These vases date to circa the 1860s-1870s. These are large double-handled vases. The vases are beautifully hand-painted. Featuring a detailed scene of a peacock on a balcony. In the background of the scene is a peaceful river and trees. The scenes are mirrored, meaning this is a true pair and the peacocks will face one another when displayed side by side. The reverse of the vase is more simply painted, with blue flowers, realistically rendered. The vases have hand-gilded details, around the rim, base and handle, and thickly bordering the peacock scene. Above and below the scene are intricately hand-gilded patterns, scrolls above and Greek key-esque ... morepattern below. These are very impressive pieces, the photos really don't do them justice. This pair is in great overall condition. There is some wear to the paint of the handles. Especially the tips, but this is not very noticeable. There is some wear to the gilding around the base, predominantly at the corners. There are no chips, no cracks, and no repairs. Each vase is approximately 11 1/4 inches tall. This week we are proud to offer this truly awesome antique- a fabulous Paris Porcelain vase which stands 13" tall to the rim and sports a 6" diameter waist. We are dating it to the mid 1850's only because of its provenance. But it might actually be an 18th Century treasure. As with most 18th C Paris Porcelains, it is not signed or marked on the bottom, and the gilding is slightly worn in spots from handling. But overall, we have never seen a piece of this age in better condition. There are no chips, cracks or restorations and the artwork has been marvelously preserved. The base bears the unique geometric line mark utilized by artists at the famous Porcelain de Paris decorating company. The rue de la Pierre-levee factory came under the direction of Robert Bloch in 1914 and he was responsible for the revitalization of the company and the establishment of a new factory 200 miles south of Paris. This vase has an elegant design with clean lines to the classically inspired form. The upper urn portion and squared base are done in bright white porcelain and joined with the original bolt connector. The hand painting shows rich color and nice detail to the stylized floral medallions and geometric/ diamond array ground. The décor is highlighted ... morewith extensive gold enamel(feathered bands and border rings) which show rich patina and essentially no wear. The vase measures 9" high and 3 5/8" across the top rim. ON SALE! Antique tall Old Paris porcelain vase with hand-painted flowers
With a cobalt blue ground and a huge multi-color scene of flowers and drapes. This Old Paris(or Porcelaine de Valentine) is 21 3/4" high and in very good condition. The porcelain of the town of Valentine is produced in a factory near the French Pyrenees since the early 1800's. Its designs are very similar to the Old Paris ones, but the cobalt blue is a constant as to colors. Here in the USA, the porcelain Valentine is not very well known, and many of its pieces are generally attributed to Old Paris. To complicate matters, Valentine as well as Old Paris porcelains are usually unsigned and unmarked. Diameter at the bottom: 6 1/4" Diameter at the mouth of the vase: 7 1/2" The vase presents loss of gilt(see photos) and at the bottom there seems to be a crack from the firing that doesn't affect anything in the vase, neither ... morestructurally nor aesthetically. Some previous owner tried to hide the crack by covering it with a brown paste of sorts.

