Outstanding pair of early spill vases that have been filled and capped possibly during production. Faint impression on the back bottom of girl that looks like"GERMANY" Which I've tried to capture in the photos but is so light as to be indiscernible. Bisque porcelain with a green matte glaze with gold accents. Superb condition for age with only some minor chipping: Boy: flower is missing its leaves- Girl: Flower is missing one petal. All else is intact and perfect! No repairs, hairlines, etc. Check out the girls' hat! Both are standing on ladders(orchard sitters) Heavy from being filled. No other discernible marks. The vase is handpainted only on one side as it was intended to sit on a mantel. It is 8 1/2" high to tip of boys' hat. And is it 5 3/4" long. The vase is about 3 1/2" deep. The vase is a sheath of wheat with a vine across the top. The young boy is beautifully painted with typical German clothing. And such detail on the pants. Note the knee socks.beautiful face. And definition work in his shirt. The ONLY flaw to report is a lost tip of the thumb on the boys right hand. It is very hard to notice. The famous Unger. Schneider& Co. of Grafenthal, Thuringia, Germany is incised on the bottom of the base. Exquisite detail in workmanship is what this beautiful vase presents. Every aspect of this victorian bisque piece is magnificant right down to the gold slippers the young lady is wearing. The vase measures about 6 1/2" tall and is about 6 1/4" in length. I believe that this is Imperial. It is marked on the back bottom righthand side- there is an oval with a mark inside. Which I cannot make out clearly and a number incized next to the oval that reads 10049 or it could be 13049. This piece is basically in mint condition with some slight wear inthe gold accent along the base and the very top column. A high quality piece for your quality collection. There is some slight flaking on one of the flowers(nothing distracting- take a look in the pic tures) It displays beautifully and is clean& bright. Measuring approximately 6" tall and 3" at its widest. It is marked on the bottom with the RW with the crown over it in a shield and says Rudolstadt underneath and Germany on top. Antique Majolica Duck& A Pond Spill Vase Match Holder/Striker. Vase measures approx. 14 cm long. 13 cm wide with a height of around 11 cm. Base has number 6154& further handwriting in what looks like lead pencil- also there is a mark shaped a little like a xmas tree in shiny glaze- a further impressed mark can be seen by'scuff' mark(almost obscured) which happened when unfired clay contacted surface when it was made. Brightly colored shiny glaze contrasts beautifully with the pale blue interiors of the match& spill vases& pink spent match well. Looks like the similar glazes used by well known potteries. I will throw out a couple of names.Delphin Massier& Minton who used similar colorations to this.if u know.I sure would appreciate the knowledge. Vase has damages. 3 around pond edge- major one is the obvious one ... moreseen in photos- there are nibbles& nips in glaze around base some factory, others from use- duck has rough edge around tip of tail- there is a firing crack under base. Vintage Victorian ERPHILA Double Spill Vase with Parrot DECO Bavaria Lusterware
Early 1900's Erphila double spill vase with a parrot perched right in the middle. I just LOVE this piece! The vase part and base is done in a lusterware glaze with a very dark grayish blue border. The bird is a glossy blue and yellow macaw and his tail feathers sort of wrap around the bottom bar of the perch. This porcelain piece is marked Erphila Bavaria. We have estimated it to have been made in the 1920's-1930's but it could even be earlier than this as it has a very Victorian feel to it. It is in excellent condition even considering its age. We see no chips. Cracks or repairs. There is a line acrosee the back of the vase on the left which is a manufacturing flaw because it is glazed over with the original lusterware glaze. Overall. Antique Venetian Semi-Porcelain Blue Transfer Ware Water Lily Vase. Fancy embossed scrolling feather fan design around top edge. Middle and bottom. Light blue or gray background with blue transferware pattern on both sides of water lilies and pads. Beautiful lily pad flowers are very detailed. Top of vase is scalloped with lip on each side, bulbous middle and gets smaller at bottom. Marked on bottom with stamped mark that reads Venetian in a banner. Welcome to my ebay store! Here is a very pretty Victorian era original spill vase. Beautifully crafted. It is a girl sitting on a wood fence. She is nicely dressed in period clothing and hat reminiscent of French earlier style fashion as in Meissen figures. Her dress has little relief dots of pottery finished with gold lustre as her shoes. Very finely detailed hand painted face. On the back is the number 3542 incised in typically ornate European curly style numbering. If there was any marks on bottom such as red numbers, they are long since worn off. Similar pieces to this do have red numbers on bottom helping to id the maker. I am guessing this is a French or German porcelain piece. See all photos for description detail. Came from a large UK estate of porcelain figures I purchased. See my others on ebay. Early porcelain figural vase or possible a spill vase depicting a well dresser young girl holding a small black and white dog. The piece stands about 11in. high and looks to be in good condition excepting wear to the gold leaf which is normal on these pieces, it has very good details and nice bright colors typical of Old Paris pieces, it has no marks only a hand written number which is again not unusual with these pieces, if you collect antique Victorian vases or figures this is a nice very unusual example and is guaranteed to be an old one.

