Mainly known as a ceramic designer and as the artistic leader of the Gustavsberg porcelain factory. Kåge studied decorative painting at Tekniska skolan in Stockholm and later for the painter Carl W. Wilhelmson in Gothenburg. Johan Rodhe in Copenhagen and at Plakatschule in Munich, where he learnt graphic techniques. His early career was dedicated to advertising and the production of posters. But his best known work was in ceramics, begun when he was appointed artistic leader of Gustavsberg in 1917, remaining there until 1949, when he was succeeded by Stig Lindberg. The focus of Kåge's early ceramic designs. As of much of Swedish design of this period was on practical solutions to social issues, an example of which was his Praktika(1933) a simply designed and stackable set of tableware aimed at working-class families.Praktika was a commercial failure, as the intended buyers preferred more traditional and ornate products. Vintage Jade Green Glazed Ceramic Vase
This is a lovely vintage/antique jade green vase. We're not sure as to the age; it does have some crackling of the glaze on the bottom and inside. The crackling has turned yellow with age. It has a very simple design to it. It is small at the base and opens to a wide mouthed opening. The only decoration on it are what appear to be small curved leaves on the sides. The glaze appears to have worn off slightly around the lip of the opening. There are numerous tiny nicks on the inside and a few on the outside of the mouth. But they do not take away from the visual appearance of the piece. The only mark we could find was the capital G engraved on the bottom.

Oriental Blue Glazed Ceramic Vase with Signature
This vase is 8 1/2 inches tall. 4 3/4 inches wide across the top and 20 inches around at its widest part. It was purchased in China during or just after WW2. It is a nice solid piece. Weighing 3 pounds. It has no chipped areas. The base is a bit discolored and there is a slight crack on the bottom edge that is noticeable only if you look carefully. The crack is about 1/2 inch in length.
