Antique 19th Century Gien French Majolica Faience Vase Florentine Griffins Rare
This is a truly stunning little vase. From the Gien Factory in France and I believe that this is an early mark. I believe at least 19th Century. It has the most ornate Florentine style design. Including two Griffins on the base. Heavy enamel type hand painted decoration. The detail throughout is outstanding. The dark ground colour really makes the designs"pop" Paint is still all bright and vivid. Sadly at one point in its life. It must have been dropped, as it looks as if the neck has been broken and repaired. One can see a glue line and a small chip around the middle. See all of my pictures for details of the condition. I feel sure that this could be restored to a much higher standard and given the quality of the item, could certainly be worthwhile. Starting at a low asking price, due to the aforementioned condition problem. Size ... moreis approximately 4 1/4" tall. DRASTICALLY REDUCED!

Longton, Staffordshire. He took additional premises in Church Street. These he shortly afterwards took down, and built upon their site a new manufactory– the Phoenix Works, which he completed in 1879. In the beginning of 1883 he took his sons into partnership and the company name was changed to Thomas Forester& Sons LTD. The items produced at the Pheonix Works were of a varied character in both useful and ornamental classes. And included vases of unique design and of various sizes. Flowering'a la Barbotin' was carried on to a large extent. Mr. ... moreForester also introduced various articles of cabinet ware in vases, jardinières, etc. made with Barbotin flowerwork on tortoiseshell and marble grounds. One of the productions of merit is the life- size St. Bernard's dog on a large pedestal, three feet six inches in height, which was modelled by Gallimore from a prize dog. The company went out of business in 1959. The feat ured item represents a porcelain vase that measures approximately 8 3/4" tall. 5 1/4" at the widest points at the opening and 3 1/2" at the bottom. The prime color of the piece is white. It is decorated with dark blue flowers design and different blue shades and gilt highlights. The body of the vase is double pinched at each side. At the top and the bottom. The top pinching goes all the way to the lips so the opening is shaped into a scalloped square. There are two handles on the side in the shapes of twisted tree branches with gilt highlight as well. The bottom of the vase is inscribed with"Foresters" and a mark that I cannot completely make. If you look at it from different angles it could be letter"K" or"X" There is also a blue stamp that reads"PH

Antique St CLOUD Faience Vase, c.1880-1900, Urn Form, Pansies Floral Design
This is a St. Cloud Faience vase in a classic urn shaped form. It has a beautifully hand painted floral design of White and Blue Pansies. The bouquet of pansies has a darker brown color glaze in the background that fades to a gorgeous golden brown that covers most of the rest of the piece. It also has a sweet single pansy on the back with the golden brown as the back ground. The bottom of the vase has ST CLOUD in ink under the glaze along with a stylized R or B that I believe is the painters mark. It is also impressed with the letters P. O,and B along withe the number 1587. It measures 12 3/4'h x 8" w a the shoulder and 4 3/4" at the rim. It has a 1' x 1/2" chip along the rim and a very fine crack in the body to the left of the main design(image# 12) There is a glaze imperfection along the shoulder. To the right of ... morethe upper flower, on the reverse design(image#8) It also has a couple of flea bites along the shoulder(image# 11) some minimal glaze loss Image# 10) and a fine crazing in the glaze which is to be expected in a piece of Faience of this age. I believe that the chip could be easily repaired by a professional, but will leave that decision up to the buyer. This vase is not perfect but it is a gorgeous example of Faience in a classic form. The only other example that I could find in my research was a ST CLOUD. Faience Vase in the same urn shape with a floral design of roses, and it has an asking price of $1560.00. My girlfriend is an artist and tells me it is much more difficult to paint pansies as opposed to roses. In my opinion this is a much nicer design and is well worth my starting price of $390.00. This vase would make a great gift for any collector of Faience, Pansies, Urn Form Vases, etc. We here at classantiquesetc strive for the MOST accurate description and images of all our pieces. Please check all images with the magnifier before bidding. As they are part of the description. We would also request that any questions about a piece be emailed to us before bidding. All sales a

French Faience 15.5" hand painted armorial vase w blue fleur de lis and ribbon
I have for you this evening a very beautiful example of French Faience pottery made by an unknown maker to me. My expertise is in 17th and 18th century porcelain and even though I have done much research to figure out the maker of this piece I have been unable to so much of the item description is based on my personal opinion about the piece. This piece appears to be made from very nice grade clays and has been thrown into an Old Paris body design with footed base resembling majolica. This piece has been fully hand painted with flowers and is an armorial piece with a blue ribbon by which hangs a floral medalion containing a blue fleur de lis. This piece is large and impressive and will make a beautifull addition to any collection and will look lovely no matter how you choose to display it. Item dimensions and dating: All measurements are ... moreapproximate. This vase measures 15.5" tall and I believe it to date from the 19th century by the marks and design elements. Item condition report: This piece is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. There are possibly ten or so nicks around the base on the feet and around the rim that are very minor and there may be fine line crazing but nothing that affects the value adversely. The colors are fresh and vibrant. This piece displays beautifully. I do not charge any handling fees and I will combine shipping whenever possible. I allow returns but only under the conditions stated herein so please read before bidding. Please take the time to peruse my inventory as I am an avid collector so you never know what you might find. Please also note that all items come to me second hand so I do my best to research the information and to state it accurately and to list the item condition to the best of my ability. I personaly handle all my items and do the research and packing myself as well. Happy bidding and good luck: NOTE: International buyers. All purchased items will be given the proper name and pricing on all shipping and customs forms.
