LOVELY 1940'S ANTIQUE DRUNKARDS PATH QUILT, HAND PIECED, HAND QUILTED 10SPI
Here is a great 1940's drunkard's path quilt in peach green with a light cheddar backing. All hand pieced and also hand quilted with tiny stitches. 10 ttiny spi. I have been told that this is a very hard pattern to piece due to the curves in each block. This one is very well done. Its in very good condition with just a couple of small spots on the front and one spot on the backing. Besides being entirely hand pieced every piece is hand quilted around its interior. 10spi. All cotton fabrics with a thin cotton batting The cheddar backing is just a few shades darker than the peach. Very complimentary. Its finished with a hand closed pencil thin binding. Absolutely free of wear. The only flaws on this quilt are the few match head size spots that are shown. It measures 72" x 84" and is shown on a full bed. Antique Estate 1950s Quilt "Drunkards Path" - Blue and White 65 x 76 inches
Up for sale is a vintage Drunkard's Path Quilt. It is in fair to good condition. The edges do show significant wear as seen in the photos. This might easily be fixed with adding a border around the quilt to make it bigger. The dimensions are 65 x 76 and it is hand stitched all around/inside the blocks. The quiltmanship is very good. This is just an old quilt that I estimate to be 1950s. It may be older. It came from a very old estate. There is some fading on the quilt it appears because the blocks on one side are a tad bit darker than the rest of the quilt. Very low Reserve. 1800s Worn Drunkards Path(like) and Stars Quilt AMAZING. I had it viewed at a speciality antique textile auction(Clars) and was told it dates late 1850s-60's. Turkey red. White, cream and orangey beige. It has been re-bound and the expert agreed that the re-binding is likely of the 1920's or 1930s. Measures 66" x 77" This quilt is in very worn shape. But wouldn't you be too if you were 140-160+ years old? It is mostly evenly worn, but I zero'ed in on the worst damage. See pic's. Wonderful ca 1870 drunkards path quilt with border, 8 SPI
If I thought that the Amish made a quilt in this pattern I'd label it as such since it has that feel to me given its border. In any event. This is legitimately o ld and most likely ca 1870s quilt from. I'm told, Pennsylvania. She measures 81" x 79" and is quilted at 8 SPI. This is, however, a quilt with some issues. First, as my 5th picture attempts to show, there is an area of the green that has faded. Second, there are two discernible stains to the quilt that I'm certain can be removed by a skilled cleaning(which leaves me out) see pictures 6 and 7. Finally. There are scattered places where some of the seam stitching has come undone as illustrated in my 8th and 9th pictures. For auction is this awesome antique Drunkard's Path pattern cutter or repair quilt. That is all hand stitched, and hand quilted, measuring 65" x 72" Quilt is all old cotton fabrics Vivid colors of orange. And sage green on front, backing is nice solid red cotton homespun. Quilt is in wonderful condition for its age, but does have wear in a few areas with cotton batting showing. As well as age spots. Age spots can be cleaned using proper cleaner for antique textiles. This quilt would be wonderful to use in the fall for autumn display, and then flip it over to the back and display the beautiful red backing. 15.00 Here is a wonderful 19th century hand pieced and hand quilted drunkard’s path folk art American quilt in beautiful chocolate brown. This lovely and complicated classic pattern is rare to find in in this spectacular color. The cotton fabrics in this circa 1800s quilt remain strong. And the overall condition of this early quilt is very good antique with no holes seen. The background is natural taupe or tan which darkens or deepens in areas especially at the borders of the quilt, this adds to the primitive character of this old beauty. Ca 1930 blue and white drunkards path quilt top
