Pretty Antique Vintage HOUSETOP BLOCK Quilt- Charming Fabrics, Pretty housetop block design has a variety of pretty novelty cotton fabrics. Bright colors and framed in soft pinks and jade greens. The back is a buttery yellow and is brought to the front for the binding. Measures 76" x 62" Hand-quilted. I saw about 12 popped seams on the front. The main issue with this charming quilt are the light stains throughout. These are not all that obvious when first looking at quilt. There are several smaller darker stains. See pictures. But there are light stains on front and back. Therefore I am starting this one out at a cutter price due to the stains. Lots of character and a sweet vintage quilt!

The quilt block was hand stitched by Hattie Morris who lived in Rhode Island between the years 1861 and 1937. To preserve the block. It was professionally framed under non-glare glass. The figure is somewhat similar to Sunbonnet Sue. The triangular pieces in the corners have been hand basted and were left for future finishing. The figure was stitched onto yellow material, but I’m not sure what kind it is. Although the piece hasn’t been signed, her name is on the back of the frame. The other name and number is from entry into a quilt show. 2 SIDED Antique STAR & Patchwork Quilt BLOCK - Cutter Piece PC - 29 X 32" -
This lovely old quilt piece was cut from a quilt with some damaged areas. The quilt had a piece on the back that was just stitched on at the edges. When I opened it I found a very old quilt in side. It is a tied quilt. The star area was hand quilted just through the top layer of the back of the older quilt. The older quilt has very early tiny blue prints in it. Both were pieced by machine. It is in good condition except for splits in one block on the older side. It is clean, odor free and 29 by 32 inches. I am now listing many antique quilt and coverlet pieces and I am always happy to combine shipping.

The back is muslin also. Lots of sunny bright colors! The hand-quilting detail is fabulous. Simply beautiful! Measures 90 x 78. And hand-quilted. There are several light stains on the front along with on the back. Also. Two small tears. These are not noticeable until closer inspection. No loose seams. Antique folk art 1880s crazy quilt block in old frame
Here we have a unique folk art find: An antique American silk and velvet crazy quilt sampler single square block. Circa 1880s, with turkey track stitching. Seems to have been framed in 1969 and never opened since then. All pieces appear to be silk except for the one black banana shaped piece which is appears to be velvet. Stitched images include a white flower(cotton plant? A yellow flower(or corn cob? and a small flying bird. Wow! There is also an unusual and faded naïve ink drawing of a young girl with a bonnet and long dress drawn on the grey patch.possibly the artist herself? The piece is sealed inside a solid wood frame with glass. There is an old ink stamp on reverse of frame that reads that the piece was framed at 66 Washington Street in Marblehead Massachusetts by John G. Osborne Sr. and the date 1969. There also seems to be ... morean old handwritten price of $10.00 which may have been a good deal back then. The frame measures about 12-1/2” square and the exposed image measures about 8-3/4” square. Excellent condition overall. The antique sample square appears to have a couple small areas of soiling or staining…no unusual wear. Not examined out of frame. Antique LOG CABIN BLOCK Vintage Quilt ~ Sunshine and Shadows ~ This antique Log Cabin quilt is such a neat one with the white sunshine running through! Design is full of lots of vibrant colors. An large assortment of beautiful feed sacks and 1930's cotton prints make an outstanding combination together. The back is a nice floral"cheater" and has been brought to the front for the binding. Lots of small pieces of fabric went into the making of this one. Measures 76" x 66" Hand- quilted. The main issue with this one is the tear at edge of quilt. It measures about 5" Nothing that cannot be easily mended. And hardly noticeable with it being at edge of quilt. And several popped seams. Also, some light stains scattered here and there. Still in great antique vintage condition! Please keep in mind that these are vintage ... moreand antique quilts. So there may be some small loose seams and some age related stains. Antique vtg Primitive Blazing Star Quilt Block c1860-80 Hand-Pc'd LAST ONE
