Measuring a towering 14 inches high by 8 inches wide including handle. The strong neoclassical shape is accented with detail molded handles lavishly gilt. And a border on the upper half of the vase and base with very fine pate sur pate decoration on a cobalt background. The art of Pate sur pate has been all but abandoned on English porcelain with only a handful of artisans worldwide being skilled in the art. Extremely time consuming, the artist carefully builds of layers of the paste(opaque glaze) upon layer of layer to create an almost transparent ghost white decoration. This antique bowl/vase of porcelain bisque pate sur pate measures 4" high and 4" wide. It is in excellent condition. Green and white jasper type. Marked on the base 2171(I think, it is hard to decipher) The most charming and distinct porcelain decoration of the nineteenth century' is how pate-sur-pate was described by the ceramist Willaim Burton in 1902. Its cameo-like effect was achieved by applying successive layers of thin slip in delicate gradations and by fine carving with modelling-tools. Finished off with a brush. The process. Which was time consuming, was first tried at the Imperial manufactory of Sevres about 1849. Some examples were shown at the Great Exhibition in London in 1852 and quickly attracted attention. Unusual Pate Sur Pate Jasperware Type Antique Pottery Spill Holder
This antique Spill Vase measures about 3-3/4" tall and about 2-1/8" in rim diameter. The vase has quite unusual subject matter including a lady with a parasol. A destitute mother and baby, and an"oriental" male figure that appears to be. The glaze does have some manufacturers flaws as pictured, but it is otherwise in excellent condition. My guess is it dates to the first half of the 19th century. it could be a bit later or earlier. It is an old piece.

A beautiful pair of antique. Circa 1870's, French Neo-Grec covered urns, bolted construction. The porcelain bodies have a celadon surface decorated in white pate-sur-pate with pair of quail and grain stalks, a different pair to each side. The interior of the urns are inserted with a cast iron cylinder to use as vases. The urns are mounted in gilt bronze, the bases on paw feet and with palmette pendants, the looped handles also with palmettes. The lids are bronze with Classical flutings and artichoke knobs. They measure 14-1/4" tall by 8" wide at handles. The one urn is excellent condition: not damaged, rust to the iron insert vase. The other urn has a vertical crack to the porcelain body, and with a small hole there, rust to the iron insert vase. The beautiful pair is for one ptice.

RARE FREDERICK A RHEAD SIGNED PATE SUR PATE POTTERY VASE by WOOD and SONS 6 1/4"
Gorgeous. Rare Pate Sur Pate( paste on paste) porcelain bud vase by Wood and Sons with signature by Frederick A Rhead who was Art Director, master potter and a prolific pottery designer at Wood and Sons form 1912 to 1929. Many designs and pieces are attributed to F A Rhead but very few have an engraving or signature of his name. Design was a series of Pate Sur Pate of flower, foliage and stem in blue and green on white. Bottom stamp, rim and key design in gold tone. Vase measures 6 1/4" tall by 2 7/8" at rim and 2 1/8" at bottom. Two vases of same series and design were sold at auction in England at Woolley and Wallis Salesroom in 2011 and can be seen on their website at woolleyandwallis.co.uk. Condition is excellent as there is no chips or cracks. Colors are vivid and vibrant. Crazing is extremely minimal and would be expected ... moreon a very heavy glaze piece such as this. Heubach Pate sur Pate Vase -Very Fine Detail- Goddess and Putti with Fish
This is a finely detailed Pate-sur-Pate Gebruder Heubach Porcelain Vase. With a beautiful scene of a Putti with a fish, showing it to a Goddess like female. Excellent German Gold Gilt Victorian Royal Pate Sur Pate Porcelain Vase
This listing is for a fantastic Royal Pate Sur Pate Vase. It measures about 9.5" tall. The foot has one chip but it is otherwise in fine condition. The vase is beautifully gilt around the whole vase however there is only pate sir pate on one side of the vase as pictured. I do believe the chip on the foot of the vase could be quite easily restored. It is a lovely piece.