Clearly. This is an incredibly complex version of the drunkards path, and this 80" x 69" quilt top is all hand sewn to boot. What I don't comprehend, however, is that some of the fabric has torn, primarily at the two far ends, as shown in pictures 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9(and I may have missed one or two) How that happens with a quilt top that has never been used is beyond me, but there it is. Nevertheless, even if those sections were wholly removed(as opposed to repaired) you'd have a significant quilt top with great detail. A Beautiful Antique Drunkards Path"Make Do" Quilt- Made from Shirtings& Red Calico's! This is a fantastic example of a"make do" quilt. People had to'make do' with the material they had available at the moment. The back is 2 different red calico's. One front section is even done in a plain pink. It measures a generous 75x 83. Lies flat, and is totally hand quilted with white binding being machine applied. The work is well done at 8-9 stitches per inch. There is no batting used in this quilt. Again. Another example of the"make do" time period. There are no rips. Tears, evidence of wear, fabric fading, or loose seams that we could identify. The quilting is museum quality at 8 to 10 SPI on this beautiful quilt. All the work on this quilt was hand stitched. The cotton batting is smooth and lays flat. The colorful fabric is bright and show well. This old vintage quilt is in excellent condition except one small place needs mending and a couple of storage spots. The hand-stitching is beautifully done and the design of the four corners is very special. It is in excellent condition and I do not think it has ever been washed. Could find only one small discoloration on the reverse side and have not attempted to clean that. Small and faint. See photo. I have not opened a seam to look, but sure that it has a cotton batting. The size is about 79 or 80 inches by about 94 inches. Just a really lovely quilt. In my photos you will see areas where the sun was shining and also shadows. Stored away after it was made, never used or laundered. The drunkards path pattern was the most popular during prohibition. Approx 1917 thru 1933. Prohibition was supported by many womens' groups, hoping to keep their husbands from spending their paychecks on booze, and many quilts of the drunkards path were made during this time. This pattern is not one for a beginner to try. The difficult curves and points must be precise! There are pencil pattern marks where she marked her quilting pattern. It is hand quilted at 7-8 stitches per inch. It has quilted flowers and a quilted 4 braided chain pattern around the border with quilted grid work in the corners with squares that measure ... morejust 3/4" x 3/4" It is hand bound. This quilt is in amazing condition. It has a couple light spots ranging from pin dot to rice size as shown in the photos. There are also two light fold lines on the back and some light pencil marks that go outside the quilting lines. All of which was too light to photograph. Never used. Never washed. The reason for the spots on the first photo is the sun shiny through some leaves onto the quilt. This auction is for a very nice old quilt. It is from circa 1920's. The pattern is Drunkard's Path. It is hand quilted. Hand assembles, and hand pieced. My appraiser said the material was cotton sateen. I would say the color is burgundy or a light red. I asked the appraiser if the color had faded over time and she said this is very close if not exactly the original color. It measures approx. 85 inches by 107 inches, large quilt(I put down king size however I am unsure how the sizes of quilts translate to bed sizes, please look at the measurements provided. In terms of condition I would say it is very good. There is a couple of small foxing spots but no tear or rips. Very nice quilt. This quilt is also registered with the Illinois State ... moreMuseum. Alizarin red prints or solid Turkey Red, and a burgundy and white print. The blocks are hand sewn together. The back is made using 4 rectangles of 1920's prints, surrounded by a dark olive green. VINTAGE 1950'S DRUNKARDS PATH QUILT FANCY BORDER, PROVENANCE
This is an very pretty and unusual drunkards path quilt pieced with with white cotton and lavender silk. It has a unique cone and swag type border and its in mint condition. Home made from the late 40'S early 1950's it has a thin cotton filling and a soft white cotton backing. The maker was a professional seamstress and milliner(hat maker) The hand quilting is nicely done at 9spi. The piecework is a mix of hand and machine and its precisely done. The drunkards path is not a beginners project due to the curved piecing and I dont think the border is particularly easy design either! Its finished with a pencil thin lavender binding that is hand closed with tiny stitches. The quilt has just a few pin head spots and other than that appears unused. It measures 72" x 88" Nice enough for gift giving. Provenance given to winning bidder.

