Meissen Augustus Rex Hand Painted Bottle Form Porcelain Vase - Circa 1720
Fresh from a local estate is a beautiful circa 1720 Meissen porcelain bottle form vase bearing the"AR" Augustus Rex mark. The vase has a hand painted and gilt courting scenes on both sides with two floral panels against a stark yellow background. This bottle neck vase measures 9 1/8" tall and has a very bulbous 6 1/4" wide body. Very exquisite polychrome enameling on both of the courting scenes. There is gilt scrollwork that separate the different motifs and decorate the top and bottom of the vase. It is in excellent condition for its age. But does have a very clean professional repair at the spout(see pictures) Still very displayable. A wonderful early vase for any collection. Pictures should tell the story. Antique Pair Meissen German Porcelain Vase Urn Handpainted Flowers Dresden
This is a lovely pair of Meissen porcelain handled vases. They are white with handpainted colorful bouquets on either side. There was gold gilt as well however most of it is worn away. One vase has no chips or repairs however the other has one handle broken and one side of the bottom base has been repainted on the flat part. Only one side. Both are first quality with no scratch marks and measure 8 1/4 inches high by 5 1/4 inches wide. Beautiful for the collector! This vase with the precious cherubs and the garden scene's on each side is a favorite of mine. The cherubs are very exquisitely carved/molded and detailed. Along with all the various flowers, leaves, buds, and flower petals. I brought this vase to an appraiser at an antique shop to find out what the make of this lovely vase is and who the maker is. And the appraiser stated that it is Meissen and an antique. I do not know the exact year or much more than that about this antique. I want to point out that I am still not truly sure still about the make because I have seen the same type of marks made by other factory's in Germany showing a time period between 1887- 1900.
