Each design is hand appliqued. Using a tiny blind stitch, onto a 15" block. This is a summer quilt with no batting and minimal quilting. The quilting is done only around the outer edge of each block. Hand quilted at 7 stitches per inch. Binding was formed by folding front to back and hand stitching. Size is 64" x 76"+/ There are scattered small stains and wear along the edge. VINTAGE/ANTIQUE RED WHITE & BLUE PATCHWORK QUILT- 62"x80" - HANDMADE in MISSOURI
This is an auction for a VINTAGE/ANTIQUE RED WHITE& BLUE PATCHWORK QUILT- 62"x80" HANDMADE in MISSOURI. The majority of the 3 1/2" finished blocks are made of vintage cotton fabrics mainly red. White, blue in color- but there are a few blocks of greens, yellows. browns also in the quilt. The backing& edging are done in white cotton and the filling appears to be a white flannel(lightweight) The quilt is EXTREMELY OLD. Although I do not know the exact date of when it was made. It was my grandmother-in-law's quilt and she was born in 1901. My husband remembers her having this quilt& just knows that it something that she made. And obviously lovingly used. She lived her entire life in the"Lead Belt" area of the state of Missouri, south of St. Louis. This quilt is completely hand quilted. But finished in ... morea machine stitched binding. The quilt is NOT IN PERFECT CONDITION. There are some stains. Some tears& rips, some missing binding on the edges. The back side is not in as good of condition as the front side. As some of the back fabric is well- worn and has deteriorated. I'm guessing that is why there appears to be an 8 1/2" binding( on one end of the quilt- maybe to reinforce the back side where the fabric was damaged. But why she would also put it across the front side I don't understand. Maybe it was meant to designate the head of the bed where the pillows were to lie on top. I'm not sure- the quilt blocks underneath that strip do not appear to be damaged. A mystery that will never be solved, as Grandma died years ago, before I had the quilt and could ask questions from her. There are no musty smells and it has always been in pet-free. Smoke-free homes. Check the pictures carefully to see where I have tried to picture some of the damages. I have not made any attempt to repair or clean it. Vintage textile patchwork quilt- late 1800's family heirloom- red/black- LOOK!!
This very nice and clean quilt has been in my family since it was created. I believe it is late 1800's to early 1900's and was made from very dated early textiles. The quilt is 74" x 76" 6'2" x 6'4" and is shown displayed/covering a queen sized bed. I think this is what is called a'9 patch' or'log cabin' quilt. It is constructed of 156 squares. Red/black adjoined diamonds make each square(each square is 6" and length runs 13 squares and width runs 12 squares. I have done my best to describe this quilt. Never washed appliqued cherry quilt from the 1930s era. It has expertly hand appliqued red cherries on nile green vines with nile green leaves. Quilted thought the entire quilt are beautiful cherry blossom flowers. There is a 1" full grid quilted across the quilt. On the back is a handsewn rod pocket for easy hanging to display on a wall. Pencil and faded pattern marks are still very visible on the light cream background(never washed) Very thin cotton batting. Expertly hand quilted at 7-8 stitches per inch. Up for auction is this lovely vintage 8 point star quilt top. Hand stitched. Each star is made from 8 triangle shaped quilt pieces. There are 28 full stars and 2 partial stars on each end. Stars are very pretty-nice made with good points-some puckering. Bright red sashing. There is some puckering along one of the red seams-pic#8. Last pic shows a damaged corner-looks like it got caught in the vacuum sweeper. Measures 86" long x 72" wide pictured on a queen size bed. A really beautiful quilt top. ANTIQUE OCEAN WAVES QUILT VINTAGE PRIMITIVE SHIRTINGS HAND QUILTED TURKEY RED
This is a beautiful antique. Primitive quilt. I believe it is a variation of the Ocean Waves pattern. If you know another name for it, please feel free to comment. The size is 72x76. It is pictured on a queen sized bed. It has been hand pieced and hand quilted, in a truly"make-do" fashion. Many of the triangles are, themselves, pieced. It is quilted with brown thread in single parallel lines, going the length(76" of the quilt. The quilting is utilitarian with long, widely spaced stitches, as this quilt is quite thick and heavy. It wouldn't surprise me if the"batting" is an even older worn out quilt. The fabrics are cotton. There are homespuns, shirtings and a couple of flannels. The backing is homespun. The binding was done by bringing the backing to the front and stitching it to the top. I will describe the condition ... moreas well as I can. There is some age fading of a couple of the red fabrics. There is a small paint smear on one square. There are a few repairs along some seams. There are a couple small holes in the border. It needs to be washed. These condition problems are minor. In my opinion, and do not distract from the overall impact and displayability of this quilt. The quilt and fabrics are still sturdy, and the colors are strong and vibrant. Please note. As stated above, this quilt is quite heavy. It weights 7 lbs. without box and packing) Also it is not from a non-smoking home, though I don't notice any odors.