These very handsome vases measure 16 ¾ inches or 42 cm high. And are 9 inches or 23 cm wide at the top rim. These beautiful vases have a light blue ground along the back and around the foot of the vases. The vases have large hand painted floral cartouches at the front and center flanked with hanging floral vines with heavy applied gold highlights. The top rims of the vases are flared with bas relief foliate designs in gold. The vases are done with excellent attention to detail and are very beautiful and stately. It is more expensive but worth it for your and my protection as EXPERIENCE has shown this to be the safest way to ship fragile items. The cost between Priority and Parcel Post under 5 pounds is insignificant. If over 10 pounds I generally ship UPS as safest way to go. Additionally I pack and wrap things very well to insure safe arrival. This is for a pair of Old Paris Empire porcelain spill vases. These are small for spill vases but certainly could be as such things sat on mantels in the 19th century and earlier before matches were made. The spill vases may need some explanation. They were small tubular vases that sat on mantles and held small wooden splints or paper cones all called ... morespills. They were used to light candles and lamps and the spill would be lit at the fireplace. Often there was another receptacle to hold the used spill and of course could be thrown in the fireplace too. They could of course be used as small bud vases. These Empire style pieces have a Napoleonic flair with the disc pedestal and the lions paw feet. The details of the two ribs near the top and at the bottom and in addition the gently flaring lip are all those used during this period in the French decorative arts. The hand painting is lovely and handled in a very free manner but not loose either. These are exceptional pieces in outstanding physical condition with all the earmarks of one of the better Old Paris makers. These are unmarked except for a couple of glazers marks a C and an M. Two handles are gilded as well as the base and the neck. Original screws hold the base and urn together. Found this in the attic. where it has been for over 40 years) and it was originally a pair, but the other was crushed to pieces. I believe there are minor imperfections from age; I found one on the lady's arm and another by the tree on the other side(see last two photos) At least that's what I believe they are. It has an incised date on base which reads 9/2/96 which was manufactured in the year 1896 These vases were made from two molds joined together at the sides. Made in the late 1800's to early 1900's. They sat on the fire mantelpiece and held twisted pieces of tightly twisted paper which were used as tapers. OLD PARIS PORCELAIN VASE W/ HAND PAINTED ROMANTIC COURTING SCENE & ORMOLU MOUNTS
Up for auction is this gorgeous Old Paris Porcelain French antique vase with gold painted ormolu handles and base. The vase is highlighted with a hand painted romantic courting scene of a gentleman in late 18th or early nineteenth century clothes talking to a woman. In similar period clothing, who is holding a basket of flowers, The man, who has his hand in his upper shirt opening(a la Napoleon! is leaning against a large, leafy tree. Surrounding this scene is Art Nouveau inspired raised gold jeweled patterns with some pink highlights throughout and along the top. On the other side of the vase and along the bulbous bottom circumference of the piece are several multicolored floral groupings. The vase is cased on the top with gold painted metal ormolu top and handles, and, along the bottom, a three footed ormolu base. These ormolu mounts, possibly ... morebronze, are Art Nouveau inspired! The vase measures about 7 1/2 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide at tallest and widest points. The piece, as all Old Paris Porcelain, is not marked. If we had to guess, we would date the piece to the early 1800's. The piece is in very nice shape with no chips, cracks or crazing. Colors are clear and bright. Some minor staining on the interior of the vase(very minor! commensurate with the antique age of the piece. A very small flaw on the upper edge of the vase, mostly covered by the metal top handle mount and definitely in the manufacturing of the piece and not damage of any kind! We must stress that this flaw is extremely minor, very hard to see(even with a magnifying glass! and only mentioned for complete accuracy! A great piece in great shape offered with NO RESERVE! This lamp has everything you want in a fine old Paris, France porcelain lamp. Arrow socket with GE bakelite paddle knob. Rewired with gold cloth cording. This piece is hand painted on both sides by Sevres artist E. Debonneville and signed on one cartouche. One scene depicts two putti or cherubs perched in an idealized garden with a bird's nest and a bird house. On the other side is also a hand painted garden featuring a sachet atop a book with bows and boughs of greenery and posies. They have the same platform bottoms which are also scalloped with lots of gold on them and. All over the vases, They are signed with the letter L(only one vase is) and next to it is a 2 which I assume means two vases. I did heavy research on these items and there was an L signature exactly like the one on the vases by an artist named Lassia who worked in Paris in the 18th century. His works are very similar to these items. I am not a porcelain expert-my greater expertise is in the area of 18th and 19th century paintings and sculpture as well as early 20th. ... moreSo. I certainly will not take the liberty of saying these are from the 18th century. I am learning a lot however and am on information overload. By the way I have several Paris vases in my collection which I inherited from my 107 year old aunt who was an avid collector and spent endless hours telling me about her collection which I now have. The one thing I do know is their approximate age which is around 1850. They have lost the free free flowing style of romanticism and are more Victorian in design. Perfect in the way they are fashioned. Every stroke of paint is carefully planned and they look like they come from a museum or a grand London town house. They are the cutest thing! Within a cartouche. Hand-painted Egyptians in their traditional garb, in a scene with pyramids and palms in the background. In the back, a bird in flight. A very rare size, for they are 4 3/4" high, 2 3/4" wide, and 2" deep. In perfect condition. Returns are not accepted.