Royal Wettina Small Yellow Spill Vase
This is a Royal Wettina small yellow spill vase or pitcher. The vase is 7 inches tall by 5 inches wide at the widest point. The bottom bears embedded numbers'07 92 49 however there is no maker mark. There are two firing flaws on this piece. One on the reverse which is like a porcelain pimple mark and also a divot in the front under the spout. The front floral lilac design is nicely hand painted with delicate moriage work. The reverse of the pitcher has an usual red leaf pattern. I think this piece was a factory discard. It has a bisque type glaze and doesn't have the traditional ornate feet of many Wettina pieces but I have seen Wettina with the same kind of bottom as this piece. This is a nice smaller accent piece and a little bit of porcelain history! This is a wonderful gorgeous very RARE and SIGNED(marked) example of the spill vase work of the famous porcelain model artist Carl Schneider(who has worked closely with Unger and Hutschenreuther) It has the impressed mark G double arrow. With the DEP and no crown. dating it to 1879- 1886. It is a boy figurine with a blue hat and sash leaning on a set of three columns. Gold is splashed on his necklace, around the columns, and on the footers. There is some blue on the florals and footers as well. The top is open with deep pockets down each column to allow for the"spill" or match holder. Below is a description of a"Spill Vase" for those who are not familiar. This amazing German Pottery Spill Vase measures about 5-1/8" tall x 5-3/4" deep x 7-3/8" wide. It has a substantial chip to the back edge of the vase section as pictured. Antique Staffordshire Pottery Flat Back Figure of Couple Spill Vase In very good antique condition. Small losses of paint in various spots. Face paint is very good. General overall crazing as might be expected with a pottery item of this age. Small roughness on back of man's hat in one spot but is colored green as hat is- could be chip or manufacturing error; I believe it to be an error in making but I am not expert. Could be some very minor loss within some of the small"curly" leafy areas; I only mention this for completeness as I cannot really see any loss even with a loop but these areas are always rough and difficult to assess. Vintage German art nouveau bisque porcelain women& flower spill vase which measures approximately 4 1/2" tall measuring from the base to the top of the women's head. It is approximately 4" wide. Vase is marked on the back with numbers as shown in one of our pictures. Condition- Flower has a little bit of a rough feel around the top rim, back of flower white part is a bit dirty looking as shown in our picture, not sure what could be used to clean it, inside of flower could use a cleaning also. Old Vieux Paris Porcelain Vase Spill Vase with Flowers and Bird c. 1850
Here's a French Victorian period vas or spill vase. C. 1850. Blue with white, and gold gilding. One side has colorful artwork painting of flowers, the other side has a painting of a bird. About 9 3/4" tall. Has overall wear to the gilding as you expect with old paris, and a scroll is broken off and missing from one of the handles, and there might be a small center scroll or other decoration missing from the bottom center on both the front and the back, but I can't be sure. A wonderful vase, perfect for putting water and flowers in, great for your kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, mantle, anywhere!

ANTIQUE SHELTON FAN, SPILL VASE, GOLD RIM, CREAM LUSTER, RUFFLED, ART DECO...
For your consideration. Is a beautiful fan/spill/ruffled vase impressed with"Shelton#29" on the bottom. This vase appears old and is made of a high gloss"cream-colored luster" The pictures look a little lighter. I think than the original. The little black spots feel like"bumps" in the ceramic/porcelain, and not cracks or holes. No crazing, scratches or chips. See pics for better descriptions) It was dirty and I had to clean it up quite a bit! I have researched this vase to no end. There are pottery places in NC(Seagrove) and Virginia. With apparent"Shelton" marks on them, but I didn't run across any as that that look like this signature. Shelton is a part of Staffordshire England. There are also several pottery/porcelain artists that were located there; late 1700's-1800's. John Ashbury of ... moreShelton. Was known for his Art Deco. John and Rebecca Lloyd were also Shelton Staffordshire pottery artists.many others; however.I can not find one piece of this pottery/porcelain signed"Shelton" anywhere. frustrating! So, obviously, I can't give you an approximate date. Sorry.if you know more, then please fill to chip in! At any rate. It is signed"Shelton 29" on the bottom. It is in great antique condition. There is some wear to the edges of the gold paint due to age and handling. I actually polished the gold and brought back a lot of color and shine.it was just dry, I guess.There is about 2 inches of gold paint from the rim and down inside. The exterior is a luster type finish in a cream color and looks pretty perfect. It really is an eye-catching little vase. It is 8.5" across& 3" wide. The base is 4" across and 2.25" wide. This is a very striking piece that will look beautiful for display or usage for whatsoever you desire! Thanks so much for looking! Fabulous Porcelain Spill Vase with Portrait and Beaded Gold Gilting
Photos don't do justice to this exquisite hand painted porcelain vase. A Greek key design encircles the upper edge and is overlaid by a woman's portrait on the front. A spill vase was usually kept on the mantel piece and was filled with rolled paper tapers or very thin wood sticks. Called spill. Spill was used to transfer fire from the fireplace to candles, lamps, or to light a cigar or pipe. This is an early and unsigned piece with gold gilt that is highly reflective against the matt background of the cream colored porcelain. No chips or cracks, minor wear to blue edge, small rub mark on back(see photo) Mid 19th century. Measures: 5-3/4" tall, 3-1/4" dia at base, 4-1/4" dia at top.

Made in Germany sometime between 1850 and 1899. The body is hand painted with a Dresden Pattern. There is a large polychrome floral spray on one side and a small sprig on the other. The pieces stand 6-1/2" high with a width of 5" the diameter of the base is 3-1/2" The base is marked with the Blue Crossed Swords. Both vases are in very good pre-owned condition, there is some usage wearing on the edges of each base, light handling wear to the gilt rim edging in various spots and a very small chip on the bottom edge just beneath the gilt rim. Offered for the discerning collector is this fabulous antique Victorian French majolica spill vase or match safe. A spill holder or a"Spill" is a vase or holder used to hold spills which are slivers of wood. A twist of paper or a spiral of wood shaving used to light a fire or a wall light during the 1700's and 1800's. Matches were few and far between and were expensive.
