This tulip patterned applique quilt top/ coverlet measures 84 x 86 inches. It do not see any holes but there is some staining here and there- I am not sure if it will come out or not. This wonderful quilt looks like a garden in bloom! It is about 86" x 75" Back is the same unbleached muslin as the front background, nice and crisp. There are two spots that are barely noticeable, one is an ink mark toward the bottom of the quilt, the other is a water mark toward the top, there is also a water mark on the back, and there is a shade of soiling on the edge, I didn't wash, will leave to new owner if they think it is needed. It is machine quilted in a less than 1" diagonal square design, thin cotton batting, all cotton fabrics of course, no edge wear, no holes. An exceptional and stunning find! Descripti on: Pretty tulip applique quil t! Solid green leaves& ste ms with a p rinted red fabr ic used for the tulips on a white background. Wonderful saw tooth border done in the same printed red fabric. Nice feath er& wreath stitching with the feather stitching going all the way around the border in a swag like manner. It is all hand sewn at 8 SPI. The reverse fabric is pulled around the front to make the binding. This is a thin summer weight quilt made in the late 1800's. It measures 80X81. Condition: There are a few light stains that are pictured. There are a few leaves where the fabric has started to come unstitched. But it is very slight& hardly noticeable. I have pictured one of those areas. There is some slight discoloration around the edges. Sort of an aged toning look. There is some wear on the reverse side(shown) ... morein the same spot. Antique Red and White Applique Tulip Quilt
14.00 Here is a wonderful hand sewn applique quilt with scalloped border. So many tiny stitches went in to the quilting and applique of this lovely old quilt. There are forty eight red tulips on tan stems against a white background. In groups of three per stem. Seventeen of the tulips or stem have some wear or shredding to the fabric. Some is fairly minor and some more apparent. The background appears to have fared well with several small holes to the top of the quilt seen in one area. Most of the background is in good condition, as is the backing. There is one good sized pale discoloration or area of soiling, which looks like yellowing or browning. There is also one area of binding which needs to be re sewn. I would not consider this quilt to be a cutter, however it could benefit from a little T.L.C. One of a Kind - Exceptional Simplicity! Antique Applique Tulip Quilt. 1800's.
This beautiful applique quilt is from the late 1800s. The size is 76 x 75 inches Turkey red and cream colored tulips. With stems and leaves in cadet blue, fugitive green and grey. There is a nice red border to frame the tulips and a tight red binding to complete this masterpiece. The background and backing are white. The batting is of medium weight. The hand quilting is a nice 5-6 stitches per inch and is an amazing 1/4 inch apart on the entire quilt. This old quilt is remarkably soft! The condition is excellent for the age. The is some light fading on the red border and if you look very closely. A few faint spots and just a little discoloration in the fold area. The photos complete the description of this unique old quilt.

This spectacular 1930's applique quilt has real personality and presence! The size is 72 x 78 inches. The fabrics are all cotton. White backing and thin batting. Hand stitching at 6 SPI. Except for the binding which was applied by machine. The tulips are a vivid fuchia pink color. The leafs and large blocks of the front background are a nile green. The flowers are outlined with neat black stitching. There are two borders one in white with the other in the pink fabric. As is the binding The condition is excellent. There are no tears or rips. It measures a generous 88" X 90" and is in excellent condition. With no spots or wear. The quilting is REMARKABLE. With quilting around and within the applique and in elaborate straight line, floral, feathered, pinwheel, 5/8" grid and other designs in the background, all at an UNBELIEVABLE 14-15 stitches to the inch(counting one side only) The back is white. 