This wonderful quilt looks like a garden in bloom! It is about 86" x 75" Back is the same unbleached muslin as the front background, nice and crisp. There are two spots that are barely noticeable, one is an ink mark toward the bottom of the quilt, the other is a water mark toward the top, there is also a water mark on the back, and there is a shade of soiling on the edge, I didn't wash, will leave to new owner if they think it is needed. It is machine quilted in a less than 1" diagonal square design, thin cotton batting, all cotton fabrics of course, no edge wear, no holes. An exceptional and stunning find! Vintage Antique Heavy Handmade Quilt Red & White Cotton & Daisy Back
This is a beautiful handmade quilt in red and white cotton. The pieces are machine stitched and yarn has been pulled through to tie. The back is a very pretty raised daisy design also in cotton. There are no rips or worn spots. Material is in great condition. I tried to take a photo of every spot I could find, some are very small and didn't show up too well. This quilt has not been laundered so the spots may come out. Also, the photo shows a bright red, it is a bright red bud not as florescent as the photo, the white is very white. This charming 9 patch quilt is very old! The pictures don't really do it justice. It features lots of early cotton prints on the front, the back is muslin. It is about 74 x 85" very thin cotton batting, hand pieced and hand quilted at about 8 stitches per inch, only 2 blocks have deteriorated fabric, easy to patch, if desired. It is in super nice condition overall, no holes or wear, there is a picture of one block that has some red dirt on it, I didn't try to clean since it was not distracting. Vintage Star Quilt - Dk red, hunter green, navy - strip quilted stars
This is a really pretty quilt- not an antique but one of those done back in the 60s- 80s when'country' was just beginning to come into its own and one of those that was hand quilted overseas(probably indonesia) for resale here in the States. There is hand quilting and looks like it is hand pieced. The quilting is about 5 stitches per inch. The stars are strip pieced- made of half inch strips stitched together in shades of green. Blue and/or red and then placed on white fabric- the squares measure 11 X 11" and there are 20 of them- five down and four across. They are separated by 2" wide hunter green fabric strips with red squares at each corner. There is a 8" border on the side and 10" borders on the top and bottom. CONCERNS: Not a lot- the last 3 pictures with my fingers in them are pointing to some tiny spots ... morewhere the seam needs to be restitched with a couple stitches and the last picture shows an area on the top border where the white stitching is a little loose but still attached. It has been laundered a few times but I don't see fading. I see no spots or stains- the backing is an off white cotton fabric and it is filled with fiberfill. A nice quilt to fold in your quilt cabinet. Foot of the bed, on the back of a couch or to repurpose. Still a lot of service left here. It is clean and I detect no odors. I have a new camera and am getting used to it! The yellow is not faded as the pictures seem to portray. The yellow is a"daffodil" yellow. The piecing is excellent with great points and corners. It is machine pieced. No tears or defects. It has never been washed and the fabric has good body to it. It measures 79 inches wide by 97 inches long. Each block is 14 inches square and the striped border of red and green strips is 9 inches wide. I purchased this top at an antique shop and am downsizing some of my quilt inventory.
