Vintage Handmade Hand Quilted Blue Flower Basket Feedsack Full Cotton Quilt Description. Vintage hand made flower basket quilt. All cotton fabrics in solids and prints. I believe feedsacks as well but am no expert and will let you be the judge. Striping in blue with red squares. It is all hand quilted. Backed in a wonderful cotton fabric in white. Navy blue and red with birds leaves and geometric medallion designs. It is a medium or heavy weight winter quilt. The quilt top is in excellent condition, I noticed just a couple of small faint spots. The back has some repairs around the edge. The repairs are machine stitched and it looks as though it was done before the back was put on. The edge stitching was not undone anywhere and the machine repair stitching does not go threw to the front. There are also a a few small holes just started around ... morethe edge. Beautiful Vintage Applique Quilt Block Square Basket FLOWERS Fabric SEW CRAFT
Up for auction is a beautiful quilt block from the Shenandoah Valley Mountains. This quilt block is made on what I believe is muslin cream color fabric. The basket of flowers is made with cotton fabric. Tans. Greens, pinks, blues and yellow are the primary colors. The size is approximately 17" x 17" The age is unknown. The black stitching makes this design really"pop" It is ideal for a pillow or any of your repurposing projects. I do not see any stains or tears. The muslin fabric has some color variation near the edges which should not affect your project in my opinion. This sewing project from days gone by has a"shabby flair" and is very sweet. The lot includes: 3 blocks in various stages of completion ~ hand-pieced 1 strip of 4 squares 15 large triangles in small green print for basket 17 medium triangles in white cotton for bottom of block 41 completed small squares(half white/half print) 65 small triangles in assorted 30's prints A pattern for the Flower Basket blocks ~ Looks like a variation on the design. But the templates are the same size. It may be a copy from a book. I think the completed block should measure around 12-1/2" if they are following the enclosed pattern) There are a few pieces with brown storage spots. But maybe a good soak would help. Antique Vintage Hand Quilted Flower Basket Quilt Dated
Very interesting flower basket quilt. All blocks have a name stitched on it. Some have the date 1934. I would assume some ladies had some fun while they put this together. Second picture shows an age spot. Quilt is in pretty good shape other than fading. The back is pink and is faded. All the quilts I have listed are totally hand stitched. My what time it took! This is an old Hand Stitched Quilt Top in a Flower Basket pattern. Made of some feed and flour sack fabric. There are a couple of novelty fabrics that are really neat. One has little ducks marching across it and the other one has football players. The blocks are 12 3/8" The whole top measures 71 x 88. Hand pieced and hand stitched. I would estimate it to be from around 1900. The top measures approximately 79" X 92" The basket blocks are approximately 9 1/4" square. They are set on point with unpieced setting blocks. The background fabric is white and black shirting fabric. The blue in the baskets is that turn-of-the-century blue with a hint of teal. I have seen no holes or worn areas. There are a few small age spots that I have not tried to clean. The top has probably never been laundered. The basket blocks were hand-pieced. The handles were appliqued by hand. The blocks were joined to the setting blocks by machine. This top would make an excellent addition to your collection. 1880 ANTIQUE BASKET OF SCRAPS QUILT OLD VINTAGE EVENING CANDLES COUNTRY QUILT
This wonderful primitive quilt is a beautiful piece of folk art! It has medium thick batting. All cotton fabrics that date to 100 years ago or more, and is completely hand stitched! It is about 66" x 82" back is a tiny black and white plaid, it is in overall excellent condition, very well cared for. The orange block has some thinning splits, not sure if this is homespun fabric, and there is a tiny hole near the corner on the back side only, these are the only flaws I could find, again, it is in excellent condition with cotton batting, tiny even hand stitching and quilting, quilting pattern was done in a rainbow or curved line design with rows about 3/4" apart. This is an outstanding quilt, a great find, so well preserved any museum would be proud to display it in a primitive setting, and would make a nice addition to any collection, ... moreperfect for seasonal decorating, too! This is a cute vintage"cat in a basket" quilt top ~ measures 72" x 55" Assorted vintage fabrics were used for the baskets with all of the cats a turquoise solid fabric. The cats facial features are hand sewn and each basket and cat are hand appliqued to the muslin square. There is one place(pic 10) where the blue band has began to come loose. But very easy to fix. Antique Vintage Crib or Youth Flower Basket Quilt from Western North Carolina NR
This is an exceptionally nice crib or youth quilt 48 x 58 inches in size. It was purchased by us at a farm estate liquidation sale about 35 years ago near Hickory. N. C. Each quadrant of the quilt, front and back is shown in photos 2 through 9. Hand stitched and comprised of fabrics that appear to be from the early 1900's and maybe feed or flour sacks.This quilt retains part of the velcro hanging system that was installed by us as well as some small weights to keep it hanging straight. They could be used to hang it again or easily removed to use it as a throw or on a bed. The background, or field, is a beige or tan fabric, not white. There are a few stains that were present when we purchased it. This has been in a smoke free, climate controlled environment both in North Carolina and now in Florida. Today. I have for auction, a very old Flower Basket Design Homemade Quilt. It measures approx. 66" x 92" The front is in very nice condition with a few seam separations, and some quilting threads coming undone. One corner has a few small tears. The top and bottom of the quilt has yellowing, or staining. I have not tried to wash the quilt, as the backing is tearing at the top and bottom and also has the yellowing or staining. Antique Handmade 1800s BASKET OF FLOWERS Applique Quilt SIGNED Jamerson 1863
