Stunning Art Nouveau Alphonse Mucha Inspired German Bonn Porcelain Hand Painted Maiden Portrait Vase. C.1890-1910. This is a beautiful porcelain vase. The front portrait is hand painted with a lovely Art Nouveau maiden. The portrait is framed within Nouveau period scroll work of white enamel and is artist signed"H. Wicharz" The body of the vase is hand painted with landscape scene and floating florals. The vase is marked on the base with design numbers and has a half impressed Franz Anton Mehlem oval mark. Which pre-dates the more familiar Royal Bonn, Germany marks. c. 1870-1920. The vase is in wonderful condition, no chips or cracks. There is no age crazing. There are a few tiny areas where the enameling is scratched/rubbed- minor and mentioned for accuracy of listing. There is normal gilt wear a the top rim. Photos show detail ... morewell. This grandiose and beautiful lidded portrait urn is from workshop of Franz Anton Mehlem of Bonn, Germany, circa 1870. This is a wonderful and richly coloured Pompadour rose pink vase embellished with elaborate ornamentation in the classical manner of the mid 1800's. Using magnificent bands of exquisite polychrome hand-painted decoration. Possessing delicate floral encrusted and gilt handles. The body of this urn features a portrait MASTERPIECE of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, exquisitely painted in fine detail and set in a gilded cartouche which has been signed by the artist(P. Juhmer) At the back, a flourish of gilded flowers and musical instruments in heavy impasto gilt are sensationally ... moredisplayed. Four miniature gilt florets frame each side of the body, both front and back. This is a beautiful Saint Christopher Portrait Vase. Signed by artist, Dominick Campana. Signed works by this excellent professional artist are hard to come by. It was referred to as a Pickard vase, but it is not marked Pickard. Campana worked for Pickard for 2 years, 1902-03, but then went on to start his own studio: Dominick Campana Studio in Chicago. The piece is on a Limoges slip. His distinctive signature“Camp” is clearly at the 5 o’clock position on the piece. Someone described it as“his unmistakable style of blending colors” and indeed the colors are beautifully done. A photo doesn’t completely show the luster and richness of the piece. He was an immigrant from Italy and had a fine arts degree from a school in Venice. He also taught seminars at the Chicago Art Institute. The vase is a canteen shape. It measures 9” high, and 7” wide ... moreat the handles. The circle section of the vase is 6.75” in diameter. The circle is 2.25” in depth, and the depth where the legs support it is 3.25” The opening at the top is about 3.25” W and 3” D. It is in excellent condition. There are no cracks, or chips. There is slight wear on the gold leaf at the front of the legs, and handle. There are a few tiny pinprick points that are not visible to the eye, and appear to be something original to the piece, perhaps from the firing. The piece last changed hands in 1995, and has an invoice from an antique dealer in Illinois, describing it as a“Portrait vase by Dominic Campana(a Pickard artist 1902-1903) It sold then for $550. A signed Lion plaque by the same artist recently sold on Ruby Lane for $6,500.

Signed Richter, decorated at Donath Porcelain studio. The subject is"Echo. The entire vase is beautifully executed with a wonderfully detailed portrait. It is cylindrical shaped with a fluted neck. The miniature vase measures 4½" tall by 2½" in diameter. The vase is heavily gilded with raised gold and pale blue enamel beads. The oval reserve contains a handpainted portrait entitled"Echo. The artist's signature. Richter, appears in the lower left of the portrait. The base is marked on the bottom over the glaze with the name of subject. Echo, the blue bindenschild or"beehive" mark, and the name of the decorating studio, ... moreDonath. There is also a gold flower over the glaze which appears to cover the mark of the actual manufacturer of the vase itself. This was a common practice at that time. There are also some gold inventory numbers along the edge of the base. Based on the subject matter, style, and the absence of the country of origin, the vase probably dates to the 1875- 1893 time period. The style and decorating studio suggest this vase was manufactured and/or decorated in Germany. I guarantee this vase to be 100% authentic. Over 100 years old, and completely hand painted(not a transfer) MEASUREMENTS: 4½" x 2½ CONDITION: The vase is in EXCELLENT condition with NO chips. Cracks, scratches or repairs. The gilding appears to be completely intact with no missing areas or noticeable wear; however, I noted 3 missing or incomplete raised gold beads at the bottom to the left of the reserve, and 1/2 of a raised blue enamel bead missing on the back of the vase.
