The vase dates to the first year of Sevres general production 1753-1754. It measures 18 1/2 or 47 cm high. It measures 11 inches or 28 cm wide at the handles. The base is marked with the Sevres mark with an"A" and an impressed"H" The vase is beautifully decorated and Sevres used a variety of techniques to achieve this decorative beauty. The body and the foot of the vase are connected by a bolt and long stud. The gilt bronze ormolu base is also held to the vase by the same means. The reserve in the back of the vase is a basket filled with roses hanging from a purple ribbon. This reserve has a hand painted leaf and berry border. The background of the vase and foot are in Sevres Celeste blue and white. The design is cleverly done with white and applied gold dots simulating a field of flowers. The top of the vase is fluted and scalloped and has much applied gold. The condition overall is excellent and the bronze foot is original to the vase. Both ends of the handles show old restoration. This restoration is limited to the very ends of the handles and does not extend to the body of the vase or the rest of the handles. A beautiful example of early Sevres porcelain work. 10" PORCELAIN VASE/RED MACAW PARROTS ON BRANCH IN SEVRES? STYLE/GOLD HANDLES
Up for auction is a beautiful old porcelain urn Sevres style vase with a pair of red Macaw Parrots on the front perched on a branch with buds on it. The front also has a W. on it. It is in very good condition without any cracks. Chips or dings however there are 2 very tiny less than 1 cm surface scratches on the blue body in the back lower portion(they are in the 4th picture on the right side if you look hard 2" from the top and 1/4" in on the vase) The gold on the top lip edge of the vase has some areas where the gold is worn off. I don't know too much about this vase other than it is old. The dimensions are: 10" tall x 4" diameter at the top opening of the vase and the bottom base of the vase is 4-1/4" in diameter. Very decorative European porcelain basket or a vase. The main color is deep-deep cobalt blue with bright decorations. The basket and the decor are in perfect shape- I haven't noticed any rubbed off decor which could be expected for the type of item. No chips. Cracks or crazing. There is a minor production problem- one spot on the base is missing the glaze- almost invisible when the basket is standing right up. The excess of the glaze has been shaved off to achieve perfect footing of the basket. There are no markings I can detect. But this is not a new item. It is 8 and 1/2' H x 7 and 1/2' W(max) and 4' deep. It weights 610 g. I would expect $12-$30 shipping to Canada and the US. SEVRES PORCELAIN 29" PALACE VASE WITH LION MASKS, A gorgeous 19th Century French Sevres handpainted porcelain vase with lid. The front of the vase is decorated with a handpainted raised gold gilded cartouche depicting instruments of archery and the reverse of the vase is again decorated with another raised gold gilded cartouche depicting musical instruments. The vase is then accented by gold gilded lion mask handles and fitted with a foliate designed cover with bronze finial. The porcelain body of the vase sits on a bronze base. The base is solid bronze and weighs about five pounds. The bronze base has a rod that fits through the body of the vase. The vase is in excellent condition. No wear to the paintings on the vase. There is a small gold touch-up on one of the lion's nose. About the size of a pea. It is hand painted wirh gilt flowers and borders in a diaper pattern. Marked on the underside with the faux blue crossed"L's" of King Louis. It measures 12-1/2" tall by 5-1/2" diameter. Poor condition: hole in the side with crack up and down from it, another large"U" shaped crack on another side.

It has a Sevres style blue ground- it's a lovely color. Pl ease excuse the reflections in the pictures. SIZE: The vase is just under 13 inches tall. It weighs just under 4 pounds. CONDITION: There is a small chip on the rim- the pen is pointing to this in the close up picture. There is some wear to the gold and there are some black marks on the matte blue ground.