This lovely Basket of Flowers applique quilt is a lovely display with Rose of Sharon style flowers and buds. Signed in ink on the backside it reads Jamerson. 1863. It looks to have been cut down and rebound. Most likely to remove two damaged borders and preserve the best of the quilt. It would make a lovely display or cutter quilt. It has a nice quality feel to it and is clean with the ivory ground showing a perfect patina. The uneven fading of the fugitive colors makes for an interesting look that cannot be replicated. Still a usable quilt if you should decide to use it on a bed. The fabrics used are all 100% Cotton solid fabrics. The overall size is 62 X 78 inches. There are 12 blocks used in the making of the top. Each block measures 13" inches square and set on point. The white fabric is a nice off white cotton. The cotton batting ... moreis a medium weight and evenly distributed. The backing is made from a strong off white cotton muslin. It is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted by a very skilled quilter at 12 stitches per inch(counted both sides) with the applique work more finely stitched. The border is located on one side and measures 8" inches. The full hand applied binding measures just under 1/2" inch and looks to be reproduction fabrics and added sometime in the 60s- 70s. Binding is in excellent condition with no signs of wear or fading. CONDITION: This quilt is in good clean condition. It has fading and fabric thinning. No holes or tears and all the stitches are in place. Overall. It is a lovely piece. It looks as if it has been cleaned by someone who knew what they were doing and a job well done. There are no major stains or spots to be concerned about. There is no odor to this quilt and it does not appear to have been exposed to insects. Smoke, pets or abuse. I am selling a family quilt that my mother bought in the'60's and kept tucked away for purposes of conservation. It measures approx. 71" X 77" and overall i would say it is in good to very good condition. It does have a few flaws(see pictures) One picture shows a stain(red basket) However, I believe this is a surface stain that could be removed easily.I have not done anything to this quilt, leaving cleaning to those more qualified. The stain and a small stain near it, both are slightly"crusty" on top leading me to believe it does not go into the fabric. But again, it is my unprofessional opinion, you be the judge. The 2nd significant damage is in a basket(see picture) on the middle left of the quilt fairly near the border. Here there is 3 small ares of damage. It measures 75" x 90" It is masterfully hand quilted at 9-10 stitches per inch with feathering and single rod stitching throughout. Hand appliqued. Hand bound. It measures approximately 66" x 83" and is in very good condition. It appears to be mostly made of cotton type fabric. This was an estate piece and is in as found condition. It has not been cleaned in any way. Although the material is in very good physical condition. There appears to be some staining that is clearly visible in the photos. CHERISH EACH DAY& ALL WILL BE OK This vintage quilt has beautiful details& is one of my favorites. It has an insert border& fine details. Not normally seen. There is dense hand quilting at 6-9 spi, with feathered scrolls, arches& other pretty designs. Quarter sections are shown, to see the details better. It measures 72" by 86" overall, with a blue flower basket in the middle. There are 2 colors of peach flowers, that look like apple blossoms to me. They are hand applied& have hand embroidered details. The background color is white. the backing matches the front. There is white binding, that was hand sewn with tiny stitches. The blue insert border goes all around, there are 2 rows of blue stripes. They were hand applied with tiny& fine stitches. The quilt is all cotton, has thin batting. It has been washed& ... morelays flat. There is one repair that can be seen in the last picture, a 4" line that was sewn. It wasn't done by me, it doesn't look perfect. There are no other flaws seen. The quilting is machine done. But the baskets have been hand-applied. There are a myriad of basket colors on a white with tiny, tiny flowers printed on it. I have sold many feedsacks before, and all of these pieces of fabric are feedsack-like. These baskets are place on hand-applied tan squares. Thirteen of the 36 baskets have some wear– to a very small pull on one to one I noticed that the wear goes into the batting underneath. The reverse side is a cream-colored fabric with little blue or black stars on them. The backing is in excellent condition– I’ve only found a few ... moreareas at the outside perimeter of the quilt that are frayed and there is a small stain on the back. The main theme is on one side is a basket quilt done in Lancaster blues and reds. The reverse is a very colorful 4 patch design with early fabrics. There seems to be no wear. I don't think this was used, it looks to never have been washed. Crisp vivid fabrics. Medium cotton batting with a simple quilting stitches done on diagonal. The binding is front to back(front being the basket side) This may have been two antique quilt tops put together later, can't say for certain but it's in excellent condition. All hand stitched. Blue and White Basket Quilt...Cutter?
