I fell in love with this vase at an antique shop in New England(Vermont) in 1977. It is a stupendous work of art pottery. Towering at 17" tall with 8" diameter at its widest point. The sheer size, along with its artistry, is attention-grabbing. Depicted are roses, grapes, grape leaves, and tendrils. What is particularly distinctive are the raised designs, hand-done tube linings with intertwined stems and tendrils in typical art nouveau fashion. Much of the raised design and the central grape cluster is gilded. There are several lines of beads along the top- in short, there is a lot of detail work. Condition: No chips or cracks; however. There are a number of blemishes, some color off spot as shown. I don't know if some could be cleaned up. I never tried, as I only displayed the vase from the front. Art Nouveau Royal Bonn Ceramic Vase
A bold Art Nouveau design with its artfully spiraling and reticulated"vine" all sumptuously gilded. Expertly decorated with a hand-painted bouquet of multicolored asters or daisies. The maker is Poppelsdorf or F.A Mehlem factory. Franz Anton Mehlem was the father of the two founders. Paul and Everard Mehlem. There are several marks: The first being the red Royal Bonn stamp. With"Royal" above and"Bonn" underneath the crest. This mark was used from about 1890- 1920(the other markings indicate it is most certainly at the earlier end of that range) Notice in the photos the rather indistinct initials"F.A.M" in the monogram under the crown these are for the father Franz Anton. The second being the impressed Anton Mehlem circle mark used so that the undecorated'blanks' could be identified. Above the ... morecircle is the impressed number"2" with the letter"i" off to the right. The third being the numbers 1152/2. 4, 3099 written in red- these letters and numbers refer to the pattern, the shape and the decorator. The fourth being the impressed large numbers 6 5 9 This beautiful vase is over a hundred years old and from that period of Royal Bonn's output when artistic creativity was at its finest. The condition is remarkable. With almost zero wear to the gold. At 17" tall(8“ diameter at widest) this is an imposing piece that I'm sure will make quite an impact wherever it is placed. Up for Auction is this Very Art Nouveau Ceramic Vase in Cream and Green. It has two Nude women sitting Backs against the vase and measures 5" tall by 4 1/2" Wide at the Base. It has no chips or breaks but the glaze on the women is crazed and has cracks. I am not familiar with glazing of this period to know if it is supposed to be like this. Exceptional and rare Bretby Art Pottery Art Nouveau vase in the Clanta line. Produced circa 1915. The vase is Art Nouveau with a touch of Arts& Crafts. Brown-black and bronze. It has 8 panels, each finished with a medallion, and embossed riveting on the sides and top. 1 7/8" round opening at top. Vase is 10.5" tall and approximately 5.5" wide.