1930s Dutch tulip quilt. Hand stitched, flowers in pastel shades of pink yellow& white, green pipping on all four sides, thin layer of batting inside, back is solid white. Condition. Overall very good. The only issues are at the top of the quilt on the front the fabric has worn away to the batting which you can see in the pictures, some of the stitching has broke around the flower edges, the edges of each side the pipping has frayed and worn, there is a small hole in the back& on the front, each do not go thru the other side. My treasure-trove of memories for you. Josephine Day Mickelson Lovely antique quilt made in a unique tulip pattern. I searched every one of my reference books& could not find this one. Six sherbet orange& butter yellow tulips. Pale green leaves& grass green stems fill the 16- 14" blocks. All expertly appliqued to a white backing ~ all 100% cotton with a thin all cotton batting. The backing is pure white but some of my pictures make it look dark& even dingy. I assure you it is crisp& clean, freshly hand-laundered. My main picture makes the right side of the quilt look a bit lighter. I took the pictures out on my roofed deck& ... morethe sun was on that side making the quilt look lighter. It's only the light. That side is the same color as the rest of the quilt. It's in excellent condition with no rips, tears or holes, and no stains. It measures 73" x 72" It was made by Mrs. Bair of North Canton, Ohio. I will give the winning bidder more info upon the auction's end) Her applique work is fantastic; her stitches are very, very tiny, can barely be seen. Each leaf& tulip has been quilted around the inside in like shape and each block has been quilted with narrow vertical& horizontal lines that form squares. The yellow border was quilted in a 3/4" grid design, the white border was quilted with a single leaf design, and the outermost border was quilted in a diamond design. all with extremely small, very neat stitches ~ 11 spi! Description: Beautiful tulip applique quilt in red. Yellow and green on a white background. This quilt has a nice scalloped edge. The edge is done in a feather pattern all the way around. The large center appliques are surrounded by grid stitching with the tulips all facing inward towards each other. Around the border of the quilt are tulips that contain wreath stitching between them at the stems and a leaf pattern stitch above the tulips and between the tulip leaves. On other portions of the quilt there is tulip patterned stitching around the border tulips. There is a chain of tulips around the large center appliques which also goes between them. This quilt is just jammed with stitching of all sorts and makes a real statement. What a stand out! Looks fabulous on the wall. That is all hand stitched, and hand quilted, measuring 63 1/2" x 80 1/2" Quilt is nice lightweight summer or spring quilt that is in excellent condition all but a few light age stains, mostly on the backing, that can be cleaned using oxi-clean or other proper cleaner for antique textiles. You will be bidding on a VERY UNUSUAL all hand made quilt. It is a butterfly pattern we have never come across before. The butterflies are in a sort of abstract pattern. They are all around a center motif with 2 butterflies and two tulips. Making a great design! We love this one. It is a lime green field with brown bands. VINTAGE TURKEY RED FLORAL TULIP W LEAVES APPLIQUE QUILT TOP 80" X 92" GREAT COND
For auction: an absolutely stunning tulip quilt top. The tulips are a bright red. With light green leaves. The tulips are 15.5' tall. The 4' square matching light green blocks around edge give it just the right framing. The top was made by a local lady known for her beautiful quilting. I have sold several of her quilts and tops on eBay with all satisfied buyers. The top measures 80' x 92' and is in very good/minty condition. It came from a clean smoke-free estate. No holes, tears, stains, or odors. It has been both machine and hand sewn, as shown. The applique tulips were all sewn by hands, showing wonderful tiny stitching. That is all hand stitched, and hand quilted, measuring 68 1/2" x 81" with each tulip block measuring 11" x 11 1/2" Quilt is nice lightweight summer or spring quilt that is in excellent condition all but it needs to be cleaned. Has two opposite corners on ends where there are age stains. Quilt has great early cotton fabrics of feedsacks, or floursacks, calico. Pretty colors of yellow. Blue, purple, red, green, cream, pink, tan. Each tulip of pansy has been stitched on using black thread. So it really stands out nicely against cream color cotton background. Backing is soft cotton cream muslin. Batting inside quilt is old thin blanket. Great quilt for cottage decor. Wonderful spring quilt! Antique Pinwheel Tulip Applique Quilt