Very nice Blue and White Basket quilt in actually good condition. A bit of fraying around the edges. The baskets themselves are in great shape. No tears, stains, etc. The negative is some one has cut off the top of the quilt and bound it unevenly. It could be straightened and would make a lovely throw. The edge is scalloped. There are 12 small triangles that have popped and it the binding has wear(photo'd) Freshly hand laundered. Not perfect. But a really sweet vintage quilt! BM. 4.6lb. The muslin is strong. Each'basket measures 13"H x 12.75"W. Top. Right-hand corner has soil mark(see photo) that should clean out of the muslin(I did not try) This soil mark DOES go through to the back side. I am unsure of the age. The center has an embroidered flower basket and flowers. Around this is sawtooth patchwork then more embroidery work on each corner and another row of sawtooth patchwork. This quilt top looks to have been used as a spread without having been finished. As it appears to have been washed several time and there is fraying around the edge and several seams have came apart and been sewn back together. For you consideration are four piece of Westmoreland Milk Glass. The first piece is a lovely Old Quilt pattern Pedestal Dish. The Pedestal Dish measures 6 3/4" tall. It is 6" in diameter at the mouth and 3 7/8" in diameter at the base. The pedestal measures 1 3/4" tall. In the Bramble pattern there is a Creamer and Sugar set. The Creamer measures 3 1/2" tall and the Sugar measures 3 1/4" tall. In the Dogwood pattern is a lovely Split Handle Basket. The basket measures 3 3/4" tall and 4 3/4" in diameter. Think Spring! Offered is a cute pillow made from a 1920s a light Williamsburg blue and soft cream"Basket" pattern quilt. With random cotton seed debris still visible. This quilt was hand pieced with approximately 10 stitches per inch.even the basket handle.and hand quilted with about 4 to 5 stitches per inch. This pillow measures a nice 14 inches by 12 inches. For the pillow backing I've used a piece from the off white back of the same quilt. To give this pillow more structure and stability. I have interfaced both front and back pieces. This pillow is firmly plumped with new premium fiberfil and hand stitched closed. Please excuse my camera shadows on some of the pics! To add some interest. I've tacked a bow made from some sheer blue and ivory ribbon onto the handle, and topped that with a vintage white enameled butterfly ... morepin. Antique Vintage 1 BASKET Quilt Block found in OHIO c.1930-1940. This beautiful quilt block is approx. 9 inches square and is 13 inches on point. The patchwork block is all Hand-Pieced and the pretty PURPLE handle is hand-appliqued. The colors are typical 1930's-40's dress. Close-woven feedsack, and apron fabrics in purple, green, red, pinks, blue, with white, etc. No machine stitching on this one. This block lies flat. Good vintage condition. NO spots, stains, or fading. Clean, strong and sturdy, no holes or loose seams. See the last pix for a close-up of the back. My feedsacks in pix background not included. Perfect for Craft project. 81 BASKET QUILT BLOCKS--1800'S FABRICS
I don't remember which basket this is in quilts. Cherry Basket comes to me but that may not be correct. The 81 blocks shown here are made up of 1800's prints and are 6 1/4" square. A couple of the blocks are not shown but they are attached together by green fabric. The quilter did not get very far in assembling the quilt top. That may be good for youl Some of the white fabrics have brown stains that do not go into the prints. I think the quilter used fabric that was stained before it was cut. There are not a lot of these pieces and they could be replaced if you have a piece of vintage white fabric. A few of the blocks could be repieced to improve the appearance of the final quilt. Again. There are not a lot of these. Since not many have been joined by the green fabric, you could use whatever fabric you like for the lattice or ... morealternate square. You have a lot of leeway as to size this way. Any way you do this, you will be rewarded with a beautiful quilt of vintage fabrics. This is a very pretty and well done piece of American history. This is a hand pieced. Hand quilted and hand bound quilt. It is made of green and a feedsack fabric. It measures 62" x 62" and has been cut down to that size from a larger size probably due to damage at the edges. There are quite a number of tiny squares that are wearing thin or seams that are loosening. I would not call this a cutter but some people might. I tried to show most of the issues in the pictures so please look at them. There is still a lot of life in this little quilt. Any and all questions are welcome. This is a set of two small pillows/ basket fillers. One square and one heart. These are perfect for anyone that decorates in the Americana decor. Wonderful for 4th of July. County and Patriotic decorating. Great vintage fabrics in blue. Turkey red and tan. Great vintage condition. I added a rusty heart with a jute bow and a hang tag on one and the other has a rusty bell, jute bow and hang tag. The heart is about 8" x 9" The square is about 7" x 7" The backs are plain muslin.