Antique Vintage Primitive BLAZING STAR Quilt Block a.k.a. SUNFLOWER or SUNBURST also called NOONDAY. c.1860-80 CIVIL WAR ERA or earlier. This was bought from a Lancaster County. Pennsylvania antique dealer in the 1990's. Size: The quilt block is approx. 13 inches square or 19" on point as in pix#8. The Blazing Star circle is 10 inches across and the Chrome Yellow center circle is 4.5 inches across. The 16 WHITE diamonds are 2.5" long. This pattern is difficult to piece and it is beautifully sewn by HAND very precisely by an expert. Color: POISON GREEN is the 13.5" background block. After the CHROME YELLOW center of the STAR. There are 8 half diamonds of CINNAMON or DOUBLE PINK alternating with 8 Madder Brown that has a White stripe and polka dots of red, tan and white half diamonds. The large diamonds are WHITE with teeny ... moreblack Dots. The half-diamonds on the outside curved edge are a similar Madder print with dots of red, tan and white on a smaller scale. See an explanation of these fabrics in the pre-1830 section of Eileen Jahnke Trestain's book"DATING FABRICS A Color Guide 1800-1900" There are some small light storage specks barely visible. Shown in Pix#5 and 6. Otherwise, excellent vintage condition, strong and sturdy. See the last pix for a close-up of the back which shows the precisely pieced seams are 1/8th inch wide. Of patience. Skill, housewifely pride, Of women’s love for pretty things. Of fingers trained such work to do By those who know the joy it brings. Of time within the home well spent. T he heart with homely tasks content. Gorgeous Turkey Red antique quilt made around the Turn of the Century. The quilt is signed PIG ~ a piece of fabric sewn in one of the corners written in old fountain ink. This pattern is a variation of a pattern known as Young Man's Fancy. This quilter added pieces by piecing another small Nine Patch in the center of each block instead of using one square only. It looks fantastic! Each 16" block is made up of ... more87 pieces ~ all pieced completely by hand. There are several other names for this pattern depending upon which reference book you use: Goose in the Pond. Unique Nine Patch, Patchwork Fantasy, Geometric Garden, Scrap Bag, Mrs. Wolf's Red Beauty, Bachelor's Puzzle, Missouri Puzzle. The quilt measures 76" x 74" is in very good condition. The turkey red is as vibrant as the day the quilt was made(pieced to a very light beige backing) There is one dirt mark& 2 old water stains with a small wear spot in the border(see last 2 pictures) What I believe happened causing that wear spot was that there was probably a little stain there& someone tried treating the wrong way& wore through the fabric. Then letting that area dry on it's own causing the water marks. I will be glad to offer a remedy for this to the buyer. The quilting is extremely nice! Very tiny& even stitches(10 spi) were used to make a small 1/2" grid design in the rectangular white blocks& double diagonal lines through the patterned blocks. Antique Vintage 1 DRESDEN PLATE Quilt Block originally from Lancaster County. Pa. c.1930-1940. This beautiful quilt block is approx. 14 inches across and is ALL Hand-Pieced. It is also basted around the center hole and outside edges very neatly. The 17 petals are a mixture of Apron and dress cotton fabrics of the day. Each petal measures 5.25" long and 2.25" wide. The colors are typical 1930's-40's purple. Pinks, blue, with white, etc. This block lies flat. Excellent/Mint condition and project ready. Clean. Strong and sturdy, no spots or stains or loose seams. Antique Vintage X BLOCK Quilt- Simply Beautiful I am not sure what this pattern is called. So if you know please message me. Beautiful X block design is full of vibrant colors with soft blues framing each block. An assortment of gorgeous novelty fabrics go well together. There are lots of interesting ones in there. The back is a cotton polka dot fabric and is brought to the front for the binding. Simply Lovely! Measures 76" x 66" Hand- quilted. It looks as if this quilt was hardly used! I saw a few small light stains on front that seem to blend in. And on the backside there are some minor light stains. No popped seams, and no tears. Strong and tight and in excellent antique vintage condition! Please keep in mind that these are vintage and antique quilts. So there may be some small loose seams and some age related stains. Antique French quilt Provence piquee block printed fabric c1850 PALE ground