DESCRIPTION Here's an old Pennsylvania quilt in the much loved pattern of Drunkards Path from the 19th century. Circa 1860's. Charming tiny calico prints in red with tiny double white flowers and white with dark blue and red extremely tiny tulip prints. delightful early fabrics! And. The quilt is entirely made by hand, all hand pieced with tiny even stitching at 8 sti. Even the stitches joining the 5" squares that make up the body of the quilt are all hand stitched, no machine stitching anywhere! There is a wide zigzag pieced pattern to three ... moreof the sides of the outer border. The fouth side. Meant for the top of the bed, is plain with just the red calico print fabric binding the same as on the other three sides. The reverse is plain white. All cotton fabrics and thin cotton batting with cotton seed visable when held to the light. The body of the quilt is still in good condition though it has certainly seen much use and wear. The quilting is all in fine shape. No odors or stains. A very few scattered small discolorations here and there. The binding edge is frayed in a few areas, but still in overall good condition. Fantastic quilt that was expertly handmade and then safely stored safely away for over 100 years! This quilt has never been washed or used. It has pencil pattern marks throughout. One end border has a different. But matching red fabric. See photo. It is masterfully hand quilted at 8-9 stitches per inch. It has quilted double rods that are just 1/8" wide, and it has quilted grid work made up of double rods that are about 3/16" wide and the squares measure 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" It is hand bound. It measures 85" x 71" This quilt has never been washed. So there is age spotting and foxing throughout. What a darling piece for a girl's room or spare bedroom decorated in shabby chic. This is a high quality and very nicely made quilt with special added touches such as the pink floral tatting on each side and the clam shell quilting inside of each path with linen used throughout. Overall in very good condition with just 2 areas showing signs of age. The top of the quilt in missing around 5 inches of the floral pink tatting. Which could be replaced or removed as desired. The colors are crisp and clean with one tiny size of a dime stain in blue on front. Some slight fading on bottom border(see pic) The quilt is about 72 x 56 inches. Has a nice hand stitched border. 1920-30's Vintage Patchwork Quilt, Red & White Drunkards Path, Hand Quilted
This is a lovely Quilt that I have had for about 20 years. It came from a small country home in Michigan. Which the family said it was made by their mother. Drunkards Path or Bolweevle? Made somewhere around the 1920's-30's measuring 68" x 79" The fabric color is still quite vibrant. The binding. Looks as though it is starting to show wear on the edges. This quilt was hand quilted wit 6-7 stitches per inch. A few faint stains and/or spots which I have tried to photograph. I have not had it appraised but was told by an appraiser. It was worth $600-$700 in 2000. I would love to see it go to a place to be preserved. Smoke free home. Never washed ca 1900 Drunkards Path quilt bubble gum pink, hand quilted @ 10 SPI
Fabulously hand quilted at 10 SPI and never washed(still bearing some of the pencil marks directing the quilting) This Bubble gum pink& White drunkards path is in absolutely perfect condition. Measuring 97" x 86" my pictures here tell the whole story and there's very little I can add to what constitutes, with its border, the finest example of this pattern. Antique Handmade Patchwork Pink White Drunkards Path Quilt 65 x 76 1890-1910
This is a medium weight well used turn-of-the-century quilt. It does not appear to have stains on it. Just lots of wear. The seamstress carefully added an embroidered muslin protective strip to cover the top part of the quilt. The quilting is very simple straight lines. Characteristic of that time period. Also representative of that time period, it has two straight line strips of alternative pink and white for a border all the way around the quilt. It is equally worn throughout. Size: 65 x 76. It's very pretty folded in a display or would make wonderful crafts. Very lovely in its used state. Charming Drunkards path BLUE&WHITE late 1800-1900s hand pieced and quilted quilt
This is a lovely old Drunkards path quilt that still has some good life in it. It was hand pieced and quilted in a diagonal pattern at 6 stitches to the inch. The fabric is an indigo polka dot. And cresent moon design. It is very soft, thin and cozy. Back is clean. It measures 52" X 68" It has a new navy binding. The indigo has keep its color very well.There are about(8) 3" areas showing some wear, 2 faded areas, one tiny hole on the back and front. I tried to give you photos of these areas. It is by no means a cutter quilt. It can be used to cuddle with and also a great display piece. Doesn't need washing and has a pleasant old smell.
