously was well cared for and still has the original finish. It is 61 inches tall, 31 inches wide and 17 inches deep front to back. for sale probably the nicest period walnut secretary piece to be had. it was advertised as belter some 20-25 years ago at an estate auction in miss. i expect it is mitchell and rammelsburg but it does not matter. it is civil war era probably made circa 1860-1870. the drawer are hand dove tailed for joints and the bottoms are hand chamfered. it is in perfect condition. the drawers are all solid and do not wiggle or wobble. all the drawers and doors fit perfectly. all drawers and doors have functional locks that work perfectly with the original key. there are no seams in the construction. the sides of the lower drawer portion is one board like 18+ inches wide as well as the sides of the bookcase portion. the walnut used in the construction is of the finest quality with wonderful and perfect grain. it as you see has a pierced carved crest or ... morecrown board that is superbly done and matches the carving on the top of the arched doors of the bookcase. inside the cubbies are perfect along with the drawer. it is a 2 piece affair. The bookcase and cubbies section lifts off the base. it sits on the base and is secured with pegs on either side. i expect the leather on the drop front has been replaced. it is in great condition. the whole piece is just about as good as it can get, not damages or blemishes anywhere that are noteworthy. of course all the large key covers are carved as well as the drawer pulls. it is just a very very nice item. i think it cost about 4500 20 some years ago. i have still have several secretaries and have owned many many of them. i have never owned a nicer one. it is probably the tallest one i have ever owned. it is 98.5 inches to the top of the crest with its original porcelain casters. the cabinet portion is 33 inches tall and 44 inches wide, and 19.5 inches deep. it is 65.6 inches from the top of the cabinet to the top of the crest. the outside of the bookcase is 42 inches wide and 122 inches deep. the inside of the bookcase is 35 inches tall, 10 inches deep, and 40.5 inches wide. the secretary

We are selling a lovely antique secretary drop front desk with an inlaid design on the front. As you can see the inlay pattern is quite nice and incorporates mother of pearl. The desk stands approximately 40" high by 28" wide by 15.5" deep. While the desk is a little rough around the edges- it could use a thorough cleaning and does have a number of scuffs and dings. As well as some loss to the back panel and the lower right edge of the front- it has a nice shape and patina with a little TLC will have a lot of use left to offer.