Here is a stunning antique hand stitched applique quilt in a fantastic pinwheel tulip pattern. The appliqued pattern is worked in vibrant red. And moss green against a ground of white. There is a tulip border, and the quilting is very nicely worked in a pinwheel tulip pattern identical to the appliques. There is rather substantial soiling on the backing. This soiling appears to be lightly colored rust type storage related discoloration or soiling. There is a much more minor version of the same type of soiling on the top. We believe this soiling could be greatly reduced or eliminated with a good soaking. There is an area of hand mending on the white background fabric, as well as a smallish hole both of which we have shown in the photos. The measurements are approx. 84” by 68”

A client for whom I sell on eBay asked me yesterday to go upstairs and look at some old quilts that had been passed down to her over the years and were some of the things that she would like to dispose of during her downsizing. I went upstairs and was greeted with 16 brilliantly-colored p c1920s and 1930s(as best I can tell) lovely quilts in excellent. Clean condition along with a c1868 Ambros Miller red-and-blue coverlet and a pristine Bates George Washington chenille bedspread. As best I can tell the quilts were created in Western Pennsylvania quilting bees in the 1920s and 1930s. The stitching is tight and certainly hand executed. Top of the quilt has a wide"chin guard" to protect the quilt. Hand quilting is done in a"Baptist Fan" design. This quilt was very likely a"Sunday Quilt" that was placed on the bed on Sundays. When the family had company, and on special events or holidays. This delightful"Sunday Quilt" was made with one piece of fabric for the backing, the same color& fabric for the strips between the applique'd tulips as well as the amazing amount of time spent on the hand applique' and hand quilting. The family would have used a"Make-Do" quilt on regular ... moredays which was a quilt pieced with a variety of cotton scraps of clothing and multiple pieces of fabric for the backing. This 1940's Dutch Tulip quilt is hand appliqued using all cotton fabrics. The pastel colors are typical of 40's appliques in rainbow colors with a mint green sashing around each block and medium pink for the background. The binding is hand applied. And the backing is bright white. Hand quilted with outline quilting around each applique and diamond quilting on the sashing, background and borders@ 7 stitches per inch. The reverse side is all white. It is hand stitched. About 7 stitches per inch. In between the tulip pattern, the pink thread stitching is sewn in the shape of daisy ... moreflowers. It is in good vintage condition. There is one pea-sized hole. And 2 penny-size stains. There are two small areas, hard to find, where the stitching has come out, with age. 22 VINTAGE TULIP APPLIQUE QUILT BLOCKS LOT
This is a vintage lot of 22 tulip applique quilt blocks each measuring 11 inches square. Completely sewn by hand with expertise. All 22 blocks are in shades of tangerine and marigold with the exception of the green stems. 100% cotton on natural cotton muslin. There is a spot here or there that would disappear when the blocks are sewn together and you could launder with a spot remover. I will leave that up to the purchaser.

Vintage 1870's Red. Cheddar& Teal North Carolina Tulip Applique Antique Quilt! This sturdy cotton 1870's turkey red. Cheddar and teal tulips quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted, with a pattern known to come out of North Carolina(and I did, in fact, buy this in Asheville, North Carolina) It measures 70" X 86" and is in very good. Unwashed condition, with age spotting in places, color loss in the vegetable dyed teal fabrics and some of the red(turned to tan) and no wear. There are rainbow/arc designs quilted throughout at 6-7 stitches to the inch. The back and hand stitched. Rolled binding are white, and the batting is thin. The WONDERFUL DESIGN and classic color combination make this vintage beauty stand out- it would make a terrific wall hanging!

Antique Circa 1930 Tulip applique quilt top
This is a wonderful applique top measuring 83 by 81.5 inches. It is machine pieced and there are nine applique blocks of tulips each measuring 20 x 20 inches. The top has two borders. The first a two inch pink border and then an eight inch white border top but has some dye transfer from folding for over a hundred years. It has not bee washed and is an 1880s Variable Star pattern. There are 25, 9 x 9 inch. There is a 2.5 inch pieced border. Has label"Cumberland County, PA Quilt Documentation KB 00400" This was one of many antique quilts documented by local quilt group in 2013.