~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ A wonderful textile ~ this lovely antique French quilt dates c1850 ~ wonderful madder printed fabrics on each side! This quilt is ideal for anyone that doesn't mind the signs of time and use that are often inherent in these wonderful antique pieces ~*~ This quilt is one of my favorites as the ground tone is the wonderful off-white! ~ This quilt has two sides ~ the faded rose side has the most wonderful fresh ground tone! Most of the pattern has faded away with time. However the wonderful outlines of the rose, stem and foliage remain~ the colors are wonderful true red and a pale golden yellow ~ The opposite side has a warmer creamy toned ground with lovely faded black, faded raspberry red and muted golden yellow ~ also the pattern has faded beautifully with time. The scale of each side is a medium ... morescale design ~ The hand stitched quilting on this textile is BEAUTIFULLY done. The sides are corded and the central section is all hand stitched with a tiny diamond pattern. This quilt is a thin quilt, lovely thin layer of cotton batting between the layers, beautiful soft texture ~*~ I've freshly laundered this lovely quilt and it's ready to use. The faded rose design side has a large. Square of a pink stain( please see photographs) near the bottom and also has pale staining dotted here and there( please see photographs) the opposite side also has staining dotted here and there with some pale gray marks also. This quilt has a few small holes, however has very little wear for it's age! The marks are the biggest flaw of this quilt, however.I absolutely adore it anyway! ~*~. ~*~* ~( quilt 200) MEASUREMENTS: This lovely quilt measures 69 inches by 60 inches ~ CONDITION: I've freshly laundered this lovely textile and it's ready to use. Antique French quilt Provincial piquee block printed fabric c1815
~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ I absolutely love the fabric on this wonderful quilt ~ this textile is an antique French piquee quilt dating c1815-1820 ~ wonderful medium scale leaf design! This fabric was printed using hand carved wooden blocks with wonderful Provincial colors! Lovely China blue. Deep madder red, antique pink, pale green, and the outline is a wonderful deep dark eggplant purple ~ the printing of this fabric was very labor intensive, and there were a minimum of 6 hand carved blocks to make this gorgeous design. The backing of this quilt is a lovely medium weight off-white cotton. This textile is 100% hand stitched and hand quilted. This quilt has many many small and medium sized holes in the surface of the printed side fabric. The weight of the cotton and the use has worn this fabric through in many places exposing ... morethe batting, so this textile should be enjoyed as a decorative textiles or ideal for reproduction and design inspiration, ideal too for a timeworn interior. The holes are largest near the middle and the sides, where it was hand stitched in the lovely cording pattern, are in better condition than the middle ~*~ ~ this textile has not been cleaned and has age and storage marks on each side. There are some lovely areas where the quilt could be cut for pillows etc ~ however, even then each pillow would have a small break in the surface etc ~ This textile should not be laundered with water as the printed cotton is just too fragile and won't survive a wash well, so if cleaning is important, this textile should only be dry cleaned. all condition reflected in the price) ~ ideal for any collection ~*~( please use the zoom feature on the photographs to view the condition closely ~*~) ~*~* ~( quilt 187) MEASUREMENTS: This lovely quilt measures 69 inches by 60 inches ~ CONDITION: This textile is in as found. Antique Vintage JAPANESE LANTERN patchwork QUILT BLOCK c1930-1940. A fabulous Rare find! This unbleached muslin block is 15 inches square and 21 inches on point. Typical 1930's colors of BLUE. YELLOW, PEACH, GREEN, etc. with STRIPES, FLORALS, POLKA DOTS, PLAIDS, and GEOMETRICS. All HAND-PIECED and hand-appliqued with precision. The handle is machine stitched in black. The lantern and handle is 12 inches tall and is 8 inches wide. The diamond patches are each 3.75" long by 2 inches wide. The solid apricot lantern top base and bottom base is approx. 3.5" by 1.5" Excellent condition. Clean and sturdy. See the last pix for a close-up of the back. Project ready. Perfect for wall-hanging.